Claudia Zen Massage
San Juan Water Beach Club Hotel an exceptional resort. Great customer service, from all the workers. The warm welcome received was exceptional from daily valet parking to the amazing food served at both restaurant at the location. What really top my stay off was the amazing massage I experience with Claudia. It was totally magical, rejuvenating, and relaxing. She was able to apply the right amount of pressure to the areas that needed it. Claudia targeted the most affected areas, extened the massage to the rest of the body amd modified the pressure based on how my body was reacting. On top of that she is a very sweet and pleasant person! I was comfortable with her and that made my experience an overall 5 star. Thank you Claudia, and keep up the amazing work, with your amazing hands.
We would DEFINITELY be coming back to this hotel
The size of this hotel gives it a very cozy feel. It is right on a very clean beach. All the personnel were very nice and pleasant. The food on the rooftop is divine (the drinks need work, a new bartended maybe). I am so happy with my 5 day 4 night stay that when I come back, I wont be searching for other hotels anymore, this is the ONLY place I am coming back to. Big thanks to Brian, the front desk guy, for such a warm welcome and taking care of our needs. Ill be back soon :)
Worst hotel I’ve been in.
I checked in Today, August 5 at this hotel thinking it was going to be a dream like they make it to be on their website. To my surprise it was the contrary which completely ruined my emotion of finally coming back home after 5 years. First, I am from Puerto Rico, spoke Spanish to the girl in front desk, she decided to only speak English, that part I can live with. I was charged taxes that were never mentioned to me, not even on the e-mails, the room is not clean. I wanted the true hotel vibe. Clean, comfortable, this is not it. In the website you might think it’s like a Westin, a Marriott, what I wanted to relax and enjoy. Plan ruined. I got locked on the elevator. First, I pressed lobby and it kept going up and down. When it finally got to the lobby after several minutes I was stuck. The doors weren’t opening at all, I had to sound the alarm three times and NO ONE apologized or asked if we were ok, employees were concerned because they didn’t want to get stuck. The room walls are stained, there is oxidation, broken or ripped curtains, the bed is hard and uncomfortable. Bathroom is not clean at all, no soap, water pressure extremely low. No way to charge my phone close to the bed, if I want to snooze my alarm I have to get up and do it. The A/C is old and makes a lot of noise. Old clock as well that doesn’t even works to charge current phones. I asked for towels for the beach at front desk, they didn’t have any at the moment, told me someone would take them to me at the beach, which is huge. 30 minutes passed and nothing. Had to call the hotel to finally get two towels. It all seems very tacky for the thousands of dollars paid for 5 nights. Completely disappointed and this hotel is making my stay in my home country unpleasant. I was truly expecting something up to the level of 4 or 5 stars. This seems like an inn that has not been very well taken care off. I’ve stayed at some other inns when I was younger and they were better, clean and comfortable. As for the staff, they don’t even greet you when you enter the lobby and when I arrived with my bags no one came to help, had to do it on my own. I don’t recommend this place and I wish I could cancel my stay here and get a refund. Only good thing? The beach is across the street but there are a bunch of hotels in this area way better and cheaper than this one. Do your research. This is coming from a Puerto Rican who was fooled by a website. Don’t come to get stuck on elevators. Don’t pay thousands for very hard towels and a cheap, tacky place. Extremely disappointed, extremely. Horrible experience.
Was Returning to the SJWBC a Good Idea?
We wanted to return to the San Juan Water + Beach Club, our Home Away from Home in Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria did a number on the Little Island as we all knew that the Boutique Hotel, like many others, was supposedly up and operational. But to what extent? I was there helping with Hurricane Maria Relief efforts and saw that that the San Juan Water Beach Club was badly damaged. Was it ready for guests... really ready? Most of the extraordinary Staff Members we knew, evacuated the Island- some returned, some moved away and some moved on. We didn’t know what to expect, but we crossed our fingers and booked a quick trip to the San Juan Water + Beach Club anyway. We arrived at the front desk and was welcomed by Andy. It was so good seeing this ol' friend- now the Assistant Front Desk Manager. Andy informed us of some great new changes as he expeditiously handled our reservation. Within 2 minutes or so, we were handed our room card keys. Thank you so much Andy and thanks for making our stay as wonderful as always! I also have to mention Vanessa at the Front Desk. Her beautiful smile is as infectious as it was when we met years and years ago- how is it that she hasn’t aged a day since then? There she was, handling guests with calm and ease and getting folks checked in and out with that beautiful smile and courteous service. We were placed in our old room on the top floor- it was fresh as a daisy. Some of the furnishings were replaced but all in all it looked the same. I always described the two rooms as Luxury meets Sensuality and I can say with certainty that the space is as elegant and sexy as ever. Victoria, The new Director of Sales, placed a chilled bottle of sparkling wine in the room alongside a charcuterie platter. That’s when we knew that the SJWBC was going to be the great experience we were accustomed to. Janet, the Director of Housekeeping, was still on board (it was wonderful to see her) and she took her position as meticulously as ever. Her new staff members (some veterans too) ensured we had clean towels, sundries and sheets. It was great to see the smiles and hear the friendly salutations every day. It was just like old times. We headed to MIST, the Rooftop Bar & Kitchen (be sure to see my Restaurant Review on that) for a bite to eat. The newly designed Menu with themed food + drink specials for every day of the week informed us that it was Artisan Pizza Night Monday. I got the Margherita of course and my Partner Henry opted for the Classic Pepperoni. There were Monday specials on beer and cocktails too. All of a sudden, we heard a friendly and familiar voice greet us by names. It was Evelyn, one of the top Bartenders at Mist. She was as courteous as ever and bought us a round of cocktails. We were off to a very good start! The next morning, we worked out in the GET FIT Fitness Room. All the treadmills and free weights were all there, intact and running smooth. We worked up an appetite and headed to Zest, the Puerto Rican Grill Restaurant on the Lobby Floor for breakfast. There we saw Jackie! She has been working at the SJWBC for over 13 years and I was glad to see her back post Hurricane Maria. We exchanged hugs and she quickly returned with our Puerto Rican coffee, delicious sunny-side-up eggs, one plate with salchicha (sausage), the other with tocino (bacon), whole-wheat toast on both and no potatoes (if we see them, we will eat them and we’re trying to cut down on the carbs hahahaha!) She also arrived with 2 juices- one pineapple, the other orange. We didn’t order a thing! Jackie just remembered what we liked even though she has not seen us in over 3 years. Now that’s amazing personalized service! Assisting Jackie were 2 other Servers Gianna and Yolanda. They were so quick and efficient, refilling coffee cups, replacing dropped utensils and filling up glasses with iced water. The place was jam-packed with hungry guests and even the Hostess Nadya was busy helping the Servers to ensure we all received friendly expedited service. The next day was a great beach day. The complimentary use of the beach lounge chairs and umbrellas were still in effect and we saw that they have expanded the Beach Service menu as well. Natalie’s feet had wings as she glided on the sand to serve us cocktails and grilled chicken salads. Thank you Natalie for your friendly service ALWAYS with a smile! The following afternoon, I met with Zoreli, the new marketing manager. Within seconds, I knew exactly why the hired her for this new role. Zoreli’s experience has given her the sharpest eyes for marketing ventures including social media marketing. Not to miss an opportunity, she invited me to try one of their award-winning dishes- the shrimp ceviche. I agreed to have it as part of my dinner. We quickly exchanged information and I headed upstairs for a quick shower and off to dinner. I was ready for Taco Tuesday (3 delicious tacos, choice of pork, chicken and/or fish) and I was also ready for my shrimp ceviche. In comes Ivan, a young waiter we’ve met 3 years ago with two stunning cocktails. It was one of his signature cocktail specials of gluten-free vodka, sparkling Prosecco and fresh pineapple juice garnished with star-fruit. After some quick catch-up, I asked about the cocktail and he told me it was to compliment my ceviche - YES! Soon after, Alice, a staff member that we remembered fondly, showed up 2 gorgeous, hollowed-out fresh pineapples. It looked like a party on a platter! The Shrimp Ceviche was nestled among thin slices of red onion, cilantro and fresh lime and pineapple juices. Alongside the ceviche were the crispiest, tastiest tostones anyone could ask for. Thank you Alice for remembering us fondly too and for your special attention throughout our stay. Ivan was as attentive as ever as well. He introduced us to a few more of his signature cocktails and his skill for pairing drinks with certain foods was very impressive. Tell Ivan that H. Luiz sent you and get ready to be dazzled! Our stay was so amazing and we were made to feel like royalty amongst the grounds of the San Juan Water Beach Club. Admittedly, they treat ALL their guests this way but I still like to feel that I’m special. Hahahahaha
