May 18, 2025Enjoyed But Wished It Were Better
Like all Secrets resorts, this one has pluses and minuses. We’re glad we came but it was not our favorite. On plus side, the grounds of the resort are beautiful. If you’re a beach lover, the one here is a cut above average and the snorkeling is great. Sharing real estate with a Dreams and a Sunscape, each of which had its own unique ambience and restaurants, also makes variety the spice of this particular Secrets. Our room was spacious and the Preferred Area pool is quiet and verdant. The Preferred Lounge was also the best among all we have used - spacious and with stocked with good snack food. Finally, our Preferred Guest “minder” was wonderfully sweet and helpful, not pushy in any way. In the “needs improvement” category, room service was weak - we had to ask multiple times to get some things done. Noise level at night was annoying, as workers routinely roll their wheeled carts down the bumpy pathway by the ground floor rooms inadvertently waking us (tip: don’t reserve a ground floor room). A bright light outside our bathroom brightened our bedroom at night, making an eye mask mandatory equipment to bring on a trip here. Finally, the food quality was disappointing compared to other Secrets. We were both sickened by something we ate on day two, forcing us to stay within eyesight of a bathroom for the next several days. Some might say “well, that’s Mexico” but that has not been our experience. We lived in Mexico for two years and we have been to many other Secrets resorts; this was a first for us.

May 14, 2025My wedding at Secrets Aura!!
I had my wedding at Secrets Aura right on the beach!!! I can’t say enough about the wedding coordinator Nadia Riveros. She was absolutely incredible! Probably one of the sweetest and kindest women that I have ever met. Planning a wedding through email can be tricky, but she made the process seamless and stunning!! Her attention and dedication to detail is out of this world. She worked so hard to make my day so special with zero stress. I am so glad I picked this resort to have my wedding at. My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon! And the service at this resort was incredible. All the staff are super friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything you needed. The resort itself is a little older and definitely needs some updates and renovations. But I would stay there again because the service was so amazing. The restaurants were wonderful. And the views of the beach were breathtaking. If you’re thinking of having your wedding in Mexico, I suggest doing it at Secrets Aura because Nadia is the best!

A visit to Paradise
I give the staff an A+ Everything was simply great! The staff was very friendly and made us very comfortable. The food was very good. We want to give a special shout-out to "Luz" who did the entertainment and was very kind and professional!!! Also the staff and food at the Market Cafe was great! Especially Cap:Rosana, Host:Kena, Waiter/Majero: Mario, Elizabeth, Albertas, Gaspar The Front Desk staff was so very helpful with helping me with some technical phone issues. Overall I give this place an A+

Beach area was nice. Room was ok. Food was ok at some restaurants and excellent at others. We made several requests as preferred club members that were not handled. We have had excellent experiences at secrets in the Dominican and dreams in Curacao. Highly recommend both of those but not the same level of benefits on our Jamaica trip and Cozumel trip.

Secrets , Nice older resort, Service is Great, Bugs in the room were NOT!
We spent a week at Secrets. There were many pluses and a few minuses. The hotel grounds were very well maintained. But the Secrets property has gotten pretty old. When we checked in to our room it was Very musty. once the AC ran for a couple days it did get better, But about the third night we started noticing bites on us we we got out of bed in the morning and we could see bug excrement in the sheets. Nothing against house keeping, they came in a cleaned every day. We did the preferred package, but other than the preferred breakfast and preferred lounge, we did not use it much. we did try breakfast at Sunscape.. NO.. Pool bars were lacking in energy, and bartenders.. for goodness sake, put up drink menus, play more music, KEEP and bartender at Pool Level on the preferred and manatee pool bars. You have to snorkel near the pier!! hundreds of fish.. It would be nice if they let you have the snorkel gear more than 45 minutes at a time. We still had the Time Share pitch, though they call it something else.. I just said NO.. I'm on vacation and not going thru and extended pitch for a free massage or something.
