An excellent week
Had a room overlooking the swimming pool. Good facilities and excellent staff. Surroundings and beaches are very nice indeed. Due to close for refurbishment in June so hopefully will be even nicer when we visit in March 2020.
An honest overview
Lets get the few negatives out of the way to start with. One day I will find a hotel that enforces the 'no sunbed reserving' rule. I chose this hotel because of it's 'British Colonial' look but there's no doubt that this place needs a serious revamp. My room was adequate, ice bucket on the side but no means of making ice-cubes. Small fridge but no mini-bar. The bathroom sink had an unattached rubber plug ! The grounds are in definite need of attention and there were obvious health and safety issues in places, trip hazards etc. On a positive note, the staff were mostly friendly and helpful. The range, quality and quantity of food was very good and the fish dishes were particularly well prepared. There's no beach to speak of but there is a sandy terrace above the seawall and sunbeds were always available as were beach towels. Would I go back ? Definitely going back to Barbados but it's doubtful it will be to this hotel .
First off let me say the pictures of this place on their website is wrong. There is no beach, the rooms are old and in need of updating. No light in the shower stall, and the handle for the water kept going around, very hard to get the water the right temperature. The grout in the pool was black in lots of places. Not much of a selection in the 2 restaurants for dinner. The upside, the wait staff was very pleasant and attentive and the drinks were descent.
Did not enjoy our visit
This was our second visit to The Club and we were disappointed. The hotel is due to close so perhaps this is the cause of the hotel being so run down. Food was ok - but everything tasted of bacon fat. Breakfasts were good. The room was clean and large with an amazing view. The drinks were seriously lacking. No tonic, no diet mixers, no fizz and really poor range of top shelf drinks. Staff are lovely and made the resort. Collision, Cheryl, Elvis are to name a few. The sports staff, esp Dana, are excellent. But you can't canoe or hobby cat from the hotel. Snorkeling is good. When we arrived the hotel was packed with a cruise ship set of guests. I mean packed - it was rammed. Really very unpleasant. The hotel couldn't cope with the volume of demands. This really spoilt our trip and in the end we wanted to come home. The room whilst large and clean was close by the entertainment area so at night it was difficult to sleep. The music did generally stop by 11pm but the volume until then was bad. The general manager ignored us. The other managers kept passing our concerns down the 'chain of command'. All in all really poor leadership. We were very sad, as we so enjoyed our first trip. The hotel needs to decide the type of holiday guest they wish to attract. The previous week we had spent at a sister hotel in Antigua - Pineapple Beach. This was amazing. We wish we had stayed in Antigua.
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the club ,this is our 5th time at this resort and it never fails .There we’re a few problems,no tonic but they acquired some ,the sun beds were dirty ,they cleaned them ,it is going to close for a couple of months for improvements so maybe that was the reason for the issues. The staff are amazing and so lovely,it’s like going back to see old friends, Heather,Collis kym ,Cathy-Anne ,Paulette ,durwin and so many more ,they are an asset to the club .The food is excellent, try Enid’s for something different. The snorkelling is great ,with lots of different fish to see .Try this place ,we will be going back .
