We had never been to Cabo and we were very excited ! The Santa Fe was awesome and exceeded our expectations ! We love the grounds and pools and especially the splash pad for the kids ! Awesome babysitting services too for us to go have some adult beverages at the ocean and swim up bar ! We will be back very soon !
Upon arrival, the resort was beautiful. However, the minute you go to check in, the resorts true colors shine through. The front desk staff was awful and more specifically the front desk supervisor. He was completely rude to us when we questioned him about our reservation. He went so far to tell us that we could leave. I’ve never experienced the disrespect at an establishment that I paid money for. The food was ok. The rooms were spacious but the beds are very hard.
Have the Right Expectations
This is an absolutely adequate hotel with something for everyone. This is NOT a 5-star resort and doesn't try to be; instead, it focuses on providing a good time to the masses. And the Riu Santa Fe succeeds at that. We were a group of 11 adults and had a wonderful time. The buffets had some of the best Mexican food I've ever tasted and the variety was big. Seriously, if you can't find something to eat here that pleases you, you're a VERY picky person. Alcohol was just fine. Be sure to ask for a brand name, otherwise you get a house brand. Pools were lovely and we spotted workers using a scrub brush at the waterline to remove sunscreen residue. This is a very humid place. Everything in the room always felt a bit damp, and the air conditioning struggled to keep up at times. Keeping the curtains closed during the day helps. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner and body lotion. Sunscreen is available in the shops but is very expensive. Make sure to bring enough. Know that there is a LOT of walking involved at this resort. If you're in Building 7 by the pool, it's a good half-mile walk to the main entrance. Building 7 is the only building with an elevator. Overall this is a fun, inexpensive resort. The music is loud and virtually non-stop. Bring earplugs just in case. It's loud late into the night.
Do Not Stay Here!
Upon arrival they were not accommodating in placing our two rooms near each other. We were in building 8 while our friends were in building 3. Ridiculous. We asked for 3 keys instead of two and the front desk guy caught an attitude and said that they usually only give one as if he was doing us a favor! The alcohol is cheap and we did not touch the alcohol in our room due to not trusting it. Our room was hot and maintenance came to check it only to not resolve the issue. Our friends room was awful. They had a standard room with stains on their sheets, mirror and lamps. The room was totally outdated and dirty. There were bugs EVERYWHERE and the handle to their patio door came off. All issues were reported and nothing could be done. They offered to move them on their THIRD day and that was it. I'd read previous reviews about theft and was prepared with a lock for my suitcase with my valuables. We did not experience theft. Our room was only cleaned one day out of 4 days. Unacceptable. Our checkout experience was the worst. The manager accused us of damaging property and charged us $80 for a bedsheet!! They will charge you for any lost keys or towel cards. Be prepared to keep up with them. The manager was so rude and unprofessional at the checkout counter when we asked to speak with him. He did not care about the issues we had and could care less about our experience. Cabo is great outside of the resort. Riu Palace next door is a much better place to stay versus Sante Fe!! Do Not Stay Here! The food was also terrible and made us sick. The taco stand at night is the only thing going at this place, otherwise, eat outside of the resort. I have never been treated so terribly by a hotel in all of my life. Do not do it.
This resort is suitable for 18 to 30 Years old (Techno - Rap music all day)!
RECEPTION: We didn't have what we ask for, we ask for two beds. When we arrived at the reception, they were only one bed available for our room, and they couldn't find anything else. We had to change the next day. One of the young men was rude i wasn't impressed with is arrogance. I travel a, and it is the first time this happens — lousy organization at the reception. BEACH & POOL: The pool was clean and the Jardin well maintaining, beach clean but it's Los Cabos (big sand) hard to walk, and you can't swim because the waves and currents are too strong. We already know that before reserving. HOTEL & FOOD: The hotel, in general, is spotless and it is surprising that many young people who are partying all day at the hotel. Food was good; there is plenty of choices. ROOM: If you want a quiet room, ask for a room away from the pool party. Room was clean, and the fridge was full every day. WHAT SHOULD BE CHANGE: The music is way too loud during the day by the sea. A variety of music would be great, rock, Latino, salsa, country. Listening to Rap and Techno all day is terrible. Extra coffee stand for the morning, in the middle and one by the sea. GENERAL VIEW: I will not return because it is too noisy and too much young people. You feel like you are in Daytona Beach at spring break. A LA CARTE: Chinese restaurant, was tasty food and a variety of choice, we did love it. And we had excellent service. Thank you to Edwardo for your great sense of humor and excellent services.
