We went to the Royalton last week and had a great experience. All the staff was attentive but most of all we received the best service from our concierge Vanessa. She helped us with everything from beginning to end, and really helped us to have a great experience. We went on the presentation at the hotel, and even though we didn't buy, we continued to have good service from her. Our kids loved her right away and have already drawn pictures to give to her on our next trip down. I definitely recommend this hotel for a great family vacation.
We were there from 6/9 to 6/14 and had a wonderful time! We were treated like royalty and this was our boys first trip to Mexico and the Royalton staff made it great! Special shout out to Juan Jose and Alexx who took great care of us. We did not lack for anything. Can't wait to go back!
On a tour of the resort, falling down the back stairs and getting hurt.
We booked 2 rooms , Jr. suits in the Diamond club area. with swim outs. It was not a good vacations, as we were all set for beach time and ocean enjoyments, Tubing, parasailing, none of that at the Rivera Maya Royalton. just pools, Beaches were laden with sea weed and smelled like dead fish. After spending a whole day in the hospital after my fall down the steps. Not even a concern on my health. Didn't ask, didn't try to help me out. Most DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH, its hard to understand them and them understand us. We will go back to Jamaica.
Amazing hotel, just one BUT
We stayed at the royalton riviera from the 30th of May until June 9th. As you walk in the resort is really impressive. Its pretty big but you soon get used to the sorroubdings The main buffet is very varied so it's up to you to try different foods or end up eating chicken and chips for your whole holidays! There are many restaurants as well, Italian, Mexican, tex mex, Indian... We specially enjoyed the sushi /tepanyaki one. We upgraded to diamond club although we didn't really use the diamond pool or beach area. One of the main reasons we booked it was to be able to book the restaurants in the morning. The butlers are on the ball and they ask you and remind you to make bookings whenever they see you. Last thing we wanted to do on holidays was having to rush or queue for a a table, specially having a tired and hungry 4 year old. We stayed in a junior luxury suit, amazing walk in shower, jacuzzi and a great big bed. There are activities for every age group or you can just chill and enjoy the many cocktails they have. The night shows were very varied and quality. We were very impressed by them. The big BUT is the sargassum/sea weed. In fairness it's not the hotel's fault and they are doing their best to keep the beach clean but it's a lost battle at the moment. So if you're big beach people I would avoid the Caribbean right now(unless you research very well and you're 10000% sure that the beach is OK) Sand is still OK so kids can play with it though. If that doesn't bother you too much this is a fantastic hotel and a great destination. Rent a car and visit playa del carmen, tulum ruins, chichen itza(a longer drive), xel ha and xcaret. We didn't have time for these last 2 but they look a lot of fun. Last thing to mention is the hotel staff. Rosa and efren in the restaurant, cris and gustavo the butlers, Jeanette in the animation team, Carlos in the sushi restaurant the guys a the pool bar.. Truly 5 stars!
Best Vacation Ever
We fell in love with the Royalton. The staff was amazing. There are staff members everywhere and they are very eager to help in any way they can. The entertainment was phenomenal! The nightly shows were beyond our expectations. There are also a lot of daily activities in the main pool area. A foam party, pool volleyball, cooking lesson, etc. The food was mostly great. So many options. We loved the hibachi grill at Zen, but we all felt a little sick later that evening and a small portion of the next day. DEFINITELY splurge a little and opt for the Diamond Club option. It’s worth it! There is a very nice kids area with kids entertainment and it’s very family friendly. However, they also have a great adults only section, the main section and also a Diamond Club section. It’s really perfect for everyone. The Royalton has a great set up on the beach, but unfortunately the seaweed is pretty heavy and the beach in nearly deserted. You don’t really even notice though because the resort has so much to offer. We had the best vacation we’ve ever had. We will definitely be going back.
