Worst resort
Very poor service, pool bar closed for “construction” but nothing done for 8 days. Ran out of cups for drinks one night, two beer taps inoperative and one so slow one cup over a minute. Long lines to get drinks. Specialty restaurants closed often. Food very poor out of over thirty resorts we have been to the food was ranked 30th. Would never go back. We had to find our room nobody took us there as normal. Resort was clean and room was always cleaned.

So pleased with our stay!
If you're looking for an excellent beach and great service, Sunscape is a great choice. We were so impressed with bar and cafe staff, as well as with the facilities. The pool was clean and beach is incredible. We had no issues finding chairs at either, and were pleased with the level of entertainment. Food was great, and we enjoyed all a la carte restaurants.

Terrible
Worst experience ever. Don't go. Unsafe experience . Hotel staff and management handle things terribly . Don't waste your money here . Go somewhere better . Not relaxing . Food bland , service poor, room leaking. Long line ups. Unsafe. Don't choose this spot, spend a little more and go to a different location.

Perfect sunsets
the beach had plenty of chairs with still leaving a lot of room to enjoy the beach. The snorkeling right at the resort was a lot of fun. The sunsets were a nightly routine not to be missed. The staff kept everything in great shape and always clean.

Come for the snorkeling!
Our family of 4 just spent a week at Sunscape. We will definitely be returning. So many mixed reviews. I feel like it really depends what your vacation interests are. We go 100% for the reef and ocean life. My husband and i are already certified divers and my son did his certification dives while we were here. Ocean Encounters (onsite) was seamless to work with! I walked to and from their lions dive marina dive shop (half mile away) several times throughout the 1.5 days course with no issues. I would not go only for the hotel itself. It was satisfactory. Staff is always happy and helpful! The rooms are a bit dated. We stayed in 8221 sun club right next to the beach (ocean view double room). Loved the sun club beach. Would pay for the upgrade next time just to be on that side. I am not a huge fan of loud music and boisterous atmosphere. Relaxation on the sun club side is much more my vibe. Room was good. Bed was comfortable. Pillows are terrible. I was happy to have my own travel pillow. Ac worked great as long as the doors stated shut as much as possible. Water was hot. Large shower. However shower only had one glass door and they tried to tell us it was made that way. (Can obviously tell has 2 tracks, and we renovate houses so we found this comical.) They gave us a shower curtain which worked perfectly and even allowed more than one person to use the bathroom at same time with some privacy. Shower drain was very clogged. By the time you were finished with your shower it was 1/4” from overflowing. Amazing views from the room. Always quiet at night. Food was good! We never tried oceana. Ate mainly at buffet. Always found something we liked. Fruit was delicious! Ate a couple times at Bluewater grill, really good food but slow service. We were able to get hibachi grill reservations one night (Sat seemed slower at the resort). Res for 5:30, seated and started to be served 6-7. Delicious but exercise patience. Drinks were great! My fav was a bamba (amaretto, baileys, blue curacao) and mojitos. However swim up bar was being renovated. One bar in main fam pool area and one in sunclub. Only 1-2 bartenders at any time. No waitressing on beach, have to get your own drinks. First world problems! You have to rise early to get chairs. We are always in the water snorkeling at sunrise so not a problem for us but if you sleep in the premium chairs are taken. Sunscape could do to add some chairs. They are pretty spread out with lots of room for more. Snorkeling was next to none!! That is what we would come back for!! We bring our own gear and snorkel all the way from the sunclub rooms to the dive dock. Then circle outside the wall all the way back and get back in on the shallow rocks by the public beach. I would not go if not high tide as I’m not sure how much clearance above the rocks you’d have to swim over. Saw 4 different types of eels. Tons of parrotfish. They get pretty big here! Tons of smaller fish. Even some porcupine fish, drums, and cowfish. You will not be disappointed! Even saw one lionfish near the dive dock. I was told there’s a resident octopus that feeds early evening. I snorkeled literally 14 hours at least and kept searching but never did see him. We had a rental car so traveled north to playa piskado, playa lagun, and grote knipe. So beautiful. Next time we will air bnb for half the trip and dive the north side and then stay at sunscape for the second half. Rental car via hertz. The lot is connected to the airport so we picked up and were off in 20 min. Keep in mind for the return (at least if you’re flying american air) the ticket counter does not even open until less than 3 hours before your flight. So no sense getting there super early. Hope you have as much fun as we did!
