The resort also offers a "Try Dives" program, which allows guests to go scuba diving in the pool on a daily, complimentary basis. As we drove up to the hotel I knew we made the right choice. All the concierges were extremely warm and inviting. The hotel extremely comfortable to the eye. As we were walking to our bungalow on stilts, I felt we were walking in the jungle. The room and service were outstanding. Now for the food! I lost weight, 2 lbs. My wife thought the food was good, not great. I was absolutely not impressed. I was in the restaurant business 39 years.
Felt a bit like the Garden of Eden
This was our first experience with a couples resort, all-inclusive and being in Jamaica and was a great experience all around. The "tree house" rooms are cozy, quiet and secluded in a lovely, well-groomed tropical garden. If doesn't feel like a "typical resort" but more like a retreat. Very peaceful and quiet throughout. The staff are first-class. Food was consistently very good (and I'm a picky eater); always something available for you to eat, with many choices. There is daily fogging for mosquitoes, and we didn't notice a need to put on bug spray (each got only one nibble when we sat outside). The resort staff really go out of their way to be sure you are enjoying yourself and to meet your needs. They assisted with lost luggage calls, reservations, calls for taxi, etc. whenever needed. Can't say enough about the lovely ambiance and peaceful feeling here. The walk across the street to the beach was not a deterrent at all. It felt very safe and relaxing to just stroll around on the grounds. You will hear the sounds of nature: singing birds during the day, and singing frogs at night, and most (but not all) units do not have glass behind shutters - some rooms do. I was concerned we might get too hot as a result, but the air conditioning and ceiling fans kept you comfortable. If you like it really cool, I would advise requesting rooms with glass windows. We hope to go back again.
Our 10th wedding anniversary was wonderful.
This place is just amazing, wonderful, beautiful, tranquil, and a place I can't wait to return to. Everything about this place was great. The food daily was wonderful, I never knew you could serve snapper so many wonderful was. The Chef's selection dinner and the Lotus Leaf restaurant were both superb. I don't have anything bad to say except my trip was too short. The themed buffets nightly was a great way to try diffent foods, the bars were great to try different drinks. All of the staff were friendly, and made you feel super welcome. We're already planning our next stay. The pictures I have are just like the advertisements, this place is legit. What you see in the brochure is what you get, prefection.
The Perfect (Almost !) Couples Resort, LOL !
This was my 15th visit to Jamaica, my 10th to Negril (my favorite place, it's Heaven on Earth !) but my 1st stay at Sunset. This is now the ONLY place I will stay when I come back ! It's the perfect blend of what's great about All-Inclusives, Boutique Hotels, Beachfront Properties & Adults only Havens. The staff are amazing, not only great at their jobs but so friendly & warm that you can't help but feel like part of their extended family. Tobian is now my long lost cousin, lol ! The grounds are immaculate & beautiful, this must be what the Garden of Eden was like. The private beach is gorgeous & features amazing sunsets. Walking across the street to get to it isn't really an issue unless, like my lady, you're walking with a boot on while you deal with a foot injury. It's a short walk but for our particular situation a golf cart ride would have made it perfect. The food, including the buffets, is outstanding but if you come here, you MUST try the A La Carte restaraunts, the Chef's Showcase & if you really want to get romantic, set up a private dinner. We celebrated our last night with one & it was worth every penny of the extra charge ! You, your loved one, your waiter, your chef, beautiful settings & spectacularly delicious food, drinks & champagne from Appetizer to Dessert, a slice of Heaven for sure ! The rooms are spacious & comfortable, but could use dressers instead of shelves for your clothes. You feel one with nature sitting on your lanai, listening to the tree frogs at night or scanning the grounds in the morning. Take it from a Ja-merican, mon (I was told on my 12th visit that you become Ja-merican) who has stayed in Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay, Rose Hall, Mo Bay & Lucea (Grand Palladium), the essence of what Jamaica is all about is in Negril. The best place to stay in Negril - I've stayed at large all-inclusives (Couples Negril & Swept Away, Hedonism & RIU Tropical Bay), boutique hotels (the Westender & Idle Awhile), is Sunset at the Palms, the perfect blend of the best ingredients from all of these places !
A little slice of paradise
We'd been looking forward to this holiday for quite some time, followed online updates and reviews avidly, and were not let down. Our room was lovely, clean and spacious. The treehouses give privacy and peace from the central bars and diners. Our balcony was a haven for watching birds and lizards. We enjoyed the food and drink facilities inside the hotel. There was enough choice without it being overwhelming, and we felt like we got to enjoy each bar and restaurant a few times during our 10 days, as well as sample most of the different meals and cocktails available. We thought there was sufficient variety at meal times. The bar staff are very attentive. For breakfast, Fitzroy's egg station was the highlight. For the beach bar, sunset nachos with jerk chicken was spot on! Lynette helped us in the gift shop, with medicine and stamps. We were always greeted warmly and helped where we needed it. The concierges, in particular Loleta and Daniella, were exceptional. No request was too much and they saved one of our days from a cancelled tour by arranging a private tour at very short notice. We were always greeted with warm smiles asking us how our days were going and were assisted efficiently whenever we needed it. Sunset at the Palms was the tonic we both needed, an escape from busy lives and into a paradise.
