My husband and I went to this resort on November 29, 2019 for I week. The resort was lovely, the people were so friendly especially our waitress, Natherine in the buffet restaurant. She was truly a lovely person. I was ill for about 24 hours and did not show up for meals with my husband and she was genuinely concerned and gave me a great big hug when I returned. The weather was glorious as were the beach and the ocean. We tried all the restaurants and the food was good in all. The buffet was great too. The only thing that I was disappointed in, was the jerk chicken at the jerk hut on the beach. We get really good jerk chicken from Sunrise restaurant in Toronto, and the chicken at the jerk hut was just kind of bland. The bus ride to the hotel even though it was a bit long, was not too bad. They had Red Stripe beer on the bus that you could purchase and check in was a breeze. We loved our room too. The entertainment was fairly good. One night in particular was really good, they had a steel band orchestra, called Silver Wings and they were excellent. I highly recommend this resort.
Treated like VIP :)
Just returned back from Riu Palace after 5 beautiful days and the post-vacation blues are SERIOUS. Of all the resorts I have been to, this has been the most beautiful and welcoming resort. A helpful note: we tipped often although not every time. Tipping is up to your discretion but the staff workers are very grateful for tips. I'll start with the good: The hotel shuttle transportation they offer for a small fee is SOO worth it. The drive took about 2 hours (we stopped at a nice bar on the water for a bathroom break). Upon arrival the property looked very clean and we were welcomed with a rum punch. Checkin was a breeze and we stayed in room 4305. The room was SOO spacious and was cleaned everyday. We loved that the in-room bar had beer but also four different types of liquor for your choosing. The food: by far the BEST all inclusive buffet food I have ever had. We landed on Thursday night which happened to be lobster night. Soo good. The options for breakfast lunch and dinner were amazing and they always had some type of speciality dish going on in the buffet. Also, shoutout to Mr. T who was our waiter at the buffet who made us feel like absolute royalty. Even had rose petals waiting at our table. We also tried the steakhouse which was so good. I got a lobster tail with a steak and it was delicious. Every server truly took care of us and made sure our needs were met. We didn't try any of the other specialty menus as the food options didn't look inviting (my boyfriend is picky) The beach: GORGEOUS WHITE SAND AND WARM CLEAR WATER. Seriously we would be at the beach from 9am until sundown some days. There are bartenders that cater to you while on the beach but we found just going to the bar ourselves was quicker. The Jerk Hut is a MUST. There are vendors on the beach and while some people thought they were pushy, my boyfriend and I loved chatting with them and getting to know people from the island. We did a few excursions through the vendors on the beach and found that we could normally reason with them to get a good price. i HIGHLY recommend going to Booby Point, you can pick out your own lobster and have a nice man cook it right there for you. Bars/Entertainment: I loved the bars and the bartenders were so fun! Special shoutout to Demar who always had the party going and making us the best drinks and shots. The nightly shows were definitly fun to watch and i loved the live bands they had at night. The pool bar was also very lively and we loved the jumbo jenga Now on to the bad: First, after about 11pm the resort goes QUIET. The bars shut down and there is no place to get alcoholic drinks. You can go to the 24 hour lounge but all that is offered is beer. i would HIGHLYYYYY suggest there be some form of late night bar/club for those of us who like to engage in nightlife. Also, the 24 hour room service and the 24 hour lounge needs WAY better food. For all of the other restaurants having amazing food, we were really let down to see the options for food after 11pm. Lastly, I wish there was more day time activities on the beach. It seemed like there was a lot at the three pools but not too many at the beach. Overally, this was the most amazing place. The hotel staff were amazing, we loved the profressional photographers around the resort and we made so many friendly connections with the people there. I would suggest this resort 10000 times over as they truly do take care of you and treat you like VIP. Thank you Riu Palace for the most amazing 5 days. We WILL be back!
5 Star Amazing Hotel
Just got back from our 2 week stay at the RIU Tropical Bay and I can hands down say this is such an amazing resort. Everything is clean and well kept, the staff are amazing, very friendly and helpful. The buffet dinner is superb. The best food I've had at a buffet with a huge variety of choices including Jamaican cuisine, italian, lots of meat options, fish, salads and loads of dessert, with different options daily. There are multiple cooking stations so you can see chefs cooking in front of you. There is a great Jerk hut on the beach which is included for lunchtimes. The beach is beautiful and a stone's throw away from your room. Evening entertainment is great and the entertainment team are very funny and welcoming. 3 huge swimming pools and games on the beach. There is a kiosk by the pools to get beach towels from in exchange for a towel card that you will receive when you arrive - so no need to pack one. There is also a taxi service at the front desk of the hotel for when you want to venture out into Negril, so make sure to take advantage as the drivers are so lovely and will give you great tips on best places to go/eat. This was our 2nd resort holiday and I can honestly say that RIU Tropical Bay ticks all the boxes and we will definitely be returning. Our only tiny drawback was that the beds could be improved - mattresses are a bit hard and pillows not that great BUT having said that I would still return.
Love RIU Tropical Bay
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at RIU Tropical Bay. Wonderful staff and accommodations. I would give 5 stars if the restaurant food was more than ok. Also, there was a mix up upon check in. We were given someone else’s room which was a garden room. We went back to desk and were given oxen front which was fantastic! Can’t wait to go back!
This was our 3rd visit and it won't be our last. This is a 5 star hotel in everyway, from cleaning staff to management. Everyone is so attentive, caring and happy. The rooms are emaculate, the food and drink is great, pools clean, beach and sea amazing. I can't rate this hotel highly enough and look forward to going back again.
