My boyfriend and I spent one week at this resort, we just got back from our vacation and already wanting to go back. The location is good, close to the airport which is a good quick transfer, you see and hear the planes coming in but it’s not disturbing at all. Up the street is Usain Bolt’s bar and margaritaville. As soon as we get off the bus and into the lobby we were greeted by friendly staff. The check in agent was so nice and friendly! I don’t remember his name. We arrived earlier than check in is but within 15 mins we had our room ready. We were greeted with drinks which was also really good. The room was very nice! King size bed and on the top floor (only five floors) Our view was amazing, bed was comfortable, bathroom was good size. There was a couch that was probably the size of a double mattress. The room and all of hotel were very clean, we had the fridge in our room restocked every day, we had beer, coke and water. The cleaning ladies did an amazing job at cleaning every day and we always got fresh towels. We didn’t use the pool. The beach was really nice and also clean. Enough chairs and huts regardless of what time we went to the beach we also found a spot. The water is clean, we didn’t have any seaweed on the shore. The entertainment team was amazing. We had Jermaine (nickname Spade), Jermaine, Travis and Big Show (don’t remember his real name). Spade and Jermaine always smiling and friendly, always trying to get everyone involved regardless of age. They were always in good spirits. Spade has amazing dance moves, he would get all of us moving in our chairs. He was patient with everyone who was trying to follow along and dance along side with him, he would even slow down and show step by step the dance moves. The bar tenders at the lobby bar and pool bar were always so friendly and always welcomed us with smiles and quick service. The coffee at the coffee bar on the second level was always good and hot. All staff members, regardless of where they were working, were always smiling and welcoming and very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious! There was fresh fruit and fresh fish every day at dinner, there are so many different types of food that no matter what you eat you’ll definitely find something to eat and it will fill you up. The Mediterranean a la carte restaurant was delicious! The portions were good, you don’t leave hungry but you also don’t leave stuffed to the point where you’re in a food coma. Every night there was entertainment and those singers were so good. There was also a magician one night and he did a great job! I’ll definitely be going back!
After working in the hotel and catering industry all my life I am quite critical and have quite high standards...but this hotel met 99% of my expectations. We check trip advisor and book based on reviews as it’s honest feedback but you sometimes have to ignore the “moaners” or “unable to please people” My husband, myself, 12 year old son, 9 year old daughter stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks from 25th October. When we arrived we were tired and hot, the transfer was amazing, only 10 min taxi ride which was arranged by tui in a nice air conditioned car...the reception is airy, spacious and so cool...there were a large group of Jamaicans checking in, it was loud and there seemed to be disorganisation but you learn after a while that there’s the Jamaican way and time about doing things and when we did check in they were efficient and polite. We were taken to our room by a member of the team who helped with our cases too ..Our room was on the second floor and was great..so clean and had 2 double beds and a large single, the view is breathtaking from the balcony From the first day we kept getting surprised with staff to food to entertainment..just got better and better. We met some lovely couples of all ages and most have been several times...one lady 32 times and another couple 27 times!! My 2 kids loved the snorkelling, the fish are beautiful and all different colours, shapes, sizes, if you take a piece of bread from breakfast or left over till then feed them this and you’ll get loads. We went on the hotels catamaran which is small but it’s free so was nice to go out a bit further, there’s also canoeing, wake boards all complimentary for hotel guests. The beach is beautiful, well kept and raked at night, no litter, the sun beds are comfortable and we never struggled to get 4 together. The sea is transparent and so warm, do take beach shoes though as there are sea urchins that can be painful if trodden on. The restaurant is lovely, the choice is abundant, our son is the fussiest eater so ended up eating bread, chips, pizza and cheese most of the holiday but that was ok with him, my daughter has a severe egg allergy but after being introduced to the chef and the senior kitchen staff they went out of their way to make her some egg free cookies so she could have pudding! They were delicious too, she was so chuffed. Every meal I checked what she was having was ok and they double checked every time. There is also the snack bar open for burgers, hot dogs, chips, pizza etc..that’s open 12-5 then 11pm-1am if you’re pekkish late!! The pool is also very lovely...Grant is wonderful and throughly Cleans the pool every morning, chirpily singing as he does it...he was so friendly with the kids as they were eager to get in the pool at 9am but he let them in one end until he finished. That’s the only thing I’d say could do with being done earlier! But at least it’s done! Inflatables are allowed in the pool, the sun beds are again plentiful and there’s also daybeds which are like laying on a bed! You’re allowed to drink around the edge of the pool as long as you’re careful not to spill, ants and bees were around a lot, especially by the bar. The pool bar was a hub of energy with nice reggae music and a large cocktail board, the staff were happy to make something up if you told them what spirits you liked. You’ll get looked after if you tip ($1 would do) but we left it until the end and tipped the most accommodating staff to us. We did afternoon bingo, trivia, there too which was very funny, kids are allowed to join in. The entertainment team are a credit to the hotel in particular...Travis, Big Show & Spade.. the shows were so funny and the guest singers had fab voices ... also the lifeguard Stevie was fab with the kids playing ping pong with them when no one was in the pool. Our daughter picked up an ear infection on the 2nd week so we had to send for the doctor..this was $500 but he was so nice and gentle, very thorough washing her ears out to get any bacteria out then prescribing her antibiotics and ear drops. Well worth it as she was getting quite poorly but the next day she was so much better... we can claim that from our insurance anyway. The nurse at the nurse station (which is at the hotel next door) was very well spoken and educated it seemed, we felt reassured with her and the doctor. We didn’t do any trips or excursions as we were happy staying at the hotel, but heard good things about some...quite expensive though. The coffee shop is a nice touch, I visited every day for a nice morning coffee and Antoinette & Romaine were so lovely... interacting with me..it’s a quiet haven on 2nd floor so it’s nice for a bit of time out. There’s loads more I could say but I’m sat on my night shift sad that it’s so horribly cold back here and I wish I could just take us all back there tomorrow! We will definitely re visit. Make sure you get the Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach hotel and not next door as it’s very tired looking and the pool wasn’t great and cleanliness wasn’t as good. Thank you to all the team at the hotel, the staff made it for us...we wish Andrea all the best with her newly appointed post as Hotel manager and can’t wait to come back. One love!!! The Williamson’s

My husband Dave and I have just returned from this lovely hotel. We really needed a 'chill out' holiday and that's exactly what we got! Our room was always kept very clean, no loo brush though! Huge shower. The food in the Jamrock buffet was excellent with a good choice of local dishes and our waitress, Jenesha Morris, was very well trained and made mealtimes very enjoyable. The beach was raked every morning early and Dave loved the snorkeling, so many fish. I am not a water baby but he encouraged me to wade in a short way to see the fish. So close, swimming right next to me, a lovely experience. Hip Strip worth a walk. No problem with locals. We were offered to look in their shops but as soon as we said no thanks they just say ok man - no pressure. All the people are so smiley and friendly. The hotel staff always had a smile and always helpful. We even got hugs when we left, just like a happy family. We are already looking when we can return! Love to you all there at Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach, thanks for a great holiday. Xxx
We arrived on 21st of October, check in was quick although our room wasn’t ready so we just sat having a leisurely drink in the lobby after a long flight. We finally were taken to our room around 4 o’clock and was quite surprised how big the room was, it was clean comfortable with a well stocked mini fridge and a fantastic view (every room has ocean view) although I never saw the maid the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and toiletries and fridge replenished, the bed I would say was medium comfort not hard but not soft either and was huge. The food. Breakfast is best, plenty of options both Caribbean and international, loved the fried dumplings, various options for lunch and dinner always found something I liked, which was replenished but could have been a bit quicker at that but at the end of the day I wasn’t going anywhere so I sat and waited till it was replenished. There was a snack bar to the left of property should you get hungry between meals you can also use the sister hotel (montego beach) for meals drinks entertainment and a dip in the pool. The entertainment. Was a bit hit and miss on occasion but enjoyed most nights and there’s always next door if you don’t like what’s on, just check entertainment boards at both hotels. The staff. Most delightful staff I’ve come across nothing is too much trouble polite and helpful and hard working. The pool and beach, Lovely large pool great temperature especially in the afternoon always plenty of sun beds both on the beach and poolside the sea was crystal clear with no big waves, there is also a beach bar by the pool with a friendly bartender always happy and singing I think her name was Antoinette. Outside the hotel. The hotel is on the hip strip with plenty of shops bars and restaurants, margaritaville is a must great atmosphere in the day and busy, great for music drinks food and swimming if you fancy a break from the hotel. We went twice and throughly enjoyed it gets busy Thursday and Saturday night. Also went to Ricks cafe another great day out. It safe to go on the hip strip but you will get approached for drugs and especially shopping, but a polite no thanks will suffice, not sure about the shopping though they are a bit full on. Overall this was a great hotel if I had one gripe it would be there was no hot water when we got there, I heard one man saying he hadn’t had hot water for 5 days but we were lucky it came back on that night. Also one gripe about guests leaving their dirty crockery outside the lift on a ledge, if the hotel allows you to take food to the room it’s just common curtesy to take the plates back, you only have to go down the lift and walk a few steps to the bar it made the place look untidy let alone attracting flies on saying that would I return, IN A HEARTBEAT.
We stayed at the RDCB mid October, we had booked to stay here for 11 days, but due to how awful it was we stayed for 6, we would have stayed less if our tour operator had acted faster & we had been able to locate the rep. The hotel is basic & is far from luxurious, a certain UK tour operator is now marketing this hotel as a PLATINUM property,At best I would say it’s a 2 star & this is only because it has a lovely beach (this is the Caribbean so it would be expected) The hotel ground floor is all in one open plan space & consists of a reception area, lounge, entertainment space (8 feet by 8 feet) a bar, dining/restaurant. There is a large pool with adequate beds. Beach towels are available, $25 if you lose them. We never had an issue finding a sun bed on the beach. So to the negatives; on our first day, we were in the downstairs area at 17:43 my wife by the bar I came out of the toilets (hand dryer doesn’t work) & the whole area was full of smoke/fog & the fire alarm going off/ I may add we were the only people there, the hotel were in the process of FOGGING, it was absolutely shocking. This was covering everywhere, the bar, dining room & everything in there, glasses, cups, cutlery ect. Dining; the food was really poor. So we discovered to go early for breakfast & evening dinner as anything that would be edible would be gone should you come later. Most half decent food would not be replenished. We are not fussy eaters & we have stayed in boards over the years but there is no way the 4 star PLATINUM rating fits with the food served. Rooms; we had a fourth floor room, room 1403, it was grubby. The bathroom was in need of a very deep clean & having the wash basin replaced as it was cracked the full length of it. The shower unit was dirty, the shower is a large rain head type, we only had COLD water for 5 & half days & no water for a half evening. We clearly knew there was an issue with there being no HOT water & raised our concerns at least 3 times a day to absolutely no avail, excuses were made, not once did we get an explanation or an apology until Day 5 when we had a piece of paper pushed under our door saying there was a boiler issue? There was a rubber fire on the 19th with pluming thick smoke between both properties. We had by now had enough, having being exposed to PESTICIDES, FUMES, having had no HOT for our whole time there, the dreadful lack of customer support, the dreadful food & almost non existent House keeping. The bedroom area, theres a safe, that isn’t really 100% safe? The bed is comfortable enough but by day 2 is damp from the Air Conditioning, the room becomes damp, the curtains were filthy & the patio doors were dirty & I don’t think they have been cleaned for a long time (like most of the glass/windows at this property) Towels were never changed without visiting reception a number of times daily or calling housekeeping. The same was with shower gel, toilet tissue (we were left with two sheets on our 5 day) the mini fridge was not replenished without making a visit/phone call. We found out on our 5th day that some guests who were also staying on the 4th floor also had been sent to the RIU PALACE to shower. Dining; unless you got to breakfast & dinner early you were likely to get whatever other guests didn’t want, as anything that was edible would not usually get replenished. General; there was a large stain going down the stairs into the lobby area that was there for three days, the general cleanliness of this property is very poor. The hotel is built next to a cemetery. The security at the front consists of one guard in a porta cabin, security on the beach, the guard/s chat with the persons ‘illegally’ on there, I had Cannabis thrown onto my sunbed, I had to go speak to the person who threw it on my bed & tell him I wasn’t interested. It must have been pretty intimidating for older guests. We spoke to many people who said they had had an awful time at this hotel. All the positive reviews I have read make me question if they are genuine reviews by real guests. By the fourth day I had made contact to the UK to say we wanted to move hotels, we finally saw the rep on our fifth day along with many other disgruntled customers. We had to pay £702.21 to move from this property to a 4 star plus? This new hotel generally costs around £150 more when booking a 11 day stay? Would I recommend the Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach? This is by far the worst holiday experiences ever. The negatives out weigh the positives by far.
