Beautiful Location, Shame we were not made aware of the renoavtions at time of booking
We booked a weeks stay at this resort in February for our trip in May, however there was no information regarding the renovations that were being undertaken. Needless to say were were suprised and disappointed when we arrived that a large portion of the grounds were closed (one of the main reasons we booked this hotel) with construction works going on throughout the day. The staff did apologise for the renovations and we were given complimentary breakfast for the duration of the stay. However being charged full rates for a resort that is only partially open didnt leave the best taste in our mouths. Having said that the location is great and the beaches were fantastic so we spent most of our days exploring the nearby locations. I would suggest that the hotel have more clear information regarding the construction activities to allow potential travellers the option to decide if this is for them.
Everything about the hotel is great but the flamingos! When you first walk into the hotel, there is this cool waterfall thing. In the same area, there are some flamingos that are very pale (diet isn’t right). they look very sad and are there 24/7 standing in the same spot. also, they have no space so they can mill around. doesn’t belong in the hotel
Great stay Resort had everything you would need to spend a week in Hawaii Room was large with full kitchen washer and dryer Bathroom had a full tub and shower. We had a small balcony as well Outside around the pool were 8 bbq grills Soon as we picked up the car, Costco was 1/2 mile away Shopping and the town were close by with outlet mall and Safeway
An honest review of this resort. Don't panic.
We booked 5 nights through Priceline back in February. At the time we had no idea about the renovations ongoing but boy did we figure it out after doing some research. We expected it to be a fiasco. It was not a fiasco. This is an honest review. We arrived on a Wednesday around 3:30 pm and departed on a Monday. I did not hear construction noises once. Upon check in they had very loud music playing. I realize it was to mask the sound of the work being done. That was the only time I was aware of noise. We were located in the beach tower on the top floor facing the mountain. The rooms were renovated a few years ago. It was consistent with typical Westin hotels and was comfortable. We could not hear any noise from our room. The views on the mountain side are pretty. There was a rainbow on most afternoons, you have views of the golf courses and you can hear the luau if you go out onto your deck (the luau must be temporarily moved to a space it isn't normally in. I would advise against doing it while it is in this spot). We had zero problems with the elevator. I don't know what people are talking about with complaints of the doors closing too slowly or having long waits. This was a non issue. The valet attendants were pleasant. We did not call ahead for our Jeep. We would just show up. At times it was really busy but the most we had to wait was 10 minutes. The room was cleaned every day with no issues. Twice we left the room to get a coffee and returned in 40 minutes and it had already been cleaned. We had no concerns with housekeeping. The staff were for the most part very friendly. On our first trio to the pool one of the managers was a bit rude to us because we were not wearing a wrist band (apparently you show them your room key and they wrist band you so they know you are at the resort). We didn't know that and he was a bit short with us. However, another employee witnessed this interaction and approached us on his own. He had four towels and set up chairs for us saying something to the effect of we didn't need to worry about a wristband when we are on vacation. We need to focus on relaxing and de-stressing. The pool situation is what it is. Part of it is still closed. The large slide is not open. However, there is an adult only pool that is open. There are also 2 other pools open including the one with the grotto. We never had an issue getting a pool chair. We also did not find the pools to be too crowded. The service was good at the pools. If you wanted something they took care of it. But they didn't bother you either. We chose to have our meals off site. Whaler's Village is very popular. Island Vintage Coffee is incredible. There is also a Hula grill and a Leilani's right next door. The shuttle is a good option to get into Lahaina, but you should be aware of how long the return journey will be. Because they drop off at the other hotels first it turns an 11 minute drive into a 40 minute journey. This was annoying. We got a great value for this hotel, especially considering we got a reduced rate on priceline. We did explore neighboring resorts and they are gorgeous. Obviously if I paid the same amount that the other resorts were charging I would have been livid. But the reality is we didn't.
Great location to beaches and great staff!
We stayed here for close to 12 days and had a great stay while here. Valet parking is about $30 a day and unlimited in and out. Pools are great and not too packed. We always managed to find available lounge chairs all hours of day. It's next to the beaches and outside the beach you can do patadailing with West Maui Patadailing or UFO for about $80-$99 per person. Although thinking back I think that money is better used for snorkeling tours that are 5 hours with free food and drinks. The parasailing lasts 10 mins in the air and that's about it. No photos or drinks or food. Hotel had areas under construction but I didn't mind it much since we were doing tours and outside most of the time. Today seems like construction is done. We didn't really use the hotel amenities much other than the pool. Food at pool was great. My daughter really liked the strawberry milkshake and pork nanchos. Pool donuts or noodles you have to bring your own but they do have an air machine you can use. You need wrist band for pool access and towel cards for towels. We did buffet breakfast at the burger place at hotel and it was pretty good but a bit pricy at about $36 an adult I think it was. We bought food at Safeway and spam musubi at ABC quite often. Valet parking was fairly quick because they have a large staff working there. Things moved quick and not too much wait. If you are doing tours there is a special parking area you have to wait for tour buses and not the main entrance. Most rooms had balconies and we dried our swimming clothes outside each day and dried within hours.
