Not a bad hotel overall but steak house is not good
The steak house is my only complaint. Worst service, we went there twice at 8.30 and couldn’t get in even tough the restaurant is open until 9. The night we managed to get in at 6.30 when they opened for dinner we had to wait 20 min for the wine and over an hour for our dinner . Overall the hotel is good though
I would not visit again, but stay was okay
We found our experience at the Riu a bit disappointing. We have stayed at several Riu’s in the past, including in Panama City and Mexico and have always enjoyed our experience, but the customer service at this resort was the worse I have ever had. The restaurant staff barely spoke to you and at the lunch buffet I was never offered a glass of wine which they have set aside because they are suppose to serve it to you. The other drinks are available inside at the buffet. Basically if you need something you better go get it yourself. Myself and another man were standing at the pool bar waiting to order a drink. It was about 1010am and there were people moving around behind the bar. We waited politely for about 10 minutes before we finally made eye contact and I asked for a drink and then he said, sorry we don’t open until 1030am. It was so rude that he never bothered to tell us sooner. The hotel is nice from a distance but as we got to our room, you could tell how old and dated the room was. Our beds were 2 small full/doubles, so small that my 3 year old and 5 year old wouldn’t be able to sleep together. When we went down to talk with the staff, they suggested they could push the 2 beds together and put a cover on it so it would be like a large bed and then add a cot to the room. We said that would be great. When we returned to our room, someone has literally come in, shoved the 2 beds together and put a sheet over the bed so there was still a noticeable gap in the middle. The cot was thown in the room and nothing was put together properly. My husband had to return to the lobby, while we kept my 2 kids up late until someone showed up to put it together properly. On another note though the pools and kids slide pool were nice. At the end of the day I personally would not return to this resort. There are so many amazing places in panama to stay that I would prefer other choices
Very disappointing experience !
We have been traveling for over 10 years and this was a disappointing experience ! From far away the property looks fine, however the reality is not so great! There are stains on the room walls, some of the floor tiles were chipped, the bathroom mirror was rusted at edges, the furniture was beaten up! Very upset, we asked the Front Desk to give us another room and we received one that was somewhat better, but some items were missing: the clock/radio, the refreshments in the fridge, the curtain ...There is no Pillow Menu available , like others offered by Riu Resorts ...Very disappointing! The FOOD: Not good ! At the restaurant on the beach , flies were all over the place and it was really hot to have lunch outside! No other options were available for a couple of days! The rest of the restaurants are very crowded with people coming from all Latin America, very noisy and the waiters seemed to be just overwhelmed. Quality of service was very poor! We ended up eating at the Buffet most of the time! The STAFF: Very distant and not helpful! Be prepared to know some Spanish because most of them do not speak or understand English! They do not show any willingness to serve you or clean the tables … Overall, very , very disappointing …we will never go back again!
This is a very nice get away for us!
We have been to many resorts and this one fits our needs nicely. We live 1 hr from the Riu and have been there multiple times. We are planning to go again in September and October. This is a 3 3/4 resort. We look for great deal and when we get there we feel like we have left the country. Food and entertainment are acceptable. The grounds are very nice with multiple pools to fit your needs. Blessings, Richard DreamsWithCBD.com
Hotel Riu Playa Blanca
Panama - Playa Blanca - Provincia de Coclé Stayed from the week of Feb. 2019 Family trip group of six, ages from 20 to 55. Booking with Sunwing – Requested Ocean view rooms (5) Room, upon arrival were very pleased with rooms. Highlights Located on Playa Blanca beach, free sun loungers on beach Main and theme restaurants Main buffet was good better than average. Smooth bar always a nice touch – Breakfast each day Al a carts unlimited Italian restaurant(main course with table service; buffet starters and dessert) – the best al a cart on site Asian restaurant (buffet) – al a cart style my second favourite on site Grill and steakhouse (buffet, reservations not required) Four swimming pools and children's pool Rooms well-appointed with free Wi-Fi which worked well throughout the entire Riu complex, beach included. Grounds very nice well-kept you can tell they care about the look of the resort as long as you are looking inwards, the grounds along the roadway leading into the resorts from the main RIU gate were not as well kept. All staff were excellent from desk staff to serviers, no complaints at all. Special mention to the animation team, the whole team was great and worked hard from 10 AM until well after 10PM to make our stay and everyone else’s special. Special note, we travelled from Canada (SUNWING) therefore we used the Airport ten minutes from the resort, Rio Hato Airport. Overall a fantastic family trip, I would recommend this resort to my friends travelling to Panama.
