Diving was great, would not choose this resort again

We went with a group on a scuba vacation. We had a great experience with the Ocean Encounters dive shop and the crew there. Special shout out to Captain Bart and Dive Masters Layla and Brian! They were phenomenal. I would not stay at this resort again. The staff was all very friendly, but the room was dated and the AC didn't work well enough to keep the heat and humidity at bay. The food was not what we had hoped for. The buffet had little variety day to day and was not very appealing. We enjoyed the Italian and seafood restaurants and the Japanese restaurant was delicious. We went to dinner at the Grill and waited 3 hours for a tough steak. I love diving in Curacao, so I hope we get to go again, but we'll stay someplace else.

    Third Stay

We love coming to Sunscape for vacation! The beach, pools, Sun club preferred, and staff are top notch. Rooms need updated and food is good, not great. But, we always have a good time and make the most of it while we are there.

    Major Health and Safety Concerns

The entire property was not cared for, very unsanitary, outdated, dirty. We had a terrible problem with sand fly larvae in our bathroom, MANY worms in the shower that we notified the staff about. They sprayed with bleach and rinsed out the shower but it didn't fix the problem. I have videos of this. The air conditioning stopped working one of the nights. The room had a musty rotten smell. There was a loud mechanical noise outside the room every night for hours and made it hard to sleep. The restaurants were not sanitary, no food coverings and flies and birds were landing and eating the same food we were. The Rendezvous and Pool bar smelled like rotting garbage and sewer water. I witnessed a huge rat scavenging near the Hibachi restaurant. The staff seemed like they did not care about customer service and that we were an inconvenience. We stayed for our 15th wedding anniversary, and tried booking a private dining experience that we were told was not possible and first come first serve. We were also told we would have a bottle of wine to celebrate, which never came. The adult beverages seemed watered down, or maybe no alcohol at all. We are so disappointed that we booked this trip for our 15th anniversary TWO years ago, and this was the experience we got. Will never stay at this place again. I can't believe this place hasn't been shut down, in the United States it would have been closed by the health department. The ONLY positive about this property was the beach.

This was the worst trip ever! The rooms had no air conditioning, it smelled moldy and musty. No one cared to help us. We didn’t get an air conditioned room until we were 5 days in!! The food was disgusting! The birds pooped all over the tables and the flies landed on the food. The only halfway decent place to eat was the indoor Italian restaurant and that was only because the animals weren’t in there because it was indoors. The food was still terrible! The pool tiles was chipped and the bottom needed painting. The rocks were sharp to try and walk into the ocean. We paid extra to stay in the sun club and the passed appetizers were one piece of pineapple and one grape on a skewer!! This is the worse place to stay! It’s filthy and the food is gross!!!

    Dive Trip 2024

This was a group trip for 33 people mainly divers. The resort is a good resort for the cost. All inclusive is hard to find on the island and this may be the only one (save for sandals and a Dutch all inclusive). The place is nice, the people are nice, the rooms are fine (its tropical heat so the AC works but not like your used to in the US). The diving is great !!(Ocean Adventures is the dive company and they are absolutely fantastic!) The only thing I think that would really fix this place to be more than a 3 star resort is to fix the food issues. It takes a long time to be seated for ANY meal (unless you do the buffet which is a mix between American and Dutch cuisine and isn't anything special). Once your order your meals at any sit down restaurant it takes about 1.5 hour to get your food. (food is fine, nothing special but it will fill you up and you'll be okay with it). Drinks at bars flow fast and cold so no problems there. Just the food situation. They need more tables and chairs and to have some of the food premade as silly as it sounds, the veggies could all be precooked and waiting, the fries there should be pans of them ready to go. For lunch a hot dog and hamburger place should be able to seat you and feed you within 15 mins (not 3 hours like we experienced). Cook up some hot dogs and hamburgers and have them ready to go toss them on some buns and let's eat. Overall the resort is a 3.5 star resort and nothing more. Hyatt is supposed to be putting some money into it in the future and maybe that will help with food situation.
