Out of all the resorts I have stayed at this is one of the worst. The customer service was bad all around and the rooms are not as they describe them to be. Save your money and go to a different resort instead.

    Riu Santa Fe=Carnival Cruises

Let me first start by saying I would've rated the Riu at 2.5 stars, but can't do halves here, so I entered two as a caution. My family (wife, 7 y.o. daughter and I) stayed here 8/4-8/10/2019. Had I known what the place was about when we booked I wouldn't have brought my daughter here. If you know Carnival Cruises, you know what they're about--twenty-somethings and young thirty-somethings who want to drink, party, and don't care much about the details. That's what this hotel is like. Sure, there's a small kids' water park, a kids' version of the Riu pool party, and some other kid-friendly stuff. But it seemed like token amenities compared to the amount of young adult things going on. Let's start with the infinity pool by the ocean. If you think couples on top of each other is an appropriate thing for a kid to witness, by all means take your kids. Otherwise, it was downright embarrassing. The main pool was a little calmer, but the area by the swim-up bar had people behaving similarly to those in the infinity pool. Pools were fairly clean and unlike a lot of places there seemed to be enough lounge chairs for everyone regardless of the time of day. The food. We like good meals as much as anyone, but we're hardly food snobs. We've been to enough all-inclusives and on enough cruises to know what the deal is--generally you're looking at TGI Friday's-quality stuff. And that's okay. But most of the food here wasn't even that good. Taco stations for lunch were generally acceptable, but much of it was really unappetizing. Main buffet for breakfast was inconsistent too. Lots of cold food in chafing dishes. And once something runs out, it generally doesn't get replaced. The steakhouse was fair--but still not even to chain restaurant standards. Housekeeping--another problem. There's a coffee maker in the room. So reasonable to believe housekeeping would clean it and leave more coffee, right? Nope. Not once. Had to hunt people down to get more coffee and we ended up cleaning the pot ourselves. How about leaving soap and washcloths? Some days yes; others, no. But the night before we left they made sure to leave plenty of soap and washcloths--and a flower--after we complained. The gym. Equipment is old and scary, and in some cases downright dangerous. You can manage to get in a decent workout, but don't expect much cleanliness. We chose the Riu because we'd been at one of their properties in the Dominican Republic several years ago and believed the brand was quality. After this experience, we have to reassess our opinion.

    Poor Management

We stayed at the Riu Sante Fe from July 23rd to the 30th.We were very disappointed that two items were stolen from our room.We filed a report at the front desk and they told us they would contact us in 24 hours. After not be contacted in 24 hours we called the hotel and sent several emails and never got an answer. It has now been a week and we have not heard from the manager.I would not recommend this hotel to a friend.

    Family of 4

Spent 5 nights at Riu Santa Fe with kids, ages 7 & 10. The resort grounds are beautiful and the staff are always working. Unfortunately, this resort is huge and there aren’t enough staff. We arrived early in the day and our room was not ready. Their idea of holding luggage is to leave it sitting out in the lobby. No thank you. We spent our first 5 hours toting around 3 suitcases. Not a great start. The room: We were in villa 9 near the pool party and water park. The room was clean and felt new. The beds were tiny. The AC worked great and our mini bar was restocked for us everyday. We were especially thankful for replenished water bottles everyday. The pools and pool bars: There are several large pools. The bar tenders are completely overworked and just can’t keep up with the demand. There are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, but if you want one in the front row to be able to watch your kids, good luck. They are pretty much reserved from early on with towels and such and not even being used. But the biggest problem with the pool areas is the lack of restrooms. Considering how many people are in the pools (drinking!), there are not plentiful and convenient facilities. So, it’s pretty obvious how people are avoiding a long walk to the restroom... The food: Breakfast is okay. We typically got there before it was complete chaos. Lunch was awful, every single day. There are 2 buffet options. Both are so packed with wet people that it’s just disgusting. The food is barely warm and the utensils to serve yourself are sticky and gross. Dinner is significantly better. We ate at the Asian, Mexican and Italian restaurants. They were all clean and delicious. They in no way enforce a dress code. Don’t waste valuable luggage space bringing pants and dress shoes, like we did. Water park and kids club: Both are isolated in the back of the resort. They are a stickler for the rules and no drinks are served and you can’t bring drinks in. There is a self serve soda fountain the water park, but you have to be willing to encounter tons of bees to actually get a drink. The slides are really fun though! The kids enjoyed the kids club, but it was a lot smaller than other resorts we’ve been to. They don’t stick to the posted schedule and you have to fill out paperwork on each kids every time you check them in. The caregivers were fun and engaging! Taxis and Uber: We had a private transfer to and from the airport (All Ways Cabo, amazing and worth every penny!) We left the resort once for a snorkeling tour. It took us awhile to figure out the Uber situation. You have to walk a significant distance off the property to get in an Uber because the drivers are afraid/not allowed (?) to infringe on the taxi business. Uber is a quarter of the price and if the resort has anything to do with the situation, shame on them. Overall, this was not our best trip to Cabo. Beautiful resort with a hike anytime you want to go to your room or the bathroom!
