Beautiful property! Awesome staff!
We had a one bedroom apartment with ocean view. It was lovely. It really over looks the pool but plenty of ocean can be seen. The one bedroom was very nice, however, two downfalls. The pull out bed was absolutely horrible! Even my teenager who can sleep anywhere could NOT sleep on it. For the price they charge they should provide a decent pull out! They say for 4 people, no way anyone could sleep alone, never mind two. The cot was fine, but a pain. The second complaint is that they show a FULL size fridge, we are a family of four, went to Costco, got there and only a bar fridge. It was very disappointing as we needed the fridge. Ok, besides those two issues, wow was it beautiful. The grounds, the staff, everything was luxurious. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable..best way to start the day. The restaurant was under construction. Room service sucked ...food was far from satisfactory no where near up to par of hotel (cheese plate was only good thing, we tried many things on menu) I loved the offbeat location, private, peaceful, serene. However, if you are going to be doing a lot of sightseeing in Maui it is a lot of driving going back out to the hotel as much as I love the hotel I would’ve chosen a different location just to reduce the driving . Amazing golf course! The staff was so polite, helpful, really go above and beyond. Watch the concierge, not that friendly and prices they told me were much higher than I found on my own. I wish we got spend more time relaxing at hotel. Swam with turtles right at our little beach. The pool is very noisy.... active, full, busy pool but the hotel was pretty full. They offer so much to do if you have the option to just chill there and enjoy the ritz. The walk along the coast there was one of the most beautiful sites we saw. I had great haircut and loved the spa! Overall it was a really great vacation. The ritz does spoil you.
It's the Ritz, need I say more?
We were originally booked at a different hotel and a week prior to us flying to Hawaii we received an email. The message was that we would be moved to the Rita-Carlton for our last four days in Hawaii. Sigh, you can imagine how upset we were. I hope you caught my sarcasm. Although the other hotel was nice it didn't have anything over the Ritz-Carlton. What a beautiful hotel. From the moment we arrived the valet service was great. Also the first impression with the long beautiful entryway was gorgeous! The front desk staff was very friendly. Our suite was lovely; we had a full kitchen, large living room, the balcony looked out onto the amazing grounds, our bedroom/bathroom was so wonderful and comfortable. The grounds including the pool area were so incredibly nice. The bar staff were very friendly and made everyone feel so comfortable. The amount of beautiful flowers around the grounds were unbelievable. The pool was the most perfect temperature. We didn't make it to the restaurant for any of our meals, but there is a cafe which makes it easy to pick up a quick breakfast. I could go on and on, but others reviewing this hotel have already done so. I'm making this short and sweet. It was a wonderful hotel!
Superb service and accommodations
We have stayed on Maui many times, but this was our first at the Ritz and in the Kapalua area. The area is beautiful, reminding us a little of our mountain home here in Colorado. The area is very upscale and peaceful as much as it is beautiful. The only downside of the area is that you need to take a shuttle or your car to get to much of the activity the island offers. We stayed in a two room suite which we found very updated and very clean. The hotel has a bit of older charm, which I thought was great, but definitely not tacky old Hawaiian as some hotels can be on the island. The service was above par. I would especially like to mention Grace at the front desk, Pablo and Travis at the pool area. The valet service was good, but if they were swamped(which was often) one did have to wait several minutes before getting a car. A couple of times we had to ask twice. I would say the valet could improve a little, but I do understand they were very busy. The other area that could use a little attention is the pool area. There were several missing tiles, and cracked and missing concrete in the pool area and one of the hot tubs had several jets not working. For a hotel of this caliber I guess I expect everything to be in top notch condition. This hotel is a little walk to the beach but there is a golf cart giving rides back and forth. Personally, I enjoyed the walk and the exercise, as at most it was a five to ten minute walk depending on where your room is. Something NOT to miss is the tiki lighting/ fire dance which happens every night at 7:30 in front of the Banyan restaurant. Very entertaining, we watch nearly every night of our stay! Also there was a mermaid reading to kids in the pool in the mid morning. As I said the service makes this hotel and it was impeccable every where you look. It's worth it to me to pay more when the service is so outstanding. As I mentioned, one must drive to get to Kaanapali or Lahaina, ten to fifteen minutes, which isn't bad. There is a shuttle but we never took it since we rented a car. DT Flemming beach at the bottom of the hill is a great beach as is Ironwood which is a five minute walk from the property. There is a boardwalk and coastal trail near Ironwood beach and we loved taking that walk. The Beach Shack restaurant had great burgers and shakes to die for. The Terrace had a good breakfast but it was very pricey so we only ate there once. The cafe had a great offering of snacks and coffees, but was a bit pricey as well. We went to the General Store nearly every day as they had great sandwiches and most offerings of a grocery store. However, if we wanted to save a bit of money there is a Safeway in Lahaina right next to a Starbucks if you need your fix. We will definitely come back here again.
The best of West Maui
We stayed here for the beginning half of my husbands 40th birthday trip. I originally booked us to stay the entire time in Wailea but kept having this nagging feeling that we would regret not staying in Kapalua for part of the time. Best decision I could have made! Upon arrival were warmly greeted by valet, bell service, and at the reception desk. In true Hawaiian welcome spirit we were given leis and guava juice. We arrived early afternoon and as we expected our room was not quite ready. However, we were notified that we had been upgraded to a partial ocean view. Thank you Ritz for recognizing the gold status and upgrading us based on your availability. We were able to change in the gym locker room and went out to hang by the pool for a couple hours. The staff at the pool set our chairs up with towel and we redeemed our for mai tais from the wait staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming. Relaxing by the beautiful pool was a great way to start our trip. Around mid afternoon we were notified that our room was ready. Our room was very nice and had a great view of the Kapalua hills and DT Flemming beach. I have stayed at many hotels and don't understand the complaints about the rooms not being up to date here. The room was just as pictured when I made our reservation. So what you see is what you get. Loved having a mini fridge and the nespresso machine. Housekeeping was on point each morning and evening. We loved this hotels location! The weather was great everyday and there was always a nice breeze so it didn't ever feel too hot. I read the negative reviews on how far it is from the beach. Give me a break people, IT.IS.NOT.FAR! If you have trouble walking or are out of shape you may have some difficulties with the hill to get to and from, but have no fear because there is a golf cart that picks up and they will have you down to the beach within 60 seconds! The negative reviews on how far away it is are grossly exaggerated! DT Flemming is also a great beach and you will have a blast boogie boarding or just admiring it from the Burger Shack. Having the Honolula Store within a 5 minute walk was so convenient. I loved walking over there for breakfast each morning. The best part of the Ritz location is it being set on the beautiful Kapalua Coastal Trail. One of the highlights of our trip was walking along the trail to Dragons Teeth and then along Oneloa Bay where we saw a giant sea turtle resting in the sand. Just a bit past that we found a spot where our kids could jump off rocks into a safe little cove. Walk a little further and you will arrive at Kapalua bay where there are turtles galore to snorkel with. Having the shuttle service to take us to restaurants within Kapalua was great. A few restaurants outside the hotel were within easy walking distance but valet was quick to help us get a ride on a shuttle to the restaurants that were a bit further away. We enjoyed each dinner we had in Kapalua. Each evening we would end our night in the lobby lounge. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment and the comfortable atmosphere. The service was friendly and the drinks were always tasty. We would not hesitate to stay at the Ritz in Kapalua again. It was a great way to settle into our stay on Maui. Nice laid back vibe and lots of Aloha spirit around us. It was an easy drive to everything on the West side and a nice contrast to Wailea. Thank you Ritz for making our stay so pleasant. We look forward to returning!
Very cold inside the hotel
Probably because its location.. the aircon inside the hotel was so cold...there were very nice painting inside the hotel’s shop but the price was way too high for purchasing. Would not recommend to buy inside the hotel .
