Great people, great food, a lot of fun
The resort was all around great. This is my third time to a Riu resort and they have all been great. The workers at the resort were great, everything was kept clean. Good balance between quiet relaxation and lively entertainment/pool parties etc. we had two nights where we were woken by drunk people yelling in the halls which went on for about 15 minutes before security took care of it but that would be the one and only negative that I can think of for our whole stay.

Week at the Riu
Just spent a week at the Riu Reggae, and it was really good. The good stuff- resort is clean and well laid out. Everything is close, so you never need to walk far. Our room was great - everything worked as it should, and housekeeping was fantastic. We requested extra pillows and a blanket thru the Riu app, and it was responded to promptly. We did request a quiet room so you don't get much of a view, but that's ok! Lots of the rooms face the pool, which may impede some quiet time. Good food - big selection and always fresh. We ate at the Italian restaurant twice and the Fusion restaurant once. Both were great - I liked that we did not need to dress super fancy for either. As gluten sensitive, there were lots of options available. No gluten-free pasta or bread, but the selection of everything else was great, so really, you don't miss it. Wines were good and a decent drink selection. Lattes and coffee were really good- especially in the lobby bar. We ventured to the Riu Montego Bay a few times and partook the waterslides, which were fantastic. It's a super close walk. We also went to the neon party at the Riu Montego Bay. It's very loud but fun. Beach is small. It was very windy the week we were here so the water was quite choppy. I am confident that if there was no wind, the water would be beautiful. Always lots of chairs by the beach and pool. There is no need to "reserve." It is frowned upon, but there is the odd person that does it anyway. Entertainment was ok. I feel the resort could improve the sound system. I don't mind loud, but when it's really loud and distorted sound, it isn't enjoyable. Entertainment was decent, and the resort staff worked really hard to put on the shows. The karaoke night was short. Would like to have more singers as it was a lot of fun and the audience was having fun singing along. The silent disco was great, too. There were a few nights when there was a ruckus in the hallway in the wee hours of the morning. Quiet time is 11pm. However, there were some loud guests who obviously had too much to drink. Not the resorts fault. However, those folks should receive a warning. They were slamming doors and yelled, and it happened a few times. After the guest left, our hallway was nice and quiet at night. If you want a quiet resort this wouldn't be the place. It is active all day ( which is good if that is your preference) Overall, we had a good stay, friendly staff, and they accommodated us well when our flight was delayed and we wanted our room longer.

BOOK IT!!!!
Where do i even begin? I am so glad i didn't let the negative reviews influence my decision. I spent days researching and reading reviews and i finally decided on Riu Reggae. When i tell you a time was had!!!!!!!! Check in was smoothe. The front desk staff and Bell Men were extremely helpful. The variety of food on the buffet line was pure perfection and NOTHING was a miss. I looked forward to breakfast. THe jerk chicken on the beach was very disappointing. Fix that please. The room was very clean and up to date. ENTERTAINMENT WAS ON POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want a fun stay, then you will not be disappointed. The all white party was the icing on the cake. I danced, sang, shout, danced danced and danced. I have video and pics of this memory to last a lifetime. I want to experience it again so i will definitely be back. Shout out to Brittania, Jevon, Chef Steve, Prince, Rodgeroy, Claudia. There were so many more that made my birthday trip one i will never forget. Riu Reggae.... YOU HAVE MY HEART.

Jamaica in January - Riu Reggae
Lets start with the Cons..... Sleep was the biggest, whether it was the mattress or time difference or lack of an additional blanket it was probably the only real negative, maintaining the right temp through the night with the fan/air con proved a challenge. Close proximity to the airport, meant there was some noise during the afternoons/evenings mainly but tbh it wasn't that big an issue and when you're enjoying the vibe around the pool or entertainment it really didn't bother you. Pro's... Lovely hotel, clean well kept, excellent staff wherever we interacted, polite, friendly, smiling and always a hello/morning etc Food was excellent, the buffet style restaurant provided literally something for everyone, you could even have liver or curry for breakfast it seemed.... it might not be everyone's idea of fine dining but the food was fresh, available to order your own at certain stations and plentiful (as the weight gain proved!!) The other "A le carte" restaurants where you had to book were equally nice, the Italian, Asian, Steakhouse and one we didn't get to (partner wasn't into fish :( ) I'd say that while they offer a different level of service, its not hugely different in the quality from the buffet in that all of them are tasty! The best we found was the steakhouse, managed that twice. The hotels entertainment Team are one of the best I've ever witnessed and they work so hard, not just during the day providing the games and entertainment around the pool for evyrone but the shows during the week, the disco's (Riu Montego Bay) they don't stop. I can't remember all of them but Teddy, Flex and Spade 45 & the rest are definitely bringing the vibe to the place. Not just the energy but their skills and dance moves are mental! What I'd say to anyone is get involved and relax, have fun, I got collared for a couple of pool games.... and yes a couple of cocktails helps but you're there for the vibe and fun so take part and don't worry! ;) And don't forget the bar staff, never without a smile and again they're there all day and night every day. Hats off to them they don't stop either. All in all a great place with great people from the front desk to the pool cleaners. Yes we'd go back, Jamaica is beautiful but there is poverty with it.
