Good place overall
Good overall place however the quality of the drinks and food are not top standard also they charge very high for the Wifi, minimum Wifi days package is 4 days. The Mexican and Italian restaurants are good. Also the seaweed on the hotel beach creates a bad view and generate a bad smell on the back of the hotel but i believe this situation is happening on the whole coast, not only at the Reef Coco Beach.
Great service, not so great rooms
The staff were all very friendly and the dining options were very good however the rooms were nothing to brag about. Broken dresser, leaking bathroom ceiling, water damage, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Probably would not stay at this resort again.
Stay at Reef Coco Beach
The most unfortunate part of the vacation is out of the hotel's control which was the seaweed and inability to swim in the ocean. What is in your control are the postings of what the beach looks like, there were posts on instagram and even the hotel's website which showed bright blue pictures of the beach which were dated for the time we were there. I found this to be wholly misleading and frustrating. Some of the staff was AWESOME Cristian and Vanessa were great. Some of the waitstaff were amazing as well. We had Jaime for our Italian dinner and Fernando (I may have that wrong) when we had Japanese and they really enhanced the experience. We ate in the Mexican restaurant twice with the same waiter who seemed very apathetic the whole time. There is definitely a difference in service and it is not even across the board which was unfortunate. Cleaning staff were great and I like the room.
will never go back there
the service was terrible, the drinks were weak as kool-aide , even after the gold band upgrade. we waited 2 hours at the snack tables and never was served and after we went and found a server and placed our order never received our food. the entertainment was lame. nothing exiting and only a one hour show every night was boring. it was the same show just a different theme.
Relaxing week by the Pool
Our daughter gifted us a week at Reef Coco Beach and we loved the small size and location. We are a middle age couple just looking to relax. The staff are wonderful, gracious, and friendly. Especially the buffet and bar staff no matter how busy. I enjoyed every meal in every restaurant (salmon/Italian and hibachi/Japanese) my husband was a little pickier, but there are so many options it's not hard to fill up. And you're close enough to walk downtown for dining and shopping. The beach is wide for that area, however, the seaweed or dead vegetation which is washing in from the south is very bad this year. they rake daily but it does start to pile up and have an odor. The small activity crew do their best with what they are given. They really were fun and entertaining, low pressure if you'd rather sit back and cheer. Vanessa was the sweetest! The rooms were adequate and if not housekeeping would gladly assist in whatever was needed. All rooms have a balcony view of the pool and gardens.I believe this is an older resort that would benefit from some upgrades (bathrooms and softer mattress) but it is still beautiful and one of their best assets is the staff.
