Amazing Resort - First time at a Riu Property
We usually go to the Iberostar resorts and have been at over 20 Iberostars in different countries! We decided to try another chain this time. When we got off of the bus, we were greeted with a rum drink and given a paper to sign. We lined up and within 15 minutes we were in our Ocean Front room. The quickest registration ever and we had a full bus load for this resort. The resort was immaculate and well organized. Staff shifted to other jobs to fill in when the Lobby Bar or Sports Bar became busy. The staff in the green shirts seemed to be special and appeared where needed. Our orientation the next morning by George was excellent and we were offered a drink, with or without rum! It was informative and short! Of course everyone was off to the pools or beach. One thing I really liked, you didn't have to spend your first day lining up to book dinners to the speciality restaurants!!!! You just went to the Speciality restaurant that you wanted to try and you were led to your table. When the seats were gone, you were given a device to call you when there was a table available! There were 3 speciality restaurants as well as the buffet which was always excellent. We loved the Sports Bar where we had the best Cappuccino ever prepared by Emelydis. Always smiling and very efficient. When she saw us she started preparing our coffee! The Lobby Bar was especially wonderful. It was a meeting place, full of laughter and fun times. Edison and Sarait were fantastic! Extremely friendly, hard working and always teasing each other. Very special people! The staff throughout the resort were friendly, hard working and eager to please. We were very impressed! I managed to speak with one of the managers to tell him how impressed we were with everything at the resort. Extremely organinzed, immaculate, friendly staff and amazing food. We plan to return next January and have encouraged our friends and family to go to this Riu property as well.
The Hotel is huge and well kept. We had an ocean front room which was great.Staffs are very friendly and welcoming. The food was really good and they had different themes every night at the buffet. I was also very impressed with the great quality of customer service that we experienced. My husband's suitcase was left in Toronto, they offered laundry service and did not charge us. Luisanna, one of the managers was super helpful and went above and beyond to help us with a 50th birthday party we were trying to host. She checked in on my husband and I during our stay due to the fact that his luggage did not arrive even though It was not the hotel's fault. Uzziel, one of the waiters was also exceptional. He brought us drinks all day at the beach, he was always in a good mood and happy to serve us. Overall our experience was awesome, we had a good time at the hotel and we will definitely be going back and recommending it to the rest of our family and friends.
This place was great, good food, great service. Weather was super. Elisabeth at the pool bar took great care of us Canadian making great Caesars with real Clamato. We would go back in a heartbeat. Beautiful country.
I was just at the Riu Playa Blanca, and while we had a nice time overall, we did have some issues. The food was not great, but no big deal. The main issue was that security did not appropriately address some issues we had with the people in the room next door. My husband and I were in one room, and my mom was in a room two doors down, so there was one room in between. The couple in that room frequently smoked in their room, which caused our rooms to smell like cigarettes and marijuana. They also played loud music in the middle of the night. The part that was most disturbing, however, was that they returned to their room late one night and the man beat his girlfriend for 3 hours. It was loud and sounded awful. I would hear a loud crash or slapping sounds followed by her screaming. The first time I called the front desk, they said they would send security, but no one came. The second time I called I said to please hurry because it sounded like she was being hurt quite badly. Security did come, but all they did was tell them to quiet down. They were fighting again within minutes. At this point, their fighting had moved into the hallway, creating a potentially dangerously situation for other guests. Again, security came and just told them to quiet down. We heard the woman tell security that her boyfriend was hitting her, and they did nothing. After that, the front desk would no longer answer my calls. I found out in the morning that my mom had also repeatedly called for security. The fact that this couple was not removed from the resort at this point was a bit frightening. Since my family had both of the rooms next to this couple, it was surely obvious that we were the ones who reported them. It really seemed as though by taking no action, the resort was prioritizing this violent addict over the comfort and safety of other guests.
My sister and I traveled to Hotel Riu Playa Blanca. We loved the property and the accommodations. Although we were there during the height of the holiday season, there were more than enough lounge chairs at the pool and it did not feel overwhelmingly crowded. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The only issue we had was for the specialty restaurants; it was not clearly communicated how to properly reserve a spot for that evening.
