This is our 4th visit to Riu Vallarta - once before the renovation and 3 times after. Every year I look for other resorts in the same price category to try but I cannot find 1 that is rated as highly as the Riu Vallarta. We love the location but mostly it is the staff and quality of the food that bring us back. Every staff member we dealt with were very friendly & helpful & work very hard. The housekeeping staff are exceptional! They kept our room spotless and there was always 1 of them cleaning the public areas as well. What impressed me most were the bathrooms. They were super clean! The wait staff in the restaurants were very attentive. The bar staff are out of this world. They all worked with smiles on their faces & at a pace I couldn’t believe. We have stayed at a few other resorts but have found the food at this resort the best. The a la carte restaurants were all good and the buffet has lots of choices including lots of cooked vegetables and fish. I am fairly certain we will return to the Riu Vallarta!

Great Stay at the Riu Vallarta
I stayed at many different Riu's in Mexico, and I would rate this one one of the best that I stayed at. And that is only one man's opinion. Food was delicious at the buffets, and the à la carte were all nice and fresh. Lots of lounge chairs, so you didn't have to be outside at 6:00 a.m. putting your towels out. The only downfall I would say that this Resort had, would be the entertainment in the evening. Again this is only one man's opinion. Would I stay here again..... absolutely in a heartbeat. Thank you Riu Vallarta for an amazing one week's stay.

The hotel is very nice but there were some things we felt they could work on. They do not have enough public bathrooms. You have to walk a distance to find one or there are lines as well. One of the public bathrooms by the spa were clean to the eyes but it smelled very bad in the whole bathroom. The other issue was elevators. One of the elevators was out the whole time so there were lines of people to get in and out so it took time. The beds were fine and rooms clean. We did find one area that was questionable. We believe they just wiped out our used coffee cups and never replaced them with clean ones. :( They did a decent job trying to keep everything clean by the pools as well as the floors as they were slippery when wet. The beach was nice. As for the food...I guess you cannot ask for to grand of food when it is an all inclusive. The restaurant service was great but the food was not that good. Our whole party found it to be so so. In the buffet restaurant food not all marked correctly with signs. Sauces all put together and you had to guess what some were. Pastries were hard. Some food was cold when it should be hot. I can truly say those employees on the main floors and the pool work really hard to keep that hotel clean. I hope they are paid decent. We did tip some of the servers.

Riu Vallarta
My family and I had such a great time at this hotel!!! The buffet was amazing!!! Not the restaurants though. Love the rooms, which got revamped, and the cleanliness!!! I highly recommend this hotel!!!

RIU Vallarta - great resort for family vacations
Wonderful 2 weeks at RIU Vallarta. We are just finishing 2 weeks at the RIU Vallarta, we have not been here since it was remodeled a couple of years ago. We have been very impressed with the resort - the cleanliness of the public areas and the constant up keep by the staff. Our room had a king size bed and large walk in shower, double sinks and a fully stocked mini bar. Cleaning staff are awesome, nothing is missed, new towels and linens, plus a surprise animal everyday by the maid. The food is excellent, 4 restaurants and the main buffet. Never had a bad meal here anytime of the day. They have a bbq in the pool area for burgers and a daily feature (tacos, paella, etc). We met the incredible manager of food services Jovany Villalobos who welcomed us many nights into the various a’lacarte restaurants. He does a fantastic job delivering exceptional food services to his customers while supporting and encouraging his staff. It has been a great vacation and I would recommend it for couples and families looking for a great resort to relax, unwind, and have fun on the beach - something for everybody.
