Great food and entertainment, good value for money, welcoming for all
Excellent staff, wonderful food in most locations, facility under renovation and repair (elevator) but well maintained. Large beach and pool, family-appropriate entertainment every night, plenty of poolside competitions and activities in the day. Just two warnings: sidewalks along the boulevard outside Sunscape are sketchy in places, ready to trip you. And the food in the Italian restaurant: can you imagine the appetizer and the entree both served on a bed of mashed potatoes rather than pasta?

Awesome staff!
The staff was wonderful! Oscar and Christian bellboys made the process easy and they were very nice. Check in and check out the same. Waiters like Alan and Nelson and others were super at the buffet! Beds are very comfy and rooms are clean. Cleaning ladies and the construction guys beside me, were smiling and friendly. Buffet food was good. Great pool and beach. Very good time and good facility!

Great location, beautiful beach
We did a Sunwing vacation package which all worked well, with a minor flight delay going back. Note very stripped down 3/3 to a row planes - zero entertainment system or plugs to recharge your devices. Flight takes a lot longer going down than coming back. Your on your own to find your included bus/van transport to the hotel, but it wasn't hard to find - beware the timeshare guys. The Sunscape hotel is older and in need of serious modernizing/ updating. I would rate it a 3* at best. Room 815 had no A/C, smelled of mildew, something in the bathroom was leaking and the lighting was very poor. But it had a very nice pool/ ocean facing balcony. Staff kept the hotel in general/room very clean, with plenty of towels. A hair dryer, shower gel and shampoo was supplied, and after 2 days facecloths appeared. We didn't use anything in the stocked fridge or the safe, and there was an iron & board in the closet. Internet is spotty throughout the building. The WiFi reminded me of dial-up years ago, so don't count on it to access apps or if you have to be able to communicate with others. There were a mix of generally older adults (lots of Canadians), and Mexican families with lots of younger children. Very few 20 somethings, it was not a partying or loud crowd. Entertainment was typical, some talent displays, disco/tech music, karaoke but it ended fairly early - nothing amazing to see. There are actives with pool staff, and things for kids (movie). The food is the same as all mexican resorts, we went to the Italian specialty restaurant (no reso needed) twice. The other restaurant Tiki Taco was stuffy, and had the same buffett as the main open restaurant which was beautifully located with pool/ocean views. Great buffett selections, omelet bar and lots of seafood available. Strange ideas for salads and the desserts while they look good, are surprisingly not very tasty. We enjoyed the Cafe specialty coffees, but found the treats also not very good. The food truck had limited selection, hit and miss service, and you cannot take food back to your chaise lounge. The location of the hotel is excellent and the beach is lovely with plenty of loungers/umbrellas. The ocean is rough with an undertow, but nothing washes up. Great beach for walking, ocean is not ideal for swimming but there are lifeguards on duty. Jets skis, parasailing, fishing, horseback riding are all available, as are the never-ending vendors who are polite but occasionally annoying. The weather was lovely after the first day, average 25/week but a very hot sun luckily with a breeze. We fortunately arrived after a 6.2 earthquake that brought cooler temps our first day only. Sunrise/sunsets are not spectacular, and with the mountains the bay remains misty in higher altitudes. The whales were active, and easy to see from the beach - delightful to watch. The pool was very nice, warm enough and not crowded. Lots of loungers, but typical - get there early to reserve. We went on the 'Hop on Hop off" bus which was an excellent tour, well worth it to see the town/coast line. We also went on the city bus that we got right outside the resort for 10 pesos per ride, and went back to downtown to see two markets that were amazing. People are very friendly and will help with directions - many were long term (15-20 + years) Canadians who go back each year. We felt very safe, but wear good shoes to navigate the uneven cobblestones! Traffic in PV is brutal, but the hotel is very close to the airport so a short drive for your transfers. It is crazy busy though - note the outdoor bar is outrageously expensive for a drink. Overall, we had a great, relaxing vacation but I wish I had known it was not a 4* or what I would call a "spa". If you just want clean, it is a great choice due to all the mentioned positives. Hilton really needs to give this very well located hotel a face-lift/add some spa services to be a 4 or 5*, and it would be a true destination.

Family friendly resort, great price.
Family friendly resort! Staff was great, kids club was perfect for our kids aged 5 and 9. They pick and choose whoch activities to attend. Resort is rundown, but staff was amazing and very accomadting. Buffet food was great, no complaints, lots of choices for adults and kids. There was different entertainment each night. Would definitely go back with the kids.
