    Hidden Gem of a hotel

We arrived on a Saturday and from the minute we entered the hotel, the staff were incredible kind and courteous. Though we were a little earlier than check in,they assigned us a room on the 5th (top) floor. The room: spacious, clean and modern. Bathroom was a bit odd with the sliding door (I was there with my brother!) But we managed. The balcony is key. The views of the sea,the ambiance...nothing beat this view and we spent a lot of time out here. The food: we aren't foodies. So if you are looking for haute cuisine in a grandiose fashion, this isn't it. But something for everyone, we ate at the buffet, the lunchtime snack bar (jerk chicken here was fabulous) and the a la carte restaurants (one on this side one on Montego side). I'm a picky eater and always found something to eat. The beach: AMAZING. warm water, some wake in the afternoon from the boats (so if taking out the kayaks and paddle board, go early - less strenuous). The only pain here is that it isn't massive and the beach chairs go quick. Be prepared to run down earrrrllllly to get. The staff: incredible. Hands down some of the hardest working folks ever. They really want you to enjoy and make every effort to get you up and doing stuff, but not in an annoying way. They have all kinds of activities (we loved bingo) and they give out prizes, etc. Great group on people working there. A few that stuck out in our minds: Cam (pool bar), Poochie (Activities) Romain (lobby bar), Snoop (pool bar), Travis (activities). I highly recommend this hotel. I am returning for my second visit in December and can't wait for the people who are coming with me to see how great it is. One love Jamaica!!

    Memorable time.

When you just arrive the first expression is this hotel is ok so far not spectacular when you just arrive and viewing the entrance. However as you enter the premises you are well greeted and the hotel though small is beautiful. There is also a sister hotel next door that you also have access to. Also located at the sister hotel are games gym and spa (gym and spa only at sister hotel) and access to their beach and pool and restaurants. The rooms all had a breathtaking view of the beach sea and pool so it didn't matter which room you got. The food was ok not a lot in variety but that's typical and what you did eat was ok. The staff went above the call of duty and all made sure you were well treated, taken care of and always greeted with a warm welcome. They were annoyingly attentive lol (meant in a good way). Always making sure there was nothing you need. As a vegetarian you are not left out if you do not see anything to eat the staff will make sure that you are taken care of. Just ask for anything from food to drink. They want to know how they can please you. They made our stay spectacular and memorable. No complaints about this place. This is not really a kids hotel meaning no activities or place to keep children however there is a kiddies pool and games you could play with them. Just means you spend more time with young children. My son really enjoyed the pool, sea and beach couldn't get him out and he was also able to manage the adult 4ft pool being that he is 6yrs old. Over all I give this hotel 4/5. Only thing I did not like was that even though I was ground floor I could not just walk out to the pool and beach. The ground floor rooms does not open out to the pool so you had to walk all the way around to get to it unlike the sister hotel. Thanks for a wonderful experience. I'm definitely returning with my family very soon.

    great time had

We had a great time here , Staff was friendly for the most part , (tell the food and beverage manager to smile more ). Food was excellent in flavor.Drinks were awesome . Beach was very nice and clean . One disappointing afternoon was had at the beach after a heavy downpour was that the sewer water from the street washes directly into the bay and turned the water from pristine blue to black in a matter of minutes , Perhaps this is why reefs are dying when you have gas oil and road grease wash into the water . This is beyond the resorts control i am sure as its environmental this is why i have still given a 5 star rating . Rooms were clean (tell the maids to make sure there is toilet paper in the rooms) and air conditioning was really good . Resort was walking distance to local shops , We visited Margaritaville and highly recommend going which is a 8 minute walk. Would i go back to this resort , Yes i would.

Once you go you know, once you know you go again!

Last week marked my 23rd time in Jamaica in the last 12 years, my 17th visits at either one of the Decameron properties, and the 5th at Decameron Cornwall. Needless to say, I love the place Some people call this being crazy, I call this having found a second home. I will touch on both properties in this review. Anyone staying at Decameron Cornwall has access to everything including the Montego Beach side and anyone staying at the Montego Beach side has access to the Cornwall beach and pool but will not be able to order drinks on that side or use the buffet or Mediterranean restaurant. The rooms The Decameron Cornwall is more recent so the rooms are more modern. They are very stylish and all facing the ocean which is a big plus. I do know however, that they are renovating the rooms at the Royal Decameron Montego Beach side and it is worth mentioning that they are all ocean facing as well. There is a mini fridge in all rooms at Decameron Cornwall and is filled daily with water, pops and beer. The beach The Decameron Cornwall has a bigger beach. The water is beautiful and many people snorkel and say there are nice things to see. No need for water shoes. Cornwall has a bigger piece of beach than the other resort but none of the beaches are the type you can walk on for hours as they are small pieces of beach. On the Montego beach side there are cushions laid out by the beach and a trampoline. You can watch the beautiful sunsets lying on those mats overlooking the ocean. . The pools I LOVE the Decameron Cornwall beach pools. It has shallow areas and deeper areas. However there is no swim-up bar but there is one at the other property. The bars I always spend the end of my day at the pool bar at Decameron Cornwall or the lobby bar. I have to give a big shout out to: Romaine Gayle, Cam, Ray and Stacey who I like to call the lady with the red lipstick!!. They are all wonderful and they always make my stay more enjoyable with their smiles. They are always in a good mood and my glass never stays empty long at their bar. They make me feel like family. Obviously at different time of the day they are swamped with a full bar but always efficient in trying to serve everyone as fast as they can. The restaurants Love both the Mediterranean restaurant who has seafood pasta and steak to die for and the Sook as well on the Montego Beach side. I had the best coconut shrimp there. The buffet are both really good. The one at Cornwall is slightly bigger but both are very good. In the morning there is mimosa on the Cornwall side. Entertainment I no longer really go see the shows on the Montego beach side so I cannot really judge them. Both sides are good as I mentioned perhaps with the Cornwall being more of the quiet side, while the Montego Beach side has more action. Both have people of various age and they all seem to enjoy. The entertainment team does a good job with the daily activities and try to get people to participate without being too pushy which is something that I appreciate. Going outside Do not be scared of going outside the resort for a walk on the hip strip. Sure some people are going to talk to you and offer various things including getting your hair braided or drugs or to go see their stores but a simple no and thank you goes a long way. You don't have to be scared, just say you're not interested and move along. 2 hotels Both properties are excellent, the Decameron Cornwall has a few more perks (fridge in the room, mimosa at breakfast etc.) but is also a bit more expensive, so you get what you pay for. No matter where you decide to stay I am sure you will have an awesome time. I recommended this hotel to a lot of people over the years and I have never heard of someone not enjoying their stay. In fact many went back multiple times. The beach, the chairs, the pools, the rooms, it's all a bit of the same no matter where you go. What makes a big difference is the people and this is what I like the most about Jamaica. Its people and the chill vibe ! everyone is nice whether at the reception, the bars or the restaurants/buffet. Of course you have to know what you are getting into, so if you are looking for big 1000+ rooms luxurious type hotels, this might not be the place for you but if you like smaller hotel settings and very nice amenities without being over the top then you will enjoy yourself. Also the location right on the hip strip and 5 mins from the airport is one of the main reason I chose it in the first place. Last shout out to Andrei, the front desk Manager and Victor the Regional Director whom I have known for many years now and always makes me feel like family.
