Read before taking young baby ....
Currently staying at the Royalton for our honeymoon and came along with our 1 year old son. Thought we would just share our experiences to assist other families when considering this hotel. We have been here one week and have another week to go- Pros - this hotel really try hard with entertainment. Good selection of restaurants No need to pre book restaurants. Good service for breakfast , lunch , dinner and drinks by pool side. Nice hotel room. Lovely pools. Cons - this hotel is not really suitable for young babies . Cot provided in room - old , hard mattress. Room service food - absolutely unhealthy and not suitable for a 1 year old. No high chair available for any room. Kettle available on request ( even though tea and coffee facilities in room!) We have attempted to eat dinner with our baby in the restaurants and as expected the baby does not sit patiently and quietly . My husband and I decided to feed him first and then once he is settled go for our evening meal. Sadly the buffet will NOT allow any food to be taken to the room. Which means either u go with your baby prior to eating your own dinner and they eat chips , processed cheese , pizza or spaghetti bolognaise every night . I have spoken to guest services - whom unsympathetically say this is the hotel rules. One more point - the hotel concierge seem to give fairly regular courtesy calls such As to confirm your room device order - or if all okay with room, if u reply yes to this they are happy. If u ask anything else there seems to be confusion : ie we asked for a table on our balcony and we got brought up chairs / high chair request ( caused confusion )/ declining promotion for spa. Overall nice hotel- but sadly not great with an infant .
A wonderful place for family or couples. This is our second time there, this time with our family. The only downside for us was the mattress needed to be changed in our room- has lost its support. The resort is clean, the food and drink are wonderful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely awesome. Staff is wonderful. Nelly, the bartender at the sports bar was on point all the time, absolutely great. Muy bueno the best chuy was da bomb too. Royalton has the most wonderful pools. The staff are very committed to there jobs and always extremely welcoming!
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
The Good 1) Resort was fairly clean and maintained pretty good 2) Lots of nice pools for kids 3) Lots of options for a la carte meals 4) Service staff was generally polite, accommodating and tried to give good service 5) Bed was very comfortable 6) Brought a crib for our baby 7) Hunter steak restaurant was great food and great service Bad 1) Ocean has lots of seaweed and you dont get the crystal clear water as you would in Bahamas or other nice places 2) Not a fan of special seating for certain people. People pay a lot to come to this resort. you should be able to sit anywhere and get the same service. 3) Luxury room was facing green bushes. So while the room inside is nice, view was horrible 4) You would think an a la carte mexican restaurant in Mexico would be a lot better 5) Tried going to different a la carte restaurants and they were closed for private evening or just closed. Would be nice to know this as we didnt get to try a few places as we werent told when restaurants would be closed. Ugly 1) Getting called 3 mornings in a row (waking us up (baby included) to try and sell us on timeshares 2) People really pushing you to go to this presentation. (constantly followed and bugged) At first you think they are trying to provide good service but it is really just trying to sell you on something. I dont want to pay this kind of money to be constantly bugged.
