Shaggy and Delia's 11th Visit to our SPLC Familia
This was Shaggy and Delia’s 11th visit to SPLC. We had a fantastic time as usual, and hope to be back, if the price tag is right. Absolutely Memorable: Our SPLC familia. The Preferred Lounge welcomed us back home like we never left. Johel, you always set us up perfectly and take care of us. Sandra, mi hija. I will miss you, girl. You were there everyday, ready to pamper us. Francisco, our baby brother, you always shine at the bar. Ada runs a great team at the Preferred Lounge. We love them all. Ceasar at the Preferred pool – You make everyone feel like they are a VIP. Thank you for all that you do. Martin at Portofino: You work insanely hard, day and night. Always with a smile. Another hijo. David at Oceana: Wow. You brought us the best filet and lobster tails ever! The chef is amazing, and you spoiled us! Brenda at Seaside Grill: Mi hija. Every day, catering to our sashimi and champagne requests. Beautiful outdoor dinner at night. You are truly a gem. I’m amazed at your energy; you work so hard I get dizzy (ok, that isn’t from the bubbly). Even at 90 degrees and 76% humidity, you always had a smile on your face. Himitsu – Delicious sashimi. As usual, we sat at the bar. There’s where you get the best rolls! El Patio – Okay, we had the very best ever margaritas at the El Patio bar on our last night. El Pastor margaritas, with muddled grilled pineapple, fresh cilantro, and a red paste. These are dangerously delicious. Saul – thank you for taking care of us at breakfast, and at Seaside Grill. You were always there, looking after us. Salvatore, Antonio, Audel, Manuel. Poolside drink servers. I always come back home, so mad at myself that I forget names. But never the faces. You are all wonderful. You all work with a smile and a sense of fun, ready to pamper the guest. Such a very large food and beverage team, they’re a wonderful reflection of the management from Alejandro. Alejandro directs his team thoughtfully, always helping them to improve. Thanks, our friend, for making our visit wonderful. Lionel, Resident Manager. You are so personable. You are the overall reason that everything works so smoothly. You always treat us like family. Entertainment: Cantante Karla Kassaneth – Still here, I’m so very glad! Extremely talented singer, and so is her musical partner (who’s guitar work is out of this world). I’ve got 2 wonderful videos, and will send them to you! Loved you guys again! Kurt Arredondo, Musican Guitarist, singer: Great to see you again. Love the extra guitarist, he adds a great lead guitar that completes your sound. Raul Y Roger, Sax and Piano: I think Raul Y Roger have been here from the beginning. They are the perfect classy sound to a relaxing lounge atmosphere. The Three Tenors: Awesome. Don’t miss them. Very unique and a special must-see. Los Leones: We missed them this visit, due to scheduling. but they are incredible! Okay, I’m still going to say it – I very much miss Mala Rumba at the resort, and wish you could bring them back, even for just one night a week. Bar Service and Drinks: Great value, great service. Expresso Martinis, El Pastor Margaritas, yum! Blended mojitos. Good brands. Food average: 4 out of 5 stars. Honestly, we had more 5-star meals than 4-star. Spa: 5-star all the way. Yes, a but pricey. But it’s a resort; you know it will be. Book your massage on a day where they offer a discount. But enjoy, it’s worth the ambiance and relaxation. Entertainment team: Always getting something going. Love you guys. Was there ever a glitch, something didn’t go perfectly? Maybe food or drinks taking a bit too long? Sure. But you’re on vacation. A little extra patience. I mean, really, where else do you have to be in such a hurry? SPLC has the best group of people. Treat them with respect, and remember to tip. I did note – on a couple of occasions – a guest was verbally disrespectful to two team members. That’s a huge shame. You can’t beat building 8, with the crashing waves. This is a sprawling resort, challenging for those with mobility issues. There’s always a couple of different options for evening entertainment. We hope to return in the Spring. If not, we’ll always love our SPLC familia.
Perfect Girls Getaway!
This gem of an all-inclusive resort did not disappoint! Staff, atmosphere, accommodations were all top-notch and amenities were beyond amazing. One waiter who stood out the most was Abraham at the Oceano restaurant-he was extremely attentive and the service he provided was one of the best I have ever experienced in my travels. Kudos to you all at the Puerto Los Cabos location for going above and beyond! I will be back.
Another wonderful Secrets resort
My husband and I are fans of Secrets resorts, and the one at Los Cabos Mexico didn't disappoint! We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary so treated ourselves to an ocean front, preferred corner room that faced the ocean on one side and the Preferred Club infinity pool on the other. Everything is immaculate at this resort (inside and out), and the staff are very polite and accommodating. Our favorite restaurant was Portifino, where we dined 3 of our 6 nights. Chef Daniel and server Gastor made our meals very special. My husband said they served the best lasagna he has ever had, and the spaghetti carbonara was fabulous! Chef Daniel prepared the carbonara at the table, so everything was hot and delicious. Booking preferred gave us access to Oceana for ala carte breakfast, which was a nice alternative to the buffet (which is good), especially because it was so close to Bldg 8. Entertainment at this resort was so-so, and shopping not impressive with limited shops. I had forgotten my mascara and there was no where at the resort to purchase any cosmetics. Perhaps something the resort or spa should consider? All in all, this was a wonderful trip. It was our first trip to the Pacific side of Mexico, which was more desert and mountainous than Cancun or Riveria Maya. We will probably return to the gulf side for the beach and water, as Secrets Cabo water wasn't swimmable. However, listening to the crashing waves all day and all night was a definite bonus if you're not a water person.
This place was incredible, they made us feel welcome and important the whole stay and nothing felt like too much to ask. Food was a bit basic but for an all inclusive and first stop on our honeymoon was perfect.
Very relaxing and accommodating. My girlfriends and I got rooms with swim out and literally didn’t even bother much with the main pool. Downside was that room service didn’t offer cocktails (only wine and champagne; beer was already in mini fridge), so we just took the tray in our rooms to go get a bunch of cocktails. Rooms were impeccably clean, and we loved how often staff cleaned our rooms since the floors always got wet from us frolicking around after using swim out. Highly recommend mezcal from El Patio restaurant (ask for Christián; he was very attentive and gave us tip on how to drink mezcal the right way). Always get tacos. Ask for taco bar night and eat your fill of lengua and al pastor. Himitsu was beautiful with nice vibe but food was a huge no no (was it Japanese? Was it Thai? It wasn’t Asian fusion; sake was weak, and sashimi was stale and bland). Oceano’s food was also so-so, but the beautiful view and good service (shout out to Manuel) made up for lack of flavor. Order the lamb at Portofino and you won’t regret it. And I don’t know why, but the chocolate chips cookies at Coco Cafe were so addicting. Last but not least, beware of mosquitoes and bring antihistamine cream (Make sure that your room’s sliding door closes all the way bc ours weren’t).
