Discover Poipu Beach's newest playground at the 391-room Sheraton Kauai Resort. A $16 million revitalization has brought new energy to the guest experience at this 20-acre retreat. A modern, refurbished entry leads to the beautifully landscaped open-air Ocean Courtyard lounge. Adorned with tiki torches and six conversation areas - three with fire pits - it's the perfect spot for cocktails under the stars.
Sheraton Kauai Resort's 391 rooms, including its 11 suites, are housed in eight buildings no higher than a mature coconut tree. Grouped together in three different locations, the room categories are identified according to their primary view: Garden Wing, Ocean Wing, and Beach Wing.
The expanded, multi-level pool sits just above the beach and is lined with eight private cabanas equipped with chaise lounges, a flat-screen TV, and ceiling fan. Lava's on Poipu Beach, the resort's new open-air restaurant and beach bar, is just steps away from the pool and ocean. Rum Fire is the island's newest hot spot, serving up nearly 180-degree ocean views from all 240 seats. The innovative Rum Fire menu features Hawaiian cuisine with global influences.
Kauai is a wonderland of outdoor activity and adventure, and Sheraton Kauai Resort serves as your base camp. Naturally, given the perfect oceanfront location, you will find unlimited beach activities right outside your door. Scuba and snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and beach cabanas are available at the Activity Center adjacent to the Ocean Pool. The resort offers two swimming pools: a brand new oceanfront pool and a tranquil garden pool. You also have access to a fitness center and a news/internet library. Excellent shopping and numerous local attractions are within walking distance.

5 Star Beach, 3 Star Hotel
We chose the Sheraton solely because of the beach. We knew the hotel itself was rather average and older. Our ocean front room was ok - it had received a makeover albeit minimal to look more updated (not from the 80's). The view was of the ocean and pool area which was nice. Tiny ants joined us on a daily basis in the bathroom and area around the coffee machine. We notified the front desk and they sprayed which left the scent of bug spray but did not deter the ants. It's Kauai, it's tropical, there are critters...I get it. Room was surprisingly quiet at night which I appreciated. All of the hotel mediocrity was offset by the amazing beach just steps away from our room! We came to relax on the beach and play in the waves and that's exactly what the Sheraton delivered.
Beautiful spot on Kauai
The resort is very large and very impersonal, and it is spread out. If you can, go for a beachfront room as they are located on the beachside of the resort. We stayed in one of the beachfront rooms which had a beautiful view of the sunset. The beach is beautiful and very clean. We ate at Rumfire 2 nights and really enjoyed the meal, it is more on the expensive side but worth it. We also ate at the café beside the pool - it was ok, however the service was really slow. Its is a great location and close to a couple of shopping centres, you have a choice of restaurants and cafes. The rooms were large, the bed was really comfortable to sleep in. If I was to go back, I would enquire about the other resort that it shares a beach with. We enjoyed our stay there, but it seemed to be lacking something...
We arrived around 2 in the afternoon and really just wanted to check in and relax but our room was not ready. So after waiting for over a hour we went to check and see if it was ready... They had forgot to call and tell us it had been ready for a long time..... Headed to the room and my husband and I wanted to cry... Over the restaurant and next to the pool the noise and smell was awful.. So I went to change rooms not a easy feet but we were given a room on the second floor on the lawn.. AMAZING! The food was good but the service was in need of improvement. Great location . We will stay again.
5 night stay
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in a garden view king room after spending 5 nights at the other Sheraton. There were pros and cons to each and this was definitely the higher end of the two. The bed was very comfortable. The balcony, room, and bathroom were all very spacious. The beach was great although it would have been nice to have beach chairs on the actual beach and not just up in the grassy area. Food and drinks were very expensive so we never ate or drank there except for once during the happy hour. There is a small mini fridge, tv, and coffee pot that uses the Starbucks coffee pods provided. The one thing we could not stand was the air conditioner, it was SOOOOO LOUD! So loud, that it would wake us up at night. The hall ways and neighboring rooms were pretty loud as well. We enjoyed the fire pits and rocking chairs that they have around the property and they have a very nice pool and hot tub as well. We were able to walk to Poipu beach, a short 5-10 minute walk on the beach/neighboring hotel sidewalks.
Amazing Resort on Kaua'i
I only stayed one night but it was amazing. A lovely lady at the front desk upgraded me to a suite and it was unbelievable. I had a corner suite on the 3rd floor with THREE lanai's. THREE!! The suite was 5 star. I really wanted to see Monk Seals and I was blessed when a mom and baby hauled out on the beach right in front of my suite. I watched them from the lanai for hours. The staff was incredible. The grounds were impecible and so beautiful. We dined at Rum Fire and the food was delicious. We rented a beach cabana and spent hours on the sand enjoying the fantastic service and views. Its a great place for families.
