Bachelorette/ Girls trip
I just came back from Riu! I visited with 2 other friends, and celebrating one of the girls bachelorette party. We got there super late (1AM) check in was quick, we got there super hungry and headed to the 24 hours sports bar, it was definitely disgusting. I’m Not sure how people eat that, looks like food from 4 days ago. We got to the room and there was only 1 blanket for the 3 of us. I called front desk and they told me they were going to bring it right up! It took them 4 hours to bring the blankets! We were freezing!!!!! I called 4 more times and keep getting the “ we are on the way” definitely a bad start to our trip since we traveled all day and wanted to sleep. We finally got our blankets at 5AM!!!!! The food is okay! The service was great! Honestly, if it was because of the service we got I don’t even think I would have given the resort a 3 star. I just say, this resort is definitely not 5 star in my opinion! No 24 hours took service? Come on!!! The guys at the front desk (Edwin and I forgot the others guy name) they were suuuuuuper nice! Our flight back was super late and they provided late check out for us. The jungle and pink party are a must! We had a lot of fun! I do feel they need to have more on site parties at the pools. Overall, it was an okay resort, service is excellent, food and snack bar needs improvement. Definitely not 5 star.
Beautiful and relaxing
The resort was beautiful and relaxing-exactly what i was looking for. The room was clean and spacious. My key card stopped working 3 times in the 6 days which resulted in having to visit guest services multiple times (not convenient), but otherwise a great stay! The resort is large so there is never a crowded feeling. One of the best parts about the size is you don’t have to wake up at sunrise to reserve a chair as there was always one available at any time of day. The food is the same all week long at all restaurants so as long as you visit a different one each night there is plenty of variety. If you want the buffet, you’ll be eating the same thing all week, but it was always hot and well prepared. The bartenders and waiters are fast and very pleasant! The beach is lovely and the ocean great for body surfing! There isn’t much to do at the resort other than sun, swim drink and the evening show, but i was there to relax so it stirred me just fine. I would definitely stay again!
Punta Cana 2020
Our trip was Feb 2 to Feb 9, 2020. The airport in Punta Cana is less than 20 minutes from the resort.it is the cleanest airport I have been to. Check in was quick and smooth. We wanted 2 rooms next to one another on 2nd floor or higher. They didnt have 2nd floor the first day but we were able to switch the next day without issue. Very accommodating. Ask for a room closest to the beach as the resort is quite large. Remember to bring a refillable drink mug to keep your drinks cold. Dont forget a reusable straw as they do not have straws on the resort. The food and drinks were excellent. They will make anything you want and are not shy adding the alcohol. Plenty of beach chairs on the beach. The water is crystal clear and the beach is amazing!!! The sun is very hot so bring plenty of sunblock. Our favorite restaurant was the steakhouse. The ribs are amazing. The buffet has a great selection for all meals. Food is hot and fresh. The nightly shows are entertaining. The party goes on all night so bring your party shoes!:) The resort is extremely clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We always bring along $100.00 in singles for tipping and tip various workers throughout my vacation and they are extremely thankful for every penny. The resort has very safe feeling at all hours of the day. No bugs or creepy crawly things. The pools are a ton of fun. Don't forget to slide across the marble tables by the swim up bars. This was our second trip to Punta Cana. It was the nicest beach we have ever been to. No need for water shoes as the sand extends out as far as you can touch without sea creatures to step on. We absolutely would return to this resort.
My husband and I booked this trip for my “milestone” birthday and we had a great time. Not sure if it’s really a 5 star resort but we found a great deal and decided to give it a try. This is our 8th trip to Punta Cana and we always stay at a different resort each time to have a different experience. The grounds were well kept and we found the staff to be very friendly. We are beach people and spent each day in our favorite spot and had no trouble getting chairs no matter what time we got to the beach. We stayed at the left side of the beach if you are facing the ocean because we read ahead of time there’s a beach bar and a bathroom nearby. Wandy was our favorite bartender from the beach bar and he was happy to fill up our drinks and he taught us some Spanish each day! I drank mostly champagne but definitely try an Iceberg (Presidente beer with frozen lime margarita on top). Food was good...we ate at the buffet most nights but did try the Steakhouse one evening and it was nice to be waited on and our steaks were good. I guess my only complaint was we never really knew what was going on each day as the board in the lobby didn’t seem to match what was really happening at that time. The beach party was fun but we didn’t really care for the nightly shows as we had seen most of them before. We have stayed at both the Riu Bambi and Riu Macao. Got to meet the famous Riu cat, Cheddar and bought some jewelry from Willy Wonka on the beach. Like has been said many times before, it’s a big resort and you can party or relax in one of the quieter areas. We would return if the price was right! P.S. The pillows really are terrible...called for additional pillows several times and asked housekeeping for some too but never got any but wasn’t a huge deal for us.
