Discover Poipu Beach's newest playground at the 391-room Sheraton Kauai Resort. A $16 million revitalization has brought new energy to the guest experience at this 20-acre retreat. A modern, refurbished entry leads to the beautifully landscaped open-air Ocean Courtyard lounge. Adorned with tiki torches and six conversation areas - three with fire pits - it's the perfect spot for cocktails under the stars.
Sheraton Kauai Resort's 391 rooms, including its 11 suites, are housed in eight buildings no higher than a mature coconut tree. Grouped together in three different locations, the room categories are identified according to their primary view: Garden Wing, Ocean Wing, and Beach Wing.
The expanded, multi-level pool sits just above the beach and is lined with eight private cabanas equipped with chaise lounges, a flat-screen TV, and ceiling fan. Lava's on Poipu Beach, the resort's new open-air restaurant and beach bar, is just steps away from the pool and ocean. Rum Fire is the island's newest hot spot, serving up nearly 180-degree ocean views from all 240 seats. The innovative Rum Fire menu features Hawaiian cuisine with global influences.

Customer Ratings & Reviews

Room was nice and clean. The view was awesome. I had to load my own luggage after walking half a block since valet for our side of resort (ocean side) was across street. I didn't expect that at all for a resort like this, and yes I tipped valet every time I picked up car. Also was NEVER notified of any entertainment but came in 1 evening to find a Luau going on so we missed it entirely as we spent day at beach away from resort. Would have been nice to know. No entertainment during our entire stay.
Pool was rather small, wifi was weak and front desk staff was rather cold and not too friendly. Room was great and clean. We were upgraded by Marriott corporate on my reservation page, but hotel staff states that the my booking section on the Marriott website or app is not accurate or cant be relied upon, odd. Fitness center was rather small too. Lots of loungers by pool, butmore trees or shades would be nice. Great location. Comfortable robes, slippers would be nice. Overall great beach resort. Love the rocking chairs. Great healthy breakfast selections.
Nice Hotel. Great Location!
Just spent five days at an oceanfront room which I would highly recommend for future guests. Breathtaking balcony views of the Pacific and the waves crashing at night were a big plus! The resort is very nice and the staff was very friendly and professional. We really enjoyed the Luau there and the restaurants were nice but expensive. The pool and beach weren't big, but we never felt crowded. The resort is very close to good snorkeling, several shopping outlets, and a lot of high and low end restaurants. I enjoyed my hike on the Mahaulepu Trail which was a ten minute drive away. Parking was really screwed up due to the construction and ONLY 23 guest parking spaces for the ocean side forced people to valet and those guys wanted tipped every time they touched your car. All in all a great stay in Poipu.
Enjoyed our stay
Our last resort on our 3 island holiday, stayed for 5 nights. The resort is on both sides of the road so we had to check in at reception then walk over the road to our room. We stayed in a ground floor Ocean Front room which was very nice, good size, clean, sofa and large bathroom area. Resort gardens were lovely, quite a small pool but on the beach front. The only thing that bothered us was the ‘Timeshare’ pitch really not interested.
We loved it!
We received a promotional rate for five nights here, but had to attend a vacation club sales meeting. I was sooo worried about this hotel based on other Trip Advisors reviews. My expectations were so low based on what I have read. Well, in contrast, this place is remarkable! Yes, there is construction, but it is on far side of the hotel. Our balcony backed to the construction, I barely heard a peep from the work. Wasn’t an issue at all. Yes, if you are in the ‘garden’ wing, you have to walk to the beach. Not a big deal AT ALL. Maybe, maybe a five minute walk WITH two small children! The location of the hotel is great. A 5-10 minute drive to so many great restaurants in the area. The beach is right beyond the big pool (there is also a much quieter pool by the garden units). The big pool is large and perfect as it is divided. There is a great area for young kids and lower parts for other families or individuals. There is an attentive wait staff for drinks and meals at the pool. There is a beach activity desk for towels or to rent gear for the beach. The pool was never too crowded, and often times my daughter had the little pool to herself. Our room (a two bedroom villa) was beautiful. Newly renovated and spacious with great daily housekeeping visits. We initially checked into a studio, but upgraded to a 2 bedroom. The studio would have been tight with the four of us, but if we were traveling as a couple, it would have been just fine. Both the studio and 2 bedroom were newly renovated and had a kitchenette with washer and dryer. The service was excellent. The guys at the valet were gracious and warm (Frank was great!). The front desk staff was kind and welcoming (Betty was AMAZING!). The wait staff at the pool was attentive and present. The bartender at Lava was engaging and great. At 2 am, our son came down with a fever and complained of bad ear pain (later diagnosed as ear infection). I forgot to pack children’s Advil, and my husband had to go get it from a convenience store, but on his way, the Sheraton security guard helped him by offering to open up the little LINK shop on property to check to see if they had it in stock there (they didn’t, but so kind of him to offer and check). I never write reviews, but I read a lot of them, and I really felt this place reads horrible on trip advisor, when in reality, it is a lovely property with more and more improvements coming up and with a hardworking and kind staff. I would come back in a minute. Thank you, Sheraton!
