Breathtaking views of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head, overcrowded (as all of Waikiki is) and brilliant exec lounge!

We stayed for two days here after a week on the big island. Waikiki isn't my "dream location" and some of that is found in this review... Waikiki is seriously overcrowded, and the Sheraton is victim to that as well. The pools are so terribly overcrowded that if you don't grab a chair before 9, you wont find a chair, many of the chairs at the hotel cost additional $$ - this is super irritating, given the high resort fee ($42). The beach access is nice, but again terribly overcrowded. Our room was recently remodeled, and was very pretty, albeit quite small. It would be a very small room/lanai for a full week stay. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Platinum Marriott status came with access to the executive lounge. This was indisputably the NICEST Marriott lounge i have seen, the food (breakfast and happy hour) was fantastic, the spread was huge (HH could have easily been dinner) and the beer/wine being included was a nice touch. The views from the lounge are likely the nicest on Waikiki. We were promised a late check out which wasn't honored due to a sell out the next day, while this was disappointing, i do understand the needs of next guests. Finally, the Platinum "welcome gift" was delightful, including a box of Hawaiian chocolates and a goody bag filled with items of your choice, including wine/beer. This location would be terrible for a family, IMO, the overcrowding would be difficult to manage. Aloha!

    Location

The location for the hotel is perfect since it is right on the beach and I loved the Infiniti pool in the hotel . Other than that the rooms are average . It certainly is not value for money . Breakfast should be included daily price but it isn’t . I found the hotel a bit on the expensive side

    Better than ever

This was my second stay at the Sheraton Waikiki this year, and my 5th or 6th over the years. The renovations they are making are amazing. Also, the service is better than ever. It all started with an outstanding check-in experience. Wish I could remember her name.. the front desk agent was so welcoming and professional. The room was beautiful up on the 30th floor with views of both the ocean and buildings/mountains. Room was immaculately clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. I’m excited the Sheraton is now modern. The other great parts of my stay were the friendly housekeepers who always gave a nice Aloha greeting in the hallway and asked if I needed anything. The new lounge is beautiful. Amazing food and views. Finally, I was so impressed with Sarah at the pool. Her service was amazing. I am being nit-picky but I hope the pool loungers are replaced with nicer ones soon and the floating bean bags in the pool seem like they need replacement soon too. I can’t wait to go back to the Sheraton again hopefully next year!

    Sad experience

I and my husband decided to spend a week or so in warm Hawaii. I used to stay in Sheraton hotel in different countries in the past for mostly on business purpose and always quite satisfied with the hotel and thus chose the hotel. The view from the hotel room was breathtaking and the location is excellent both to enjoy the beach and shopping. The first problem we had however was with the shower in the bathtub. As soon as you switch the water to the shower mode, the amount of the water is reduced dramatically and was almost impossible to take shower. I called the guest service and was told plumber will be sent up immediately but nothing happened even next day and I told the guest service desk. To make story short it took three days for them to send plumber although it was still not functioning well. Two days before our departure we were picked up by the tourist company before 7 AM from the hotel to play golf which we requested for. I was so much in a hurry in the morning that I forgot to wear my diamond necklace and left it on the shelf in the room. I didn’t even notice it until we came back to the room in the evening. It was not in the room. I am fully aware of the fact that it was my mistake not putting it in the safety box two carats and a half single diamond necklace. It was a necklace my mother gave to me before she passed away a few years ago and I always wore it when I was on a trip. Although I do not expect to get it back I have reported to the hotel and asked them to provide me with the written statement for us to use it to report to the police. But although I told them I will be leaving next day they did not provide us anything. Instead I had to explain the same story to the different managers again and again. I was not asking for any compensation but I’m asking if it’s too much to expect to get the report from the hotel. Although it’s my fault not putting it in the safety box but is it 100% the case you lose something very valuable in the first class hotel when you leave it in the room?

Large, full service Sheraton on Waikiki Beach

Strengths: Large, full-service Sheraton with great conference facilities, fantastic lounge, prime location on Waikiki Beach. Weaknesses: Some elevators were not running, lack of HVAC in some corridors including some interior hallways, mediocre catering for conferences. I spent a couple of days at the Sheraton Waikiki for a business conference recently. Overall, this is a great hotel for a conference. The conference facilities were excellent (great space, good a/v, good HVAC in the conference rooms, decent staff). Catering for conference lunches was mediocre- fish one day was served cool. Chicken was generic but edible. Coconut ice cream had a beautiful presentation but not very good flavor. Overall cleanliness: above average Bathroom cleanliness: common area bathroom cleanliness was average. Lounge for guests with Marriott/Sheraton status: The Lounge on the top floor is fantastic. Excellent staff, good food and drinks, incredible view of Waikiki Beach. Had a business meeting in the lounge, and it was a nice setting. Staff: All staff that I encountered interacted professionally. Lobby: Nice lobby, and the koi pond is beautiful
