Great resort, unhappy with parent company
Pros: Overall great staff, mostly good food, great alcohol choices, awesome facilities Cons: Not sure if I can trust corporate offices anymore, certain areas of the resort can be pushy (VIP Services). So to briefly go over my biggest complaint I need to specify that it has nothing to do at all with the resort itself but the parent company. I booked my stay back in October for Silversands and was told about 2-3 weeks prior to our arrival that we needed to be relocated to a different resort. Now, this isn't THAT big of a deal but there were certain specific qualities in my room at silversands that I had specifically picked out which is why we picked that resort to travel to. After speaking to someone on the phone for about 2.5 hours that day I was PROMISED (and by that I specifically mean the words "I promise" and "I assure you" were used) that I would have a certain type of room at Secrets Maroma so we agreed to keep our reservation and move to Maroma. I feel it is also important to note that I was never given any of this in writing after specifically asking for it. 3 separate people with Secrets Corporate office all cited that this was going to be "handled on the back end" and the confirmation email wouldn't reflect the changes. I had a sinking feeling so I called the resort itself 2 days prior to my arrival and they had no record of me going to the resort. One day later they had my information but they didn't have the room I was promised. The only explanation I was given was that there was no availability and the resort was booked to capacity. At that point I just surrendered because they had my money and my flight couldn't be canceled. However, the obvious issue here is that AM Resorts doesn't actually do what they tell you they're doing in terms of securing rooms. Again, I don't blame Maroma for this at all and that's why I didn't say anything when I was there. They even offered to move us to that specific style of room for our final day of the trip but it wasn't worth it at that point. They did give us a nice room but again, specifically promising me something and not delivering is a very, very bad practice. I can't stress enough how much of a bad taste I have over the entire chain simply because I was lied to for weeks straight. Ok, so back to the resort proper. The facilities are amazing, 95% of all people we met were great. The whole VIP schtick got tiring after the 3rd person tried to get me to attend a meeting but they're just doing their jobs. These people specifically made our trip great: Roberto (concierge), Jorge, Charlie, Fernanda,Israel (entertainment) and the shorter guy in the preferred club lounge (sorry can't remember your name), Pedro aka Coco (poolside staff) . The beach was amazing short of the seaweed but if you do 3 minutes of research you'll know about the seaweed before you get there and it isn't even that bad. The pool was pretty good and the service poolside was great. Pool needs some slight repair but seriously not that big of a deal. The music was very bleh at times but I get that they need to appeal to a larger audience than just my wife and I so again, not a big deal. This is the 3rd Secrets we've been to and this is the best one by far. I'm not sure if I'll travel to a AM Resorts location again because of my interactions with their corporate office but if I were to I would for sure go back here. Final tip: Don't forget anything at home or be tempted to buy anything on the resort. Everything is marked up at least 100% from what I saw (sunscreen was $40, a bottle of tequila that MSRP for $31 was selling for close to $100). This is common practice at all resorts I've been to so I don't knock them for it but be careful.
Awesome Anniversary stay
Just got back from a 5 day stay at this resort and in all honesty it was way too short!!! My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and we were treated like royalty. We had a fantastic swim out room that was impeccable. The food and drinks were fantastic and the staff of the hotel are experts in the hospitality business. We were made to feel like royalty. The spa service is fantastic if you can fit it into your schedule and the beach front romantic dinner for 2 will forever be etched into our memory and will be a topic of discussion for years to come. We will definitely be returning!!!
Would definitely go back!
My boyfriend and I traveled to Secrets Maroma Beach with another couple to celebrate his birthday. We booked our trip through CheapCarribean.com through their Deal of Fortune promotion. I am thrilled that we were placed at Secrets Maroma Beach and we had a great time! The service was outstanding, the amenities were awesome, and the food was great. There are lots of activities throughout the day if you choose to partake. Our favorite restaurant was El Patio (the Mexican restaurant) and the breakfast buffet at World Cafe. The beach does have a lot of seaweed but it was pleasant to sit by the beach and then cool off in the pool.
Me and my husband had the most wonderful stay in Secrets Aroma Beach last week. We were there with the company I work for and everything was so perfectly arranged for us. Most of all we appreciated the friendly staff there. We would like to give a shout-out to Adrian at the reception desk. He had such a warm personality and gave us great inspiration and described things in detail on things to do during our stay at the hotel. Moreover, the food was great, we enjoyed the French and the Japanese in particular. Our room were very clean and freshly decorated. Next time we are thinking about coming just as a couple since the hotel had such a variety of options for catering us. Wish to come back one day!
This was the most luxurious experience I have ever had. From the first moment to the last....
The facilities is super nice, and the aircondition was so smooth I was nerver disturbed. The service was extraordinary and I want to give an extra honour to Mr. Adrian Jaskinia Kwiatów. Best Regards Ing-Marie Hagstrom from Sweden at the ASEA team :)
