Mid-range and Mid-age Resort
Mid-range resort and price for Curaçao. The place is getting tired looking and needs some attention. Breakwater for beach a great idea but shoreline is rocky. Food and beverage was very good. Room was comfortable and every place on the resort was within a comfortable walk. Weather was fantastic, sunshine every day.

Great experience and fabulous house reef
Sunscape is a very solid clean Caribbean resort. The rooms are well sized, a bit dated, but clean and with very comfortable beds. The service is very good and all staff that we dealt with were friendly and tried their best to accommodate our requests. The food was good to very good and the Sun Club (in my humble opinion) was worth the extra money (nicer rooms, a private beach and pool area, and a separate beach restaurant). However, the best thing was the house reef comprised of a rock break wall that runs the length of the resort. It was built some years ago and has lots of colorful fish on the inside and lots of cool coral formations and fish on the outside (you have to deal with some swells and stay close to the rocks as it is open ocean with some boat traffic). The break wall also creates a very calm swimming area in front of the beach, so it was very good for weak swimmers or for a relaxing float. You could bring water shoes as there are some rocks when you enter. There is a dive operation basically attached to the resort (Ocean Encounters), so scuba divers can get out easily for boat dives. The entertainment was a bit tame but for more exciting night life, Mambo Beach is just a 5 minute walk away (you could also easily walk to the Sea Aquarium). The ride into town by bus or cab is relatively short (no free shuttle - although they do have a rental car company on site (Dollar). We used a company that dropped off and picked up our car at the resort. Not huge and not 5 star, but a very enjoyable stay for the price!

DISREGARD THE NEGATIVES AND JUST GO - YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!
My husband and I first stayed at Sunscape in 2013 when it was a Breezes Resort. The following year, ownership changed to A&M Resorts. Since then, it has changed once again to Hyatt. Prior to the Covid era, we stayed here 6 times. I must admit it has been a few years since we have been back. We have not stayed here since Hyatt took over - not because we didn't want to, but because of personal circumstances. We decided to return this year at the end of March and despite the reviews (which we never believe anyway) we can't wait to get to our "second home". That is exactly how we feel about Curacao and the Sunscape, and I don't believe that has changed. The atmosphere and people are wonderful. So please, take some of the negative comments with a grain of salt. Yes, it is an older resort, and yes, it probably does have a few rooms with "issues", but the management is always ready to rectify any problem you have. We have always found the food to be good, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the beach and snorkling fantastic. What more can you ask for?

Don’t believe the negative reviews!
Went to Sunscape Curacao in a group of eight women on Jan 10, 2025. We were looking for a fun beach vacation that wouldn’t break the bank. Many of the reviews we read were brutal, (broken air conditioning, bad food, dirty rooms) but the beach looked great so we were prepared to make some concessions. We booked Oceanside rooms through the Sunclub. (A small upgrade and it was definitely worth it!) My roomie and I were in building 3; most of our group was in building 8. I will ask for building 8 if I go again. In building 3, it was a bit noisy at night from the entertainment at the main pool. We were absolutely delighted with our room. It was clean, we had tons of towels, our fridge was full of water and beer and our patio slider opened right on to the beach. The food was comparable to other all-inclusive resorts we’ve been to at this price point. (Don’t expect Michelin stars!) Breakfast on the beach, and steaks at the Grill were great; there was TONS of choice at the buffet, even for the Vegan member of our group. I was not impressed with either of the Italian or Japanese options. We are not averse to tipping; we tip early and often, and the staff deserved it! Everyone we encountered was cheerful and happy to help. Especially the cute bartender who gave me his lighter for my scented candle. The beach here is one of the best I’ve ever visited. While the shore was a bit pebbly in spots, the water was crystal clear and there was great snorkeling just off the beach. If you’re a pool person, the Sunclub pool was lovely with great drinks and yummy snacks everyday. I highly recommend this resort and will likely go back with my husband in March or April.

A great time for a couple of scuba divers.
We stayed with Sunscape from January 10th to January 17th, 2025 and it was our first trip to Curacao. We stayed in building 2 (room 2118) which is a first-floor room facing the morning sun. Our first priority on vacation is scuba diving and we are always concerned when dealing with a new on-site scuba shop (Ocean Encounters). Upon arrival, the check-in process was really fast, she was nice and knew what she was doing. While we still had to fill out a form at the desk, by the time we were done, she was handing us our room cards. We didn’t need help finding our room as the layout the resort is simple, with every building being along the beach. The room itself was a standard room, but likely the biggest we’ve had at a resort. While very clean, it had the typical moldy/musty smell we’ve come to expect from most resort rooms on the ground floor. It was also clear that the AC would likely be an issue as it was quite warm. The AC is not a separate unit (in our building), but rather a thermostat (which likely doesn’t connect to anything) and a vent above it blowing slightly cool air. Once the sun went down, the room was fairly comfortable for sleeping. We found the food really good. The amount of selection wasn’t on par some higher end resorts found elsewhere in the Caribbean, but it was more than sufficient for our taste, and we never felt disappointed. The food was hearty and even more, the desserts were great. The locals also have a great affinity for their water and for good reason, it’s some of the best we’ve tasted and had a ton of it during meals. Also, unlike many Caribbean resorts, the water is safe right out of the tap, making illness much less likely. The staff was always attentive and polite, and most went above and beyond to make our stay just that much better. We didn’t really use much of the amenities that the resort offered, as our days we’re filled with diving, and we don’t drink alcohol. Early mornings and early nights didn’t leave much time to take in a show or lounge by the pool very much. For the time we did spend at the pool, there was a lot of activities and music going on. As for shows, we only really attended the ‘Fire Show’ on our last night (Thursday). It felt a little short, but entertaining. The scuba dive shop is right on the resort and has both boat dives and shore dives. We had a great time doing both. For the 5 days we dove, we did 10 boat and 8 shore dives (2 of which we did at night). The house reef is home to the famous ‘Car Pile’, which was quite interesting and had us diving to our recreational depth limit (130ft). The staff at Ocean Encounters bent over backwards to make everyone’s experience a good one. We compiled a video of our scuba experience, which can be found on our YouTube page under "ScubaMM" For our last day, we visited downtown Willemstad. We opted for the 2$ ‘bus’ (van) in front of the resort and spent a couple of hours wandering the beautiful, quiet city (no cruise ships in port at the time). We felt perfectly safe, and the city boasts some very nice sights. The only negative I would point out is that the main bar in front of the buffet could use a good cleaning. The strong sour smell of the many spilled/overflowed drinks they prepare has accumulated and is creating an unpleasant odor, even into the buffet. We opted to change tables at one point and stayed away from the corner because of it. We would (and will) stay at Sunscape again. We had a great time and would recommend it for other scuba diver couples, as a nice relaxing place to stay and dive.
