Lovely location. Lots of greenery that is extremely well maintained. Food and bar service was exceptional. Everything in the room worked as it should. Only small issue was that our room was close to a designated smoking area, and the smoke always drifted toward our balcomy. We'll certainly go there again..

Highly recommend
Very Clean property - something I always put at the top of my priorities! Great and frequent service for drinks with water being served non-stop at the beach. I’ve been to places in the area where the food was a bit better, but the food here didn’t disappoint with good options and no need for prior reservation days before (something annoying from other hotels), allowing to decide what you want to eat last minute. There you can find peace and quiet and you can also party in the other properties - it has a good balance. Highly family oriented with guests behaving well. Beach is awesome and pool very clean, and very easy to move from one to the other.

Spring vacation
Absolutely fantastic resort! Great location with beautiful beaches and aquarium clear water. The grounds at this resort are immaculate and the staff do an amazing job. The food is great with plenty to choose from. Short wait for specialty restaurants and no reservations were required which is a bonus.

Hotel is lovely after renovation. Do not go if you want to relax. Animation team are just so loud, loud and louder during the day. For no apparent reason they have to have a microphone and huge speakers so that they can be heard in every area without any regard for those that do not wish to be disturbed or participate. This is not our first visit but will sadly be the last to this hotel.

Experience of a Lifetime in Playa del Carmen
We stayed at the Riu Place Riviera Maya during Spring Break, and it exceeded all our expectations. The service was amazing, food was excellent, the activities/pools/beach were outstanding, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the customer focus was clear everywhere. We enjoyed swimming, the evening music (including the Queen show!), superior meal service (we only did the buffets, but there were also other sit-down options), responsive staff, and relaxing in the sun. We were a family of four with two teenagers and were there with extended family members (11 total) and it was the trip of a lifetime!
