My family and I booked to stay at the Royal Decameron last minute through bookit.com. We arrived at the resort and found it to be way below what we expected from an all inclusive resort. Entertainment was poor, rooms and general condition of the hotel was old although reasonably clean. Food in the one regular ‘restaurant’ was very poor. Overall a very poor experience. So bad that we stayed two out of 7 nights and left for another resort. When we checked out we were told that we could only process refund through bookit.com. The Royal Decameron refused to give me anything to show that we checked out. We contacted bookit.com after arriving home and they tried to get confirmation that we had checked out. Royal Decameron refuse to confirm our early departure. To summarize poor resort and dishonest hotel.
If you are planning to have fun and relax this is the place fun for you and your family!! Rodopho is the guy who makes all the fun! Can’t wait to be back with the family! Totally worth the trip and look for Andrea for extra fun
Absolutely loved the staff here, especially the event planner, Rodolpho as he made our trip x3 better with his bubbly personality and Jose the bartender at me main pool bar. The photographer Abraham was such a pleasure to interact with as well as he truly did capture the moments between my boyfriend and I. The photoshoot was complementary but you had to pay for the pictures which were reasonably priced. We went to the spa as well and they gave great massages that got me feeling fresh out the womb however there was a complementary 20 minute facial post massage that we never recieved. For the food, if you go earlier then it tastes much better than if you go in the evening. They have interactive shows at night that are quite entertaining to watch/ participate in. I would not recommend getting the internet as it is $12/day and crashes or stops working every 20 mins or so and is excruciatingly slow when it does work. Would come here again.
fabulous staff, good location
i was at this resort back in Jan of this year and forgot to do my review then. i'll do my best by memory - we had 2 rooms book for 4 guests and they upgraded us to a lovely 2 room suite overlooking the ocean (the perks of it not being a busy week!). the front desk staff were EXCEPTIONAL!! everyone always ready with a warm smile and cheery greeting. the lobby bar opened late and closed early, we would have preferred longer hours there. the main bartender was a bit of a grouch. he could be pleasant with some guests but it was hit and miss. he was miserable with us all week long. no idea why. the food was great - I really enjoyed the buffet. we never made it to one of the a la carte's, I don't think. we spent much of our time off resort as my mom was staying at a little place nearby. we often headed down to the market with her. i love this area - i have been twice and feel very very safe walking about or taking the bus. the bus system is fantastic - you just wait at the curb and they stop for you wherever you wait. i think it was about 20p (don't quote me.. i can't remember for sure) each way to the Plaza Mijares - I can't get enough of the shops and restaurants and art galleries there. leave your wallet at home the first day, tho. and don't drink too much tequila while shopping... they're really work on their salesmanship and make it seem like you're getting a great deal. some places are more reputable than others and they're all very pleasant - just be careful and shop around before settling on your choices. if you are up to leaving the resort for a bite walk out the front door, turn left and just a couple blocks up you'll find Cynthia's on your left. SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! incredible food at very very reasonable prices. much of it is organic and her food is locally sourced. she's always there, working her butt off. a couple nights a week they have live music, as well. reservations for dinner aren't a bad idea. we go there repeatedly! back to the resort - the staff in the buffet were lovely. it sometimes took a bit to get them to understand what i was asking for - cafe con leche just means a cup of coffee with milk on the side here. if you want it with warm milk, ask for a cappuccino but you may have to wait a bit. the pool was lovely - but chilly. we didn't spend time in it after dipping our toes in. I didn't get to the beach - 2 of my travelling companions did, tho, and they enjoyed a nice long walk each morning. when i did see/hear a bit of the evening entertainment it was impressive. only caught a smidge of a couple shows, tho. i'm sorry i can't remember the names of the staff members who were exceptional - like the fellow in the lobby who was constantly running luggage about and helping with anything you may ask. he was the hardest workin fellow i saw all week! and, again, the front desk staff were all just fantastic. the resort was clean and well maintained. the only problem i can remember is the sole elevator was out of service a lot - which meant the poor fellow in the lobby was dragging luggage up and down stairs continually. overall i would return if the price were right and i wasn't staying with my mom and her nearby apt. very low-key, relaxing, quiet place while we were there. not a party palace by any means. if that's the kind of holiday you're after, you won't be disappointed. (pretty sure they had just recently become adults only)
Great Summer Holiday
We leave tomorrow after being here a week. Amazing staff! Loved Dennis! Loved Roberto! Thanks for helping us create wonderful memories! Rooms were comfortable, food was good (2 places to eat), no pool service but a swim up bar made it convenient. Fun activities for everyone.
