    The Crane is an extraordinary resort!

    Everything about the Crane exceeds high expectations. The property is gorgeous, modern and well-maintained. The units are beautiful and well-designed.The staff and service is unsurpassed. There is a good variety of quality restaurants. The beach is wonderful.

    Not 5 star as advertised

    We stayed at the Crane for a family long weekend. Unfortunately it disappointed more than delighted. While our room was nice enough it was not up to the standard of a 5 star hotel - amenities were sub par, cheap paper products and Kleenex that didn’t fit the available holder. That said our two bedroom suite was acceptable. But where this hotel really slips from is in its service which was lacklustre at best. One rainy day we inquired about umbrellas to get from our room to the main area; we were told there were none, only to pass several hotel employees walking with hotel umbrellas as we hurried past in the rain. Not one offered up their umbrella or an escort. The restaurant food was generally only fine and the atmosphere in the main restaurants was lacking. When we went to the pool the towel hut was out of fresh towels - and the hotel was not busy enough to justify this. Add to this a very rowdy neighbour in the suite next to ours - it felt like we were at a very different hotel than the one we expected. One bright spot, the room service staff were excellent. Next trip to Barbados we will likely check out another hotel unless reviews improve in the meantime. The raw ingredients are there but this hotel needs to remember that going from good to great all depends on service.

    Peace and serenity

    Great view of the ocean from the balcony. Listen to and watch the glistening waves at night. Hang out at the beach or pools during the day, Dine at the on site facilities or prepare your own meals in the full sized kitchen.

    This resort is truly out of this world...

    We have just returned from our third stay at The Crane this year since my first stay in August, I think that shows how much we love it. What can I possibly say about this resort to do it justice! Every little detail is luxury personified. I have stayed in several room types all have been fantastic but the 28ft infinity pool rooms are literally out of this world. All of the restaurants are superb, the pools are all beautiful and everything is so clean. It really is paradise. But above all what makes this resort is the staff, I have never had service anywhere in the world like it, especially in the Caribbean. I was an air hostess for 8 years so I have stayed in a lot of hotels to compare this to. From Karen Oliver who is the Director of Front House who couldn’t have possibly done more for us and made our entire stay perfect, all of the staff in every restaurant and bar and the absolutely outstanding kids club staff Auntie Wendy and Tshani. One of my daughters has an allergy to the sun (quite an issue in Barbados!) so the kids club facilities are really important to us that she loves them. We couldn’t get either of our children out of this kids club! Wendy and Tshani really have created something very special here. Susan who served us at breakfast and the Carriage House also deserves an extra special mention, what a fantastic lady. Nothing was ever too much trouble (even when my girls asked for chocolate muffins...they magically appeared in 5 minutes!) Our room was serviced daily to a standard I have never seen before, quite often we would pop back for a bucket or towel and then two hours later the lady would still be there working. It was spotless and the private pool was the cleanest I have ever seen. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and if you don’t have something, just ask. It will be there before you know it. The breakfasts are amazing and the view is simply spectacular. There are some reviews that mention the seaweed which I was concerned about before my first stay, I have honestly never seen any in my 3 stays this year. The beach is picture perfect like a postcard and I attach a photo. The tag line on the website for The Crane says ‘When you get here, you’ll just know’ and it couldn’t be more correct. Already planning the next stay, I’m so pleased we found The Crane ☺️ We will probably end up buying an apartment next time we love it so much! Thank you to every member of staff that looked after us so well.

    Very Disappointed - Not worthy of it’s reputation

    We had high expectations of this hotel due to its impressive reputation. We stayed for only one night for my wife’s birthday in a one bed suite with its own private 28’ pool. We did arrive early as we were already on the island staying at another hotel, check in is a late 4pm. The member of staff who checked us in said they would try to get us into our room early as the other rooms weren’t occupied and confirmed she would call us this was at midday. At 15.50, a mere 10 minutes prior to room check in time I went to see what was going on as we’d heard nothing, I was told our room still wasn’t ready, I said I would wait 10mins there in the check in area, they made a call and found out our room had been ready for a while, this of course was slightly irritating. They asked if we wanted a guide to take us to our room but we declined as we already knew where it was as we had been here for some 4 or so hours. Conclusion thus far... Service is far from fitting for a place of this stature. The room itself looked excellent! Lots of room, nice finishings (although tired) and having our own pool was fantastic. However, having a gardener trimming the bushes on the edge of our pool from when we arrived till sunset wasn’t ideal as we couldn’t really relax knowing someone was watching. No need to worry though...he was back at 7am the next day. The lack of privacy for a room which is usually $960 per night including taxes is quite a revelation. We would recommend a room higher up without a pool or with the rooftop pool, don’t bother with the larger pool unless you want everyone walking past to be able to see everything you’re doing...for some you may want this, after all it is quite the commodity to have your own pool in a resort. Breakfast was included and was a buffet service..however you could also have a la carte which included a champagne ham eggs Benedict. Be aware though... it is not clear you have to walk all the way to the back of the restaurant to access and should wait to be seated. We noticed that some of the door handles were hanging off and the chairs were tired, showing signs of rust and stains being cream in colour. After we had finished we were presented with a bill for $100 plus tax plus tip, we reminded the staff that breakfast was included with our room but were told we had to sign anyway. A mere mention of this would have been great .. if the staff said “your breakfast is included but you will need to sign this off anyway” would have meant that we wouldn’t have had to call the staff over to explain our status. Not all the staff were happy or friendly which is the opposite of the rest of Barbados. No staff smiled at check out or greeted us by name, just as a reminder, this was booked as a birthday trip for my wife, they did leave a card in the room but all we got upon check out was a little card asking us to review our experience. Maybe a smile and a question of how our experience was would have preempted this but that wasn’t taken into consideration. The beach is rated as one of the top 10 in the world. I can’t find anything to back that up. I would love to know how (other then entering a competition) this is the case. I understand they groom the beach of seaweed but it is very small and the sea is VERY choppy. I cannot see how they justify the price of the hotel here but I can understand how they won a 4 diamond award 2012-2016 and then not since, maybe someone has tried to cut costs by cutting corners as the years have gone by. Things here have grown tired and have not been replenished as required. Compared to similar level hotels around the world such at the Wynn in Vegas, the Plaza in New York or the Ritz in London, they know how to treat their guests, I would say The Crane lost touch with what was.
