Nov 16, 2025They will steal your money
This Resort will steal money from you at check out. When checking out I was told our bill would be 1 price and they ran the total in Mexican pesos. When my card was charged it was $200 more than the price I was told. When looking at the print out they typed in an extra $5,000 pesos. They refused to refund the over charged amount back. Then asked me if I wanted to write down my credit card information for a refund! Total scam and I’m sure they are doing this every day. If it weren’t for this I would have brought my family back. Unfortunately we were left with a terrible check out and bad taste in our mouths.

Very poorly maintained resort Ground floor patio doors don't lock, Light fixtures that don't work, with Light hanging by bare wiring, Shower that won't stay up high enough for even a child to have a shower, only 1 electrical plug that works, First 3 days without house keeping service, mini bar not restocked. Poor site maps that don't indicate where you are, or show where room numbers are, making it a very difficult place to figure,

Pros: - Food and Bars were excellent. The main buffet had a great variety of food options. The ones giving food a negative review have narrow palates. The a la cartes were all fantastic. The Asian one was closed during our stay. but we went to the steak house, Italian, Mexican and French. Mexican was a personal favourite with a fantastic host (Pedro). Make sure to book ahead of time as it fills up quickly even in low season. Bring tip money in Pesos. - Beach. White, sandy stretch of beach. The water wasn't clear due to the waves from stormy weather, but otherwise very warm water. The staff maintain the beachfront well. Plenty of seating options during our time. There will be people trying to sell you stuff on the beach, but they do not hound you when you say "no thank you". - Accommodation. Room was very well kept and renovated. There is daily housekeeping. No issues w/ A/C. We stayed in the adult section - which is very much beachfront. If you have kids, the family section is about a 10 minute walk from the beach or a few minute ride on the resort trolley. - Amenities. Adult and family pool sections - with a little waterpark in the family area. Pools are maintained and water is warm. Cupcake Café (for coffee and deserts). They have nightly shows (Lady Gaga, Shakira, 80s, Disney Night, Mexican). A Disco Club opens afterwards if you decide to stay out later. You can borrow bikes on the resort as well. Main Con: - Timeshare.... They will push this on you hard. They will offer you gifts (we got 100 USD + free 50 min massages & spa access) for only "90 minutes" of your time, but stretches to 3+ hrs since they keep hounding you when you say no. They want you to say yes on the spot as "the offer is only available today" and will try to "sweeten" it when you keep saying no. The sales pitch is felt very ingenuine in attempt to get you onboard.

great time at sandos
Ernesto from the security team was excellent during our stay. He was friendly, professional, and always made us feel safe and welcome around the resort. We appreciated his positive attitude and how attentive he was. Sandos is lucky to have him on the team.

Great night life!!!
Ernesto kept the club lit!! One of the best times I’ve had at a resort club in my life. Such a great time! Highly recommend staying at the Sandos in playa del Carmen!
