This was our fourth resort on our trip and the one we paid the most for so I was expecting more. I thought the service everywhere was great and staff very friendly- the best of the 4 resorts! I liked the pools but missed having a swim up bar. Sometimes the pools were warm which was fantastic and other days too cold to go in- I don't know why they didn't keep them warm all the time. The main thing that was subpar to everywhere else we stayed was the food and drink quality. They had no fresh fruits at any bar for the drinks-which is what I prefer especially in Mexico. The "top-shelf bar" was tiny and the bartenders there really didn't know how to make drinks and again no fresh fruits/homemade syrups to make a good drink. Not even the Italian restaurants had real fresh bread served. The only restaurants I would eat at would be the Italian and the Steakhouse- the rest were not good and the service at the Asian restaurant we got was really bad. The entertainment staff was great but my favorite activity is pool volleyball which was on the schedule daily but never set up. Overall, I just don't think their prices are matching the quality of food and drinks you get at other results for similar or less costs but we had a nice time due to exceptional staff and atmosphere.
I wanted to try this hotel for a long time so I decided to celebrate my birthday here!! This is not your typical resort is more like a high-end high rise hotel, once you walk in you take the stairs which always had beautiful flower, on top of the stairs the greet you with fresh towels and a glass of bubbly. We were introduced to Jennifer who together with Diego were our personal concierges. Diego is an amazing and true gentleman who really cares and enjoys his work. We stayed on the 27th floor in a Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View, which was very accommodating, with a nice big balcony that oversees the Lagoon and the Ocean, the bathroom was big with 2 shower heads, just wished there were more places to hang wet towels. The Bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on. I especially like the sofa in front of the bed and the lounge chair next to it. We never had a problem with the AC if anything at times felt very cold and believe me I like cold. The Beach is beautiful but very narrow, nevertheless we enjoy splashing around in the water, although it was not as calm as I would’ve like. The Pools – One of the reasons why I picked this Hotel was because it advertises heated pools, however I didn’t think they were heated, or perhaps was the high winds that made it feel uncomfortable an a bid chilled. The 12th Floor Pool has a beautiful view but is just too quiet for our taste, we went there early mornings and will leave by mid day. Food was good especially at Dragon and Sea Salt Grill. We tried Neibolo as well and the food was OK this restaurant was a bid dark and I guess we felt uncomfortable as we were sitting next to a very loud individuals (too bad not everyone knows how to use their inside voices). We had breakfast both at the Market Café and Dragon’s they were both good with a lot of food variety. Overall since we were there just to relax, we didn’t had any schedule or things to do, however the first two day were kind of boring but then a huge group from the Indiana Colts were there which made more lively entertainment as they participated more in the daily event. That goes to show that depending in which crowd you get it could make your impression of the hotel change, personally my husband love playing volleyball all the time so it change his impression a lot. The STAFF is the best; they are very friendly, special mention to the following individuals: Arturo - Dragons Ulises – Market Café Carlos – Sea Grill Erick – Neibolo Itzel – Coffe Bar Norberto – Beach Server Roberto – pool Server Daliha – Entertainment team Jennifer – Concierge (thank you for my birthday cake and balloons in our room) Maximiliano – Beach (not a lot of people pay attention to who sets and cleans your beach lounge area; this young men was hard at work every day kudos to you) The following people also provided excellent service and made our stay more memorable: Chef Isido – Dragons (I can’t thank you enough for the awesome tuna tartar, it was so good that we had to come back for seconds) Diego – concierge you were so attentive, helpful and patient. Jorge – Preferred lounge bartender Alberto and Alejandro – Preferred Pool Luis – Sommelier (you can really tell he loves what he does) All in all we had a good time everyone was so attentive and the hotel is gorgeous; don’t know if we’ll come back not because we didn’t had a good time or bad service; we just like a more resort type kind of stay.
We arrived at the hotel for the last days of our honeymoon after 17 wonderful days in mexico When we arrived we found out that the room we booked was not the room we saw in the pictures on the website The ocean view that was promised to us was replaced with the view that you can see in the picture added. Average at Best
We chose to stay at Secrets to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary with 8 of our good friends, this was our experience: Customer service - The service provided by all the staff, bartenders, housekeepers, entertainment crew was excellent. Everyone we encountered was polite, helpful and did their best to meet our needs. I will note that I was surprised at the shark-like tactics. I understand that this is their job, but when you cant walk across the lobby without getting approached several times it cheapened the hotel experience. The Rooms - we booked a king ocean view which was wonderful. The rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully designed. The patio was perfect for sunrise and sunset views. A note on the showers: the water comes in melt your face off hot or frozen artic. The bed, however, was flawless the perfect mixture of comfort and support, and I slept like an angel. Food - As Forest Gump so sagely stated, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get." This too apparently applies to the dinning at Secrets. We dined regularly for lunch and breakfast at the Market Cafe and many of the dishes were delicious and left us coming back for seconds. Then there was restaurants like Dragons and Sea Salt, which left a lot to be desired in terms of food quality and taste - our entire group of 8 was let down by the restaurants. However, If anyone in management at Secrets is reading this, please give your pastry/dessert chef a raise. He/she CONSISTENTLY made some of the most beautiful, diverse and delicious desserts to ever grace my tastebuds. As a self-identified non-dessert lover, even I gained a sweet tooth during our stay. Drinks - The drinks at Secrets also lacked consistency and the quality varied wildly based on 1. what bar you went to 2. if you asked a server to get you the drink/ if you asked the bartender in person. The best drinks were at the main lobby as they were the only bar that offered the kind of craft cocktails with homemade bitters and syrups I like. The pool areas were home to a host of sugary, watered-down drinks that you will drink 13 of and never once feel the slightest hint of buzz. Drinks were only made well when you physically went to the bar to ask the bartender, otherwise, they appear slopped together and tasted as bad as they looked. The bad: As a gift, the resort offered a "complimentary romantic breakfast" on our patio for my birthday. Ironically, we had ordered regular room service breakfast the day before that was way better than the plate of the saddest looking eggs and minimal selections they threw at us that morning. Overall, anything they marketed as special, romantic, etc at the hotel was decidedly unspecial and unromantic. The ugly: If you are like me, you see air conditioning as a necessity, not a privilege. Unfortunately, Secrets has their rooms configured so that A/C is only turned when motion detectors are activated. It was so bad we had to call concierge to ask if the A/C was broken. As a result, our rooms were incredibly uncomfortable and there was nothing the staff could do to keep us from sweaty nights. Overall: While the hotel grounds, rooms, pools, and views of Secrets scream luxury and the service of its employees as a whole lives up to the 4-star rating the quality of the food, drink, activities were simply not up to par. It was a disappointing stay and did not live up to our expectations and we certainly didn't feel that it was worth what we paid for our 4-night stay. If you are OK with mediocrity this hotel will do. If you value a hotel which pays attention to the details and doesn't cut corners on quality, seek other accommodations.
Beautiful, beachy & oh so kind
The rooms are beautiful & the views are spectacular, but the best thing about this resort is the staff. They smile from the heart & authentically want to help guests have a great time. Last night we ate at Nebbiolo for an Italian dinner. It was the best food we’ve had yet, and our waiter Javier couldn’t have been more top notch. We’re loving our stay & definitely recommend!
