Disappointed
We returned last night from a week at Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort which is just south of Cancun. It was our 4th time at the same resort. Overall we had a great time but there were some serious disappointments that makes us feel like going elsewhere next time we want to go to that area. The pools, rooms and buildings were beautiful. The weather was surprisingly cold (of course this isn’t the resort’s fault) which meant we hardly used any of the very cold swimming pools. One day there were no beach towels available for the entire day which made the cold even worse. It was also frustrating checking with the towel people periodically getting conflicting information about when towels would be available. We upgraded our room to one that connects to a swimming pool. This would have been amazing if the water was warm enough to get in. As it was, we couldn’t use it and didn’t see anyone else in that pool from their rooms. Tip: if it’s hot out that would be wonderful. If it’s cool weather, don’t bother. Upgrade to a beach-front view room instead. We like all-inclusive resorts for the convenience. However, we enjoy a sit-down relaxing dinner. Buffets are ok for breakfast/lunch but we enjoy dressing up a bit for a nice dinner. Unfortunately, Dinner reservations at their many restaurants were very difficult to get. We were only allowed to make dinner reservations 2 nights out but were often told no reservations were available. They also needed to be made in person at the lobby. By the end of the week we learned men get a more positive response and the “in-person” component is most likely because they are hoping for tips. Should we really have to work so hard for dinner reservations? The entire dinner reservations experience was a big disappointment and we were never able to try some restaurants that I had wanted to go to. Also, the restaurants were far from crowded and once you got in the service was good. If you purchase anything from a gift shop keep your receipt handy when checking-out. I made a purchase and paid with a credit card but at check-out they said I charged it to the room. I was able to pull up my Visa statement on my phone to prove the payment but if I hadn’t pushed back they would have gladly charged me twice. It may have been an honest mistake but I have never seen that issue before. Overall, we had a good time despite the frustrations. But, would I recommend it to others or return there for a 5th visit? Probably not.

Our Mexico oasis
This resort is top drawer in all aspects of All Inclusive categories. Extremely well maintained and service beyond expectations. Food choice and quality is second to none. Location a half hour from Cancun airport is a plus with shuttle service provided both to and from, depending on your status as members or purchased travel packages. Butler service we had for 2 weeks from Cali and Ivan was outstanding, and Sara in Platinum Lounge is a real gem. We have been members for 4 years and compared to other All Inclusive resorts we have membership in or visited, Ventus El Cid is by far our favourite.

Great place. Relaxing
The only thing I did not like is when you schedule a meet with the front you always need your passport. The 2 nd meeting we had he was the one that ran to us…. We showed up needed passports I said f this and went on my way. Like I need to spend time with someone when you went to relax. Other then that the staff was more then helpful and great to relax

Wonderful Honeymoon
The property is beautiful and has enough restaurants and little shops to keep you busy when you're not adventuring! My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and had a wonderful experience. Our butlers Alejandro, Samuel and Erik treated us so well and gave us excellent recommendations. Thanks to the El Cid team!
