Secrets as a wedding benue,
We had an absolutely wonderful time! Our daughter was married there on site and it couldn’t have been better! The staff was so friendly and professional. Jose Becerra was our personal host and he anticipated our every need. He did a fantastic job. We will definitely be recommending Secrets to all of our family and friends in the future.

Couples Retreat
Food and service was fantastic. Ask or look for Adrian he was awesome. Vendors at the beach can be frustrating but they were polite. Took a trip into town and ate at the Happy Lobster. Highly recommend.

A beautiful resort which is representative of the Hyatt brand but it is not perfect.
I was a guest of the resort because of a wedding. The resort is beautifully designed and appointed. The level of elegance was consistent with my expectation of a Hyatt property. My room in the “preferred” section was large and extremely comfortable. The housekeeping service was exceptional. The little rugs placed at the side of the bed for cleaning feet before getting into bed was a nice, extra touch. The bed was the most comfortable I can remember sleeping in at a hotel. This was the first time I thought a hotel bed was more comfortable than my own bed. The entire resort was extraordinarily clean. Most of the staff were warm, personable, very helpful and went out of their way to be accommodating. The pool areas were kept clean. The waiters around the beach and pools had great personalities and were very accommodating. I liked that they would accept an insulated cup and have the bar tender make the drink in my cup. Here is a tip, if you want a lounge chair in a particular place on the pool deck or on the beach, you will need to reserve it early in the morning by placing towels on it. People were reserving pool chairs as early as 7:00 am. Their pricing for guest passes was very frustrating and felt like a money grab. I was there for a wedding. My daughter and her fiancé couldn’t get a room in the resort so they booked an Air BnB. The price for them to attend the wedding was $175.00 per person and they could only be on the property from one hour before the wedding to an hour after the wedding. However a normal guest pass for the period of 5:00pm - 1:30am was $115.00 per person. They wouldn’t permit me to buy the lower cost pass if someone was attending a wedding. It made no sense. In addition having them attend the wedding, I wanted them to join us the day after the wedding so I also needed day passes. I was quoted 3 different prices for day passes before finally getting the lower price of $115.00 per person. The entire process of getting the passes was VERY Unpleasant. Beware - VIP passes and Discount coupons are, in my view, nearly worthless. I was given a book of ten, $10 discount coupons. I expected I could enjoy $100 worth of services but that is NOT how it works. If I wanted a bottle of wine, the cost is $40.00, but a guest can only use one $10 coupon. Therefore a bottle of wine still cost $30.00. Spa prices are available on menu. However when I tried to use my VIP discount pass at the spa the price was going to be higher than the published price on the menu. It doesn’t make sense. To summarize, in my experience, the VIP discount card and the coupons that they so heavily promote are worthless. Hyatt is also being VERY pushy and persistent in trying to get people to listen to the sales pitch for the Hyatt Vacation package. They will offer passes or services if you listen to their 90 minute sales presentation. They are so persistent that they will continue to pursue guests throughout their entire visit. Medical Services - I had the misfortunate of having to use the medical services around mid-night my last night on the property. Don’t assume that because there is a physician on the property that the service is free. The cost to see the doctor was $215.00. The care I received was excellent. He came to my room to see me. He was warm, funny, seems very well educated and provided the exact care I needed. He even came to my room the next morning to follow-up on my care. The down side is that I needed prescriptions immediately. I went to the front desk, again this was around mid-night, asking if someone would go get my prescriptions. They said I could walk to a nearby pharmacy. I was hesitant because it was mid-night but I was assured I would be safe. I went to the pharmacy and was only able to get one of the two medications I needed. When I returned to the resort, I asked if they would sent someone to get the other prescription, from a pharmacy that was too far to walk. They wouldn’t do it, they said they didn’t have enough staff. I had to do without the drug that I really needed to get through the night. I was VERY distressed. Food - In my opinion, the food was just so-so. Even food quality of the top end restaurants seemed lacking. The warming dishes in the Preferred area of the resort did not keep the food very warm. This concerned me when they used these warming dishes for eggs and meats. I enjoy the beach but I don’t live for going to the beach. In general, the week I spent at the resort wasn’t great due to some of the issues noted above but also due to the unusually high humidity. Just sitting on my balcony early in the morning was quickly unpleasant due to the heat and humidity. If you are not a fan of uncomfortable heat and humidity, I suggest visiting the resort in the winter.

Total Relaxation
Service was exceptional! Each day we requested Adrian as our server. He remembered our favorite drinks and had them ready for us! The views are lovely and the sunsets breathtaking!

Meh…
This is the first time I’ve showed up to a Hyatt and been really disappointed. Several things were broken or dirty in our room. The counters were sticky, no USB ports in the room, room was barely cleaned (shelf broken, mini bar wasn’t restocked before arrival) and there was still a 1990s phone and stained jacuzzi in the bathroom. It desperately needs an update.
