Rooms and facilities are exactly as pictured. Clean, upscale, and modern; obviously well cared for and kept up. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a private pool and it was gorgeous. Our building was convenient to Helios and both the infinity pool and the saltwater pool. The staff is fabulous, everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. Special shout out Enrique at Helios and Alexandria at the TRS beach. Food was great, if a little "fancy" for my tastes. We enjoyed Helios multiple times during our stay, the food and the atmosphere were perfect. There are so many choices that you will never have trouble finding something that suits you. Room service was fast and arrived hot. The seaweed was a bit of a problem during our stay, but it didn't bother us. We were still able to enjoy the Bali beds and bar service by the beach, and the pools are so gorgeous that we never felt like we were missing out. In fact, we had planned on an excursion one day but we ended up skipping it to spend another day relaxing in the beach section. We were traveling as a couple looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway and this fit the bill 100%. Things did seem a little quiet at night, so if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere this may not be the best fit. Overall, we had a great time and would not hesitate to return.
Delivered on expectations
Excellent service, endless drinks and pleasant bar tenders, food was pretty good. Stayed in the ambassador suite, was awesome, but very warm compared to first floor rooms. Still would stay again, but would reconsider the room situation -- however the rooftop pool, while not heated, was awesome.
We are a young couple (under 30 years old) and we were at the hotel for a week at a Junior Suite private pool room. Everything was really really good. We got everything we asked for at the e-butler form, even the room preference (with more privacy). About the food: We always had breakfast at Capricho, and they had everything you need: a really big choice of sweets (pastries, cookies, mini-cakes, etc), bread, Spanish serrano ham, guacamole, crepes, juice station, mimosas... plus a menu with warm dishes that you could order. Lunch at Helios had a buffet area with different rices (black, paella, seafood, etc), sushi, mini burgers and hotdogs, salads, Mexican food etc. On top of that, they also have an à la carte service. At Capricho, you have only the à la carte service, but it is enough. For dinner we tried the 3 restaurants from TRS. Tentazione was good, but after being several times in Italy it can't compare to that, but anyway, it was really nice and food was good. La Bohème was really good, especially the chocolate dessert (a must!). Our favourite was El Gaucho, we were there twice and it was simply perfect! Shoutout to Marcelino for treating us insanely nice both nights!! About the Chic Cabaret, well, the show was good, but I wouldn't pay the 100$ that it costs if you aren't staying at TRS... even though they had free tables in the middle (the best ones), and that we asked to be moved several times, they didn't, and they let us at a corner for the entire show. Food was good, very fancy and fusion, with small portions, but you end up being satisfied/full. Cocktails at all bars were top top top. Nothing else to say! Pools and beach: Infinity pool: perfect! And also Las Rocas, with water entering directly from the sea! We went just once to the beach do to the sargassum, but there were parts where entering was good and no sargassum at all. It is a pity, but the Caribbean has been having this problem for more than a year now, due to climate change, hopefully when guests see the problem, they grow a bit of a conscience about it. The TRS area is at the end of the beach, so it is quite a walk, but a very nice one (you can always they a golf cart to the Kantenah lobby and walk 5-10 min from there). Room: Awesome. The decoration is really really nice, and the private pool made a huge difference for us. Toiletries are premium level, and everything was clean. One day the cleaning service forgot to put us hand towels (they took 2 and left us with 2 and not 4), and forgot to exchange my fiancé's coffee cup, but for us it wasn't a problem, and I'm sure that if you tell the butler, it will get solved (it got solved at night during the night service). The TV has a lot of apps, including Netflix, so you can also watch sth at night. From the TV you can order room service, which we need 3 times and it always arrived in around 30 min and how we asked it for. The bed was REALLY confortable! We slept like babies. Room is very big, more than enough space for 2 people. Staff: All the staff of the hotel was really really nice to us. Reception, bell-boys, our butlers (thanks Sergio!!), waiters at the restaurants (Carlos and Marcelino, big thanks!!) and at the pool. Always with a smile. I just want to say a thing: please people (and I'm referring to the guests here), be NICE! We saw and heard a lot of people being EXTREMELY rude to the staff, when they were just nice to them, and acting as if they were royalty. Look, even if you were royalty, that doesn't mean that you can treat people badly, that they are less than you. The amount of 0 in your bank account doesn't mean that you are better and that you can treat people like that... Environmental aspects: A lot of recycling points at the hotel. Also, they preserve the mangroves of the area and their biodiversity and integrate them perfectly within the resort. They have a water purification plant, so tap water is drinkable, which reduces the need of bottled water. The A/C shuts down automatically when the terrace door is opened, and turns on again when it is closed, so it doesn't waste energy. Compared to other hotels/resorts I've seen online, this one does better than the average Riviera Maya hotel in the environmental aspect. I also liked that only 14% of the total ground is built, and that it is with villas of 2 floors. Like that, when you are directly at the ocean and look back, most of the times you just see green, or a small villa and green, and not a block. Of course, they could do more, with for example all the towels that are used (too much washing) but that is also a job for the guests... We would definitely recommend it. There are people all ages, so you will never feel out of place.
Wedding at the TRS
TRS is an amazing resort. We had our wedding there on May 25, 2019. We had a huge group of 175 people. We booked majority of the guest at the TRS side and some stayed at the Colonial. The wedding crew was fantastic. This review is regarding the TRS restaurants and staff. everyone was great. The only issue we had was at the spa we booked a nail appointment, and at the end decided to not have it and cancelled our appointment. Then upon check out at TRS they wanted to charge for the service. We told the front desk that we did not have the service. The guy proceeded saying that he can take it off but it will come off the nail technician's pay. This kind of response was unacceptable, the poor lady had nothing to do with it. Having brought all this business to the resort the response should have been: no problem. This part was very disappointing. You pay the extra price to stay at a nice resort to not be nickel and dimed like that. So sad...that this behavior totally put a damper on our view of the TRS resort service. I hope management takes note of this and correct this type of service. Also, the internet service was very spoty at the TRS resort. I wished that more money would have been spent in that area. This is 2019 and there are great internet providers all over.
I traveled solo for this trip the 2nd week of June. The hotel is beautiful, the service is great and everyone is very friendly. I ventured out to the sister resorts since I sort of felt out of place at the adults only since it was mostly couples. The food was good in Helios and Carprichio. The Chic Cabaret show is great and very entertaining, wasn't a fan of the food. I was part of the TRS/Palladium fan club on FB and you can get all the tips, pictures, menus on that page and everyone is wonderful on that page. This hotel does not have a beach but you can walk to the sister resorts, the beach was full of seaweed and I did go in but wasn't as clear and clean as I liked. The white party on Monday's at sister resort is alot of fun, be sure to check it out. I would not return again if I was traveling solo.
