The Worst Hotel Experience I ever had...

My first day at the resort was a horrible experience. The hotel check in time was 3 PM however, my wife and I was provided with the wrong room (room #2202; room change #1). The VIP concierge individuals brought to me the correct key and said that there was a mix up with the room because our names were so close (Cooper was the name associated with the room; my name is Cook). My wife and I (celebrating our 19th Anniversary) was then sent to Plover room #3202 (room #2), which turned out to be an Oceanfront view with double beds (which I reserved the Oceanfront King Size). I went back to the VIP concierge to inform them and spoke with Edey who apologized for the inconvenience and informed me that I would have to stay in the double-bedded room for a night. I requested to speak with a manager on duty, for which I spoke with Timothy. Timothy apologized for the inconvenience and upgraded my room to a Junior Suite with an Oceanfront view. Room #2403 (room #3) was amazing, and the view was everything that I was initially expecting. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was not working properly in the room. The hotel provided an oscillating fan for additional cooling. My wife and I stayed in the room for the night. Tuesday was my actual Anniversary Day. was enjoying the hotel along with my wife and the poor air conditioning. Wednesday, we went for the presentation at Dreams Hotel, which was the expectation of Sunscape based on the pictures online. Scheduled a private dinner for my wife and I at Dreams for 8 PM. At around 6:15 PM, while getting ready for our private dinner, the power in our room of #2403 went completely out. My wife called the front desk approximately five times to speak with the front desk concerning the outage for which we were informed that the maintenance person had reported that they came to our room to fix the issue. Of course, it was hilarious to be informed by the front desk that maintenance had been to the room to fix the issue while we were still in the room in the dark. After going back and forth with the front desk, manager, and operator (7PM), we requested that housekeeping would come to the room to iron our clothes for the private dinner which was in an hour, and we had 30 minutes for transportation to take us to the Dreams Hotel. The front desk agreed. At 7:30 PM, my wife and I called the front desk to speak with the manager and inquired as to why the manager was not at our room for which we requested to speak with in person. Manager (Sumara) stated that she would come to the room. I informed her we are leaving to go to our private dinner, we will come to the front desk. At the front desk, Sumara apologized for the inconvenience for which I replied fix this issue when I get back from the private dinner. My wife and I went to the private dream and enjoyed the experience immensely. Dreams' hospitality and staff were in the upper echelon of professional compared to the doldrums of unprofessionalism at Sunscape Resort. Upon returning to Sunscape, we were informed that we would have to change rooms (room #4) from room #2403 to an upgraded room at Master Suite to room #2301. While inside of room #2301, the power went out and we called back the bell hop (Similien Frantz) to witness that the power was out. Mr. Frantz contacted the front desk to inform them of the status of the room. We were switched to room #3101 (room #5) by the VIP Concierge. The next morning (Thursday morning), we were informed that they had another room available in the same building on the second floor, for which I stated that we would leave in the morning. I informed them that there was no need to switch us again for the sixth time. My overall experience at this Hotel was nightmarish, incompetent, and unprofessional at best.

    Low budget option

This is a low budget type of resort. Rooms need to be updated immediately. People smoke everywhere on the beach and this the butts in the sand. Paid for Sun Club, but that was a complete waste. Never heard from anyone. No one is walking around asking if you want drinks or food. No premium liquor. This is easily a 2-3 star resort. The only positives were that the waitresses were amazing and the views were spectacular. Food was just ok. I would NOT return to this resort.

Outdoors areas great, staff great, rooms not so great.

I loved the beach, the Pools, the bars, the resort in general, the outdoor areas were clean and well looked after and the staff was great. As for the room it was clean which made my wife happy, but very noisy A/C units barely able to keep up with the heat TV that does work, front door difficult to close. Annoying problems that be easily corrected. You can see it's an older resort that needs some loving. The Staff was better than expected, they were great. I think management needs to ensure these basic items are fully functional /repaired to the same degree that their staff delivers the great service to their guests. Watchout for the Unlimited Vacation Club upsell, hard to see how that's going to work if you can't bring the rooms into the 21 century level.

    Amazing beach, overall good experience

Overall a positive experience, beach is just awesome at this resort. I missed more buffet options, mostly for lunch and dinner, I think breakfast was fine, pool bar maybe a bit too crowded all the time, bartenders are quick but they may need to consider add another bar poolside or extend it. Rooms at royal tower are a bit dated but not bad, air conditioning may not be cold enough for some at least on that building, beachfront units look newer.

We went for the diving and made the best of everyday.

When we booked this resort it was because of the beach area and location next to Ocean Encounters Dive. We had read the reviews so we set our expectations as needed and went. First thing I want to say is we had a great vacation! We rented a car for the week and parking at the resort is free and plentiful so easy to come and go as needed. About the resort.- It is an older resort that needs attention. I will say that we were impressed by how well they take care of the grounds at the resort. They do a great job and it is very nice to walk around. The rooms need attention and as others have stated the AC is POOR! YOU WILL SWEAT IN YOUR ROOM...lol. Now we found out September is one of the hottest months but we did ask for a fan in our room so we could tolerate being in it. Yes it helped a lot. It is an old building and there is just not much they can do anymore. Cold showers were really nice. We did talk to several people and they are actively updating the resort. I believe they just updated the World Cafe Buffet building. It is very nice inside but it is also open air and NO AC while you eat. Also no fans inside. Seems like poor planning. We did eat at the Italian restaurant. It did have AC. Now as far as food goes it was pretty bad. Hard to believe the breakfast buffet can mess up eggs but 2 times they had undercooked scrambled eggs. You can have an omelet made and it was good. Just poor selection and not very flavorful. I guess sweating while you eat at 8 a.m does not help. The drinks were not great, the local beer (Montana) which is all they serve tastes horrible but you may get lucky and find Polar it is better and apparently they only have 1 blender at the resort so it was pot luck if you walked up to a bar and could get a frozen drink. They may or may not have the magic blender that day. We stayed at the Sunclub and they have a bar at that pool for sunclub members. It is more like a cart they wheel out there with beer in an ice chest and liquor on shelves. Not great. The staff - This is the one area I give credit to this resort. They are all very friendly, helpful and will go out of the way to help you. A few people I would like to mention that helped make our stay much better. Giashline (Gesi) in the members club. She was fantastic from the start and was there for anything we needed. I feel as we made a great friend with her! Fabiodeangelo (THE MAN) He was everywhere with a smile, conversation and if you needed something THE MAN could get it! Just a great guy. Freddy in the VIP lounge was awesome. Went out of his way to get the all important fan to us. Sounds strange but it was more important than you think. Freddy helped us out several times as well. All the staff we interacted with was top notch. They really helped make the stay better. I would like to give a special mention to the SPA!! Me and my wife have had many massages but the one we had here may have been our favorite. Emeline and Rose are outstanding. No hydrotherapy or anything special in this spa just a really top notch masseuse. Most relaxed me and my wife have ever felt. Thank you both and to the whole team at the Spa that made it a great experience. We had a great vacation because we adjusted our expectations. We dove everyday with Ocean Encounters which is connected to the resort and we left the property to explore and eat off property. We made the best of it. If you want top notch everything do not go here. If you want a home base that has a great house reef and easy access to a great dive shop you can make it work. If they get the AC working in the rooms and pay a little more attention to the food it would change this place dramatically. They already have the staff to do the job.
