good but gambling req needs work. also reservations all mixed up
When I booked by reservation I was told that there was no gambling requirement. But when I got there I was told that there was. The rep advised me that this information was on my confirmation email. But the confirmation email had other errors on it: it said that I was in the coral when in fact i was placed in the Royal (I wanted the Coral and was told twice that I got that). In any case it was in small print on the bottom. It should have been in big bold letters with many reminders. I still would have come but I would have brought more cash. I ended up having to use the ATM and pay a fee. No one at the casino or in guest services was any help. They told me that I should call QA but QA was on vacation. why didn't they know that? No one else was on vacation, why should QA be? Also the front desk was unsure about the gambling requirement. Why?

Never will be back!!!
Terrible stay and will not be back. I love luxury and this was not it. Very disappointing couldn't even watch a tv program in my room without it switching on and off. I have learned a valuable lesson I tried it and now don't have to worry about going back. Too high prices and not worth it!!

Disappointing Experience Due to Rude and Biased Staff
While the property itself has potential, our stay was overshadowed by disappointing interactions with the staff, particularly the security team and some service employees. My family and I repeatedly felt profiled by security, who would stop us for room key checks while allowing other guests, particularly those who appeared Anglo, to pass through without question—even if they weren’t wearing bracelets. This constant scrutiny made us feel unwelcome and unfairly targeted. Additionally, some of the service staff were outright rude. At McKenzie’s Conch, we were mocked for speaking Spanish, with the staff making nonsensical sounds to imitate our language. At Starbucks, the staff were condescending and dismissive while taking our order, which only added to the frustration. A more welcoming and respectful approach would have made a world of difference. Unfortunately, the lack of inclusivity and courtesy made it hard to fully enjoy what should have been a relaxing vacation. I hope the management addresses these concerns so future guests can feel valued and treated equally, regardless of their background.

The experience was okay.
The resort is average. They are earning a lot of money, but could stand to renovate. The royal hotel needs new mattresses. It takes 15 minutes for the hot water to turn on. The pools are cold and need to be heated for the winter. I ordered and amenity basket “junk basket” and the food was expired. Guest services remedied the issue.

Gorgeous Views but Lacking in Service
My mom and I spent 4 nights at The Royal Atlantis in a double room with ocean views. The views were spectacular, we could look directly into the sea turtle and shark pools under our window (8th floor). The room was newly renovated, nothing special, but had mostly what we needed. The resort itself is beautiful with plenty to do. There are many pools, water slides, and large fish tanks with sea life. The beaches are also spectacular! I’d recommend watching the sunset from The Cove beach at least one of the evenings. A nice touch is that the resort has water bottle refill stations throughout and they give you a reusable water bottle when you check in. That being said, the service at Atlantis was lacking especially for the price they charge. The staff is quite rude and don’t take pride in their work. I’ve traveled to post-Soviet countries and received better/friendlier service there. Whenever we approached an employee we were greeted with annoyance. The employees joked around and smiled to each other but as soon as we came up their faces fell and most of them tried to look busy or avoid eye contact and whenever we said hello it wasn’t returned. The hotel also seems inadequately staffed (overstaffed and understaffed at the same time). For example, we wanted to find out how early in advance we should arrive for Snorkeling at the Ruins. When we came up to the Adventure desk (right next to guest services), it was worked by one person, and the service desk had 4 employees with no guests to help. We waited in line for 35 minutes to ask a simple question and the service desk employees didn’t think to come over to help spread the workload and reduce wait time for guests. When we went to the Dolphin Cay there were at least 6-7 employees all talking among themselves and not one checked in to see if we needed help so we had to interrupt a conversation to ask a question about another adventure we had scheduled - playtime with dolphins. We did two activities through the resort: Snorkeling at the Ruins and Playtime with Dolphins, each $200 per person for roughly 1 hour. I’d say the Snorkeling at the Ruins is worth it because you’ll swim with some of the most gorgeous fishes located in the main large aquarium. The guides for both adventures were fantastic and enthusiastic about their work, it was easy to see that they loved what they do and they were well informed and were happy to answer questions. The only downside with playtime with dolphins was that majority of the activity was around taking pictures by the Alantis photographer, which would be great if the pictures were free. So you basically pay $200 to touch dolphins but mostly watch other people in the group take pictures with them. Food is also overpriced and underwhelming with an added VAT and 15% gratuity charge.
