Another Wonderful Vacation
This was my 3rd stay at the resort. My best friend and I have the Royal Elite membership and I highly recommend it. I would have given an excellent rating, but this trip we were very disappointed to learn that Management had decided to rotate bartenders around the resort. At our previous stays, the VIP pool bar for Royal Elite had a marvelous bartender, Ismael, but not this year. Several other returning guests were also disappointed, as Ismael is an excellent bartender and a perfect fit for the clientele at that bar. I hope they change that policy, or at least put Ismael back at the Royal Elite pool and not rotate him. The food is delicious and service excellent at all of the restaurants. The accommodations are very comfortable and all of the staff are attentive.
We got a great price on a five night stay all inclusive. The food was good and Ernesto and Eduardo were the best bartenders at the pool that you could ask for! They really made our time fun and treated us well which is important when you book a vacation! Everyone wants to feel welcome. Thanks guys! I would love to come back!
Nice clean resort. Pools are nice and clean. Rooms are clean and up to date. Entertainment pretty cheesy. The Agave and Italian restaurants were excellent. The Tortunga menu sounded awesome but the food didn’t reflect that. The buffet was the worst we’ve encountered in 10 trips to all inclusives. We would definitely go back. Make sure to find the Whale Watchers bar and check out the view from the balcony after dinner. Do not use Amstar for airport transfers. They didn’t show up to pick us up for our flight home and refused to give us a refund.
Our trip to Sandos was outstanding and all our expectations were met. There are plenty of choices for meals. There are plenty of activities to keep occupied. The staff treats you like gold. Ish in the bar takes such pride in making special drinks to make everyone happy. Our room was perfect and comfortable. Having water in the room is such a convenience. We will be back.
May 2019 Trip
This hotel is a 45 minute drive from the airport. It's very picturesque with great views of the ocean on one side and the marina on the other. It's an older property but it's clean and nice. The beach is huge but there's no swimming in the rough Pacific water. There are 3 nice pools with different degrees of energy. There are plenty of lounge chairs at the pool and beach. It's a private beach so there are no annoying vendors anywhere in sight. You can walk to the marina and downtown area in 10-15 minutes. A security guard is stationed at the road entrance and everyone is checked in and out so it felt secure. Sandos Membership (they'll tell you it's NOT a timeshare): When we arrived for our initial check-in we were greeted very quickly and offered champagne. After checking in there was a quick push for the membership presentation but we were never again approached after that. Our room was very clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. It was a bit noisy at times near the main floor elevator. The service was great. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and hard-working. The food was sometimes great and sometimes just average. We loved the breakfast, the Mexican dinner buffet theme and the seafood restaurant. Beer choices were Tecate Light and Dos Equis. Overall I would recommend this resort UNLESS you want more dining options and/or a big party scene. It was a bit odd that there weren't a whole lot of people around in the evenings but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
