Set amidst 27 acres of tropical gardens, fronting the best and most exclusive stretch of Kaanapali Beach, the Royal Lahaina Resort is a truly unique Hawaiian resort. The resort's natural beauty, traditional Hawaiian ambiance, and dedication to five-star service offers guests a timeless and subtle elegance providing for the ultimate in relaxation and tranquility. You will know you're in Hawaii the moment you set foot in the understated lobby. From the cool flagstone beneath your feet to the warm koa-wood walls and inviting wicker easy chairs, you will feel the soothing embrace of the tropics.

The resort's original garden and oceanfront cottage accommodations evoke a quaint beachside experience reminiscent of Hawaii's Plantation Era, situated amid tropical gardens and sprawling oceanfront lawns. With ceiling fans stirring the soft air, inviting couches, and island-style appointments throughout, they have the distinctly homey feel of a relative's beachfront hideaway.

The 12-story Lahaina Kai Tower features luxurious island-inspired guestrooms and suites celebrating the artistry, environment and culture of Hawaii. Each contemporary room pays tribute to the Islands with custom teak furnishings, hand-selected paintings and photographs, and a soft palette that plays counterpoint to the spectacular tropical setting.

Appetites large and small, casual, and cosmopolitan, traditional and adventurous will be more than satisfied by the culinary offerings at Royal Lahaina Resort. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, pupus (delectable snacks), and a full complement of tropical cocktails - eat, indulge, enjoy. Whether it is that first irresistibly cooling lick of a locally made ice cream cone at the Royal Scoop, a meticulously prepared and stunningly presented fresh island fish at The Royal Ocean Terrace, or the signature Mai Tais that made Don the Beachcomber internationally famous, you will dine like royalty.

Don't be surprised if you are joined by visiting celebrities! And beginning in late October, Humpback whales are frequently seen frolicking just off the beach.

    Great Value

This isn’t the Fairmont or the Four Seasons but for the price it’s a solid pick. A little far from the airport. Nice beach. Clean rooms (we were in the tower). Good a/c. Friendly staff. Golf nearby. Diving nearby. The 4 stars are for the value proposition - this isn’t a 5 star resort. No late checkout option hurts but you can hang out by the pool and rinse off (also no shower facilities available outside the rooms). A shower to clean up after a day at the pool would go a long way.

    Kaa'napali Beach at it's finest.

This is the place for you if you want to be treated as a Royal. Top-notch service without pretentiousness, meticulously maintained grounds, generous towel service all delivered with aloha. This is our second stay at this property and we will come back again. One small warning when you first arrive, there is a little confusing approach to the main drop-off spot. You need to drive past the spot that looks like you would turn left to the drop-off spot and continue straight ahead past the set of buildings on your left. You then turn left and circle those buildings. There the driveway splits into a lower elevation service road to the let and you want to take the right/higher elevation road to the drop-off point under the canopy.

Wonderful experience. Great service and relaxing atmosphere. Good food and entertainment and great luau. Very close to a wide variety of shopping and restaurants on Front Street. We plan on visiting this beautiful island many more times in the future.

I really loved the Royal Lahaina Resort. Lots of amenities and wonderful employees. My only complaint would be the sand on the beach is so thick that you sink into it. It should be smoothed down with a grader to make it more tolerable.

    An Absolute Gem

A true Maui treasure! The employees and management go above and beyond to treat you like royalty! It is excellently located with the restaurant and bar overlooking and opening onto kaanapali beach! You can sit during the excellent happy hour, sipping an Amazing Don's Original Mai Tai for only $6 while watching whales fling themselves into the air just off shore. Due to the resort's location facing both Lana'i and Moloka'i, you have one of the best views of the interior seaway the whales congregate in. The Royal Lahaina also caters well to both couples and families. Having visited with just my wife and now with our two children, I was amazed at how well the amenities of the resort match both travelling groups. As a couple we stayed in the tower but as a family we opted for a cottage room. If you are travelling with kids I cannot recommend a ground unit cottage enough. It was great to be able to open the patio door and allow my energy crazed children run out and chase each other on the grass while I relaxed in a pool chair. Utter bliss. Additionally, Lahaina is a short distance away making daily excursions into one of the capitals of the Hawaiian Kingdom and a fun vibrant place to be super convenient. Also a ten minute walk on the beach path leads you through the properties of other resorts to Whaler's Village, a happening outdoor shopping area with some of the best restaurants on the island for the casual traveler in the Monkeypod, Lualei's, and the Hula Grill. Great affordable food and drinks are right at your fingertips. For travellers wanting to be immersed in the culture and lifestyle of Hawaii, choose the Royal Lahaina. You will be grateful you did.
