Fantastic hotel and staff
On arrival at the Ru Vallarta hotel we had a huge problem Caused by TUI , We made our booking for two couples and TUI decided it was a good idea that we all share the same room, after speaking to TUI and explaining our problem they informed us They do not care what people get up to in there rooms implying we are swingers,They refused to help with our problem,The Manager Juan Carlos and assistant lupita realised we had a problem and informed us this not uncommon with Tui,They immediately solved the problem for which we are extremely grateful, every single members of staff made our stay wonderful and we shall return
We have been home from Mexico for 2 weeks’ still missing our amazing holiday. We went for our 25th wedding anniversary with my sister and her husband. Unfortunately my brother in law was rushed into hospital the day after we arrived for a strangulated hernia without warning. Our travel insurance were very awkward to say the least. But after private hospital then moved to public hospital24 hrs then to another private hospital surgery was finally done. We were then able to after all the stress enjoy our second week. Our TUI reps Carrick, Kia and Rachel were absolutely amazing . What a fantastic hotel, well worth the money, and the 12.5 hour flight. The staff were friendly always with a smile. Hotel very clean. Rooms cleaned every day fridge and mini bar restocked every day. Evening entertainment was brilliant every night, but mostly amazing. Great choice of food and restaurants . We loved the beach attached to hotel, as much as we loved the two pools. Entertainment staff round pool were great especially Keile he has a great smile and always got guests to join in with his friendly manner. We did three trips booked through our reps to Mascota. We really enjoyed this very educational, if you want to learn a bit of Mexican culture. Then we went to Caletas island, weather overcast but great entertainment from boat crew. Then the Rythm Of The Night which is an absolute must. We also took a 40 min taxi ride to Malecon another great trip. We would all go back tomorrow if we could. Would definitely recommend . 10/10 Thank you to all the staff and TUI reps
Great hotel for the price
We stayed here June 8th-13th with 2 families- 4 adults and 4 kids. We booked the standard rooms but were upgraded to family rooms when we go there. We were on the first floor so no view but be were on the side so it was quite, which is what we wanted. The family room just has one king size bed and one double instead of 2 doubles, which are very small. Check in was very quick and easy and it was nice to not be pressured into a timeshare presentation. They gave us 2 rooms next to each other which was nice. We did call ahead of time to request this. This hotel is not a 5 star hotel. I would say it is between a 3 and 4 star hotel. We were aware of this so it was just what we were expecting. As it has been said before, it is showing some wear and tear and due for an upgrade. The hotel is very clean. The room was clean and was not musty or smelly. The beds were very hard. We requested an egg crate but they did not have any the first night so put extra blankets under the sheets. They did come the next day and add the egg crate. This did help but it was still hard. The pillows were very flat as well. The bathroom had 2 sinks and was an all in one bathroom with the everything in one room, no separate toilet area or shower area. The shower worked well but sprung a leak in the shower nozzle hose the last day. It was older but everything worked fine. The small fridge was stocked every other day with water, soda, beer and mixers. They had a coffee pot in the room too and large bottles of water to fill use. We did have a small patio with 2 chairs, a table and clothes hanger to dry bathing suits. It overlooked the employee walkway on the side of the building. This was fine for us as we wanted a quieter room. We ate at all of the restaurants. The main buffet is your breakfast option. This is a huge buffet with tons of options. We thought is was very good with a huge variety of food. The staff in the restaurants were great. They knew what we wanted to drink by the second day and kept our drinks full and plates cleared. For lunch there is the main buffet or a smaller beach front buffet- Flamingos. The main lunch buffet has a large variety of choices. The poolside Flamingos has a smaller variety and it was pretty much the same every day. It was fine for us as we had a large breakfast. For dinner the main buffet has a different theme every night and was very good. We ate at the asian restaurant the first night. We go there early so did not have to wait for a table. The food was alright and a buffet style with some Indian and a mix of asian food. We ate at Sir George the second night. This is the one with the dress code. Men and boys need to wear pants and have closed toe shoes. We thought the food was very good. We went early again and they were able to seat all 8 of us. The steak was delicious. We tried to go to Flamingos one night later than usual- around 7:30 and it was an hour wait. We decided to go to the buffet that night, which was very good. We went to Flamingos the next night when it opened and were seated right away. The food was alright. I had the sirloin steak which I liked. Some others had the ribeye, which they did not like as much. There are 2 pools- one with the slides, family pool, and one with the swim up bar, the activity pool. We went to the family pool every day by around 10 and were able to find at least 5 chairs together. The activity pool filled up sooner but if you were just looking for a couple of chairs you should be fine. You may not get poolside chairs but there are lots of loungers in shade and sun. There are also lots of loungers at the beach, which is very large. There were almost always some chairs available there. There is a bar at the activity pool and also one by the beach in the Flamingos restaurant that you can access from the beach. The bartenders did a great job and we never had to wait long. Some of the days there were waiters coming around taking drink orders and others there were none. The activity pool has the swim up bar but there are not children allowed at it or around it. The main square of the hotel is where they have a large bar and the evening entertainment takes place. There have a pre-show entertainment group- band or singer- and the main show at 9pm. We didn't watch the shows as the kids were usually ready for bed by then. One night they had a mechanical bull which anyone could ride. The kids really enjoyed that. The entertainment staff did a great job. Overall it was a nice hotel with good food and great staff. We always tip a few dollars at meals and to the bar staff. We also leave a few dollars for housekeeping each day. We never felt like tipping was expected but it was definitely appreciated by the staff. I think the bad reviews of this hotel are by people who expect a 5 star hotel at a 3 star price. We go exactly what we were expecting and were very happy with our stay.
Amazing place to stay
Staying in a 6th floor suite, the ocean view was spectacular. The room was enormous with plenty of storage space for everything you bring with you. The walk in wardrobe/dressing room has an iron and ironing board and the safe is tucked away in here. The mini bar (full sized fridge) in the hallway nestled underneath a shelf where the coffee machine and ice bucket sit with cups and glasses. The bathroom is almost integrated into the main area with the whirlpool bath accessible from either. The shower cubicle is massive with plenty of dry storage space for towels. Oh and the maid service is second to none. The pools are kept as clean as possible during the day. With a swim up bar in one and many children in the other this is a neverending job. Do not feed the iguanas, but let them if they let you. The buffet restaurant was the best of all 4 available. The food was great, with a different theme every night. If you don't want the theme of the day, there are more alternatives than you can count. Breakfast is served in the buffet restaurant and so many choices.... The staff are polite and helpful, especially Mariella in the restaurant. Birthdays were made very special by her. I know that the hotel is having renovations later this year, but I truly hope that keep the beautiful Art Deco features that make this place so spectacular.
