Great place for friends
Stayed last year and regretted not posting anything on here. Perfect place to go with your friends although if you wanted something more romantic or subtle maybe try the RIU next door or go elsewhere. Also wouldn't recommend if you love to swim in the ocean. Food - great! had no issues. Service - loved that nobody bothered you much, but when you did ask for something you got it Beach - was beautiful but sadly I enjoy swimming in the ocean and could not swim all week due to strong currents and waves (i wouldn't recommend trying either as both friends lost their Ray Bans) Marina - was beautiful. nice area to walk around in and lots of places to eat! Mango Deck - fun time!! food was excellent and showed current sports games. very much a party vibe Rooms - clean although lots of construction going on outside when we were there Overall i enjoyed my time!
Milestone Birthday and Thanksgiving Celebration
We stayed here because we were celebrating my mother in law’s milestone birthday and Thanksgiving. Some of our family stayed here before and recommended this resort. We visit Cabo regularly and even had our destination wedding in San Jose del Cabo. This was our first time at a Riu property. The property itself is huge which explains the lack of quality in key aspects - food and service. The food is churned out for the masses of people who stay here so quality is not high on the list, especially during breakfast where you see food that’s been sitting out being mixed in with newly made food. A member of our family got food poisoning from the fruit she ate during breakfast. The service also leaves a lot to be desired, especially during breakfast where cooking staff at the Torote Steakhouse can be rude and refuse to make eye contact when they sense you requesting something of them. The best part of our stay was the views from our room and the infinity pool as well as the great service from the Torote Steakhouse management Alejandra, the capitan Juan, and staff during our family birthday and thanksgiving celebration. We also liked the outdoor plaza setting and the quality of the shows. The rooms at the resort are very outdated and feel cavernous. The shower tub combination was dark and we nearly slipped trying to get in and out because of the height of the tub. The towels are a dreary brown color. Overall, we would not return to this resort as the negatives outweighed the positives during our stay.
Beautiful and fun hotel
We were saying in this hotel for 1week and we had great fun at the pool parties. Hotel grounds are very beautiful and neat. Our room was spacious with comfortable king size bed. Hotel staff working hard to make sure everyone taken care off. We get caught by tropical storm one day with non stop rain and hotel staff cleaned all the time to make sure hotel look spotless. I have readed so many bad reviews about this place but after came and experienced yself i was glad to choose this hotel for my trip :)
Great hotel if you want to party!
5 of us girls went for a birthday week and it was fantastic! The food was just okay but the activities and entertainment was great! Themed foam parties 4 times a week was so much fun. 2 were afternoon parties and 2 were 8pm parties. The staff everywhere in the resort were so great! We especially loved our pool bartender Nazar that went out of his way for us every day!!! Rooms were clean and well taken care of. Would def go back!!
Mixed feelings about the resort
Definately a resort for anyone that wants a party atmosphere! Girls week away and they initially put us in rooms with 1 bed... when we tried to change it up we didn’t all end up together but close enough so still acceptable. I found the workers friendly but few seemed to be enjoying their job. HUGE shout out to NAZAR... he was the sunshine around the pool!!! They only had one pool bar open so without Nazar, getting a drink would have been frustrating to say the least. Clean, well stocked rooms but needed extra pillows as they were so small with very little filling. Food was average but the a la carte restaurants were disappointing & the service in the buffets was nonexistent. If you want a decent coffee in the morning you have to go to the sports bar! Overall decent place but not my first choice.
