A Gem in Holetown
We selected The Club for our second visit to Barbados since 2017 and it was everything that my fellow travelers on TripAdvisor said about it. The first very good piece of advice was making sure we had an oceanfront ground-level room in building 100. Far enough from the main restaurant where all the entertainment at night took place, but still close to the activities if that is what you want. Other than the nights we went out for dinner, most of our meals were in the main restaurant and if you did not mind upgrading, the choices really opened-up (I think I had lobster 3 of the 9 nights were were at The Club). But don't ignore Enid's Restaurant (the only other restaurant on the resort). The food there is more local, but excellent! All the staff were pleasant and helpful during our stay. This is not a resort if you are looking for a big beach on the property. But with a little walk, you have beaches on either side of the resort that I am sure will give you everything you are looking for. All in all, a pleasant stay and I would recommend it for those that like to just kick-back and relax.
We stayed in March 19 and were lucky to be given an upgrade to a seafront room which was decorated in typical Caribbean style and very clean and peaceful. Food in buffet for breakfast was plentiful and Heather’s omelettes are the best! Evening buffet good and again varied. We ate in the a la carte restaurant Esme? which was “ok” but food there a bit on the heavy side as traditional Bajan fare. Beach, like a few on the West Coast is sadly non existent so you have to go up or down Coast to get proper sand between your toes! Sun beds plentiful though and both beach team and bar staff really welcoming and attentive. Water sports such as Paddle Boarding, Hobie Cats or Water skiing none existent for all of the ten days we were there due to weather apparently but I’m not so sure, just seemed a bit odd? Overall I think the new ownership will ensure The Club’s already higher standards are enhanced even further in line with others in its Caribbean portfolio. We would return.
Special accolades! Thank you, Club Barbados!
I normally do not post reviews, but wanted to acknowledge how the hotel management truly cares about the guests. I have stayed at the resort numerous times. The food is very good, and the staff very friendly and attentive. Last month, the resort was closing for renovations and, on the last day, was down to 16 guests (I was one of them). The dining room had closed, and they took all of us out to dinner ... at one of the best restaurants on the island! Heather encouraged everyone to have whatever they wanted (both food and drink). It was truly a fun evening, and I was tremendously impressed how they went to such great lengths to make sure that we all had a great experience. Well done! And, thanks again.
A little jewel in paradise!
Club Barbados was not what I was expecting, but found to be a nice little gem in paradise. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent, thanks Chef Matthew! You can tell there was a lot of thought in the preparation and presentation of all the meals. The grounds and rooms were well manicured and clean. I had a room with a balcony and view of the bar and pool area – you would think the noise level would be a negative, but it wasn’t bad at all. I especially enjoyed Manager’s Cocktail party with the entertainment, the opportunity to purchase items from the local craftsmen/women and the fish fry with the other guest and locals. My only recommendation would be to consider cross-generational activities and music; such as afterhours lounge for baby bombers. Not everyone want to turn-in at 10:00p, especially on holiday! I understand that the resort will be closed for updates, I look forward to coming back and seeing all the updates (to include my suggestion)!
