Great resort, poor check in service/lack of accountability
The first impression of the resort was great and the staff was great, after getting to our first room the room still had previous peoples luggage still in it, after calling down they told me they would get the luggage and the room would be okay, once that happened he left and we started to unpack and then decided to look out as we booked a ocean view as we were coming in for our honeymoon and look outside the first thing we see if a rooftop, we call down and they tell us to come down and see about moving, we pack our stuff and come down once I arrived at the front desk I said I just spoke to someone and they told me to come down to discus my room, the lady at the front just says okay yes here is room key to another room and thats all, doesn't apologize for the luggage in my room and the incorrect view, and they move us one floor up to a room with a worse view ,so we call again and after waiting 10+ minutes to get a hold of someone, they tell us they will move us to another room and will have a bellmen meet us at the elevator, now it has been over an hour of total time for "checking in" and we are now put to a room in front of the pool and all you can hear outside on the balcony is children screaming, we again call down and wait 10+ minutes to get a hold of someone by the name of "Sean" who is supposed to be a manager and says he understands and that he sees what we booked and we should of never been put it any of these other rooms, he moves us 1 floor higher and we again are put into a room with the same view as the very first room we had. We call down and are beyond frustrated at this point this is our honeymoon and we payed over $500 CND per night for our room and have just had the runaround and nobody taking any real accountability. He lets us know that he apologies and will move us to a different room tomorrow and will call us at noon to confirm and will get us moved to a room on the 6th floor. Now move onto the next day we pack our suitcase back as we are ready to move rooms again nobody calls us the next day and after we ourselves decide to call nobody has any idea of what we are talking about and Sean is not working and we can contact him after he is back. At this point we decided to give up and just try and enjoy our honeymoon and enjoy our time.
Disappointed in property
Rooms not as advertised on website. Desk staff not helpful in addressing concerns. Seemed not interested in helping guests. Their luau recommendation of Polynesian Cultural Center was unfortunate. Our experience was terrible. Food was awful; no taste and cold. Seating was chaotic. Biggest disappointment was that this hotel for some reason has placed smoking areas too close to rooms. Could not sit out and enjoy view from lanai as smoke would waft up to rooms. Ridiculous that hotel would accommodate smokers over majority of hotel guests. Why not put smoking areas outside of interior hotel areas?
Not a happy camper
We checked in at 630 pm and our room was not ready and had to wait for another hour plus for our room. Upon entering the room, it had misty and damn air as we did find parts of carpet wet. When we asked for a different room we were informed the was full. Also later we found out the outside sink barely drained. While the bed mattress was fine for my family, it was soft for my back and as a result had to sleep on the semi moist carpet.
Great location and beautiful resort...less than stellar customer service
The hotel was new and updated with very high end finishes. On site dining was excellent. They also had on site excursions such as kayaking, surfing, horseback riding, and snorkeling. The biggest disappointment for us was the customer service, or lack thereof. We felt like a number instead of a resort guest. Very few hotel employees greeted us let alone went out of their way to make our vacation memorable. Overall, this is a high price resort with low class customer service. Best bet to stay elsewhere for lesser money and get treated like royalty.
Great service, amazing location, somewhat over-priced
Probably one of THE top locations in Oahu without a doubt. Literally overlooking a surfing beach, with expansive grounds and amenities. Having travelled quite a lot a general note is that having visited others, Hawaiian hotels are relatively basic in terms of room quality for what you pay. Friendly staff, chilled vibes with the only major irritation being things like daily rental of beachside loungers an extra fee, a hefty resort fee, parking that is free for the public, but you have to pay $20/day for (just don't say you have a car). I guess its really the nickel and diming that dimmed what was an otherwise outstanding experience.
