Maybe a 3 star resort at Best; don't expect much!
At best, this a 3 star resort. Most of the afternoons, we had no water in our room and the shower constantly backed up with water. You call the front desk and hardly ever get an answer, so if there's a problem or you want room service, good luck! The food is always cold and the buffet is constantly lacking food. Trying to get silverware is impossible. The basics are just severely lacking and no one really cares. I guess they're fine with being a 2 start resort. On the positive side, the resort is very tropical and has a beautiful beach. The pools are mostly old and lacking; some are missing many tiles and look dirty all the time. I don't think it would take much attention to get this to a 4 star, but you have to actually care about your guests. We spent $335 for a couples massage and body scrub That were awful. Don't bother with the spa. The Royal Elite package was a must, but it's still lacking. I feel not having it would have made this a 1 star experience. They are constantly out of the higher end alcohol. Many of the staff are friendly and helpful but there is that overall lack of really caring about the customer service that will keep us from ever coming back here. We've been to many all inclusives in this area, and with so many choices, it's sad that they don't strive to do better. They will take all your dirty towels from the room and leave you one to share amongst your family. You constantly have to ask to get the mini fridge restocked. There's a hole in the bottom of the tub. The tile is disgusting. The glass doors to the shower and toilet drag on the tile and constantly get jammed. The room is in desperate need of a facelift. Honestly, the entire resort looks and feels very outdated and old. We can deal with that if the food and service were great, but sadly, they are worse than the outdated feel. The food service and quality is by far the worst aspect of this resort. A guest should never have to sit for half an hour waiting for silverware and drinks. The elevator didn't work the first half of our stay, which wasn't a problem for us, but good luck if you require this feature and are on the 3rd floor like us. I wish I could have left a more positive review but there are just far too many problems with this place. I talked to owners who had the same complaints. Most said they would never come back if not for the fact they own here and can't go anywhere else.
Family Vacation Spot
Overall this is a great place to go with a young family (mine were 5,7,9). The beach is amazing as it isn’t too rough and the sand is super white so the water is that perfect teal colour you think of in Bora Bora etc. My kids loved the slides and we took advantage of the pickle ball courts, bikes, and the cupcake cafe (good coffee!) etc. The shows at night were fun (9pm-10pm) and they had some fun bouncy castles set up one night for the kiddos. The rooms were clean and I found it easy to get requests for things via the app. The only reason I wouldn’t go back was the food quality. I found it all tasted like a cafeteria. Didn’t ruin the trip but would definitely make me book another place next time.
Favorite bartender, José!
We found all of the staff very friendly and helpful. Our favorite bar was the Avenue bar where José works. We've been to the resort 4 times and we look forward to seeing him. He's always friendly and professional. Even when the bar was busy he treated us well and gave us his full attention while making a time consuming beverage. His happy demeanor is most appreciated.
The bartenders are great, especially Ruperto Jugzo Mac Melqui at bar 9000, the family pool swim up bar. He was very attentive. He went out of his way to make us happy. He remembered how we liked our drinks. He even delivered us some drinks when he saw we were finished the first one.
Excellent bars in this resort. Very friendly staff no matter what part of the resort you are in
Excellent bars in this resort. Bartender in Avenue Bar José is an excellent bartender. Very professional and respectful-and always friendly. He makes anything you ask! His smile when you walk in is inviting and makes us return every night
