My wife and I visit the RIU Palace Riviera Maya every year. The service is unmatched. We see similar faces in the staff year after year & there is truly nothing bad to say about this resort. The beach is beautiful, the food is amazing, the rooms are updated & always clean.

The resort s very nice. Rooms are spacious and clean. They have plenty of restaurants to choose from and you don’t require reservations. The food was good but I wouldn’t say great, but I am also a foodie. It’s had to please my palate. The one thing that I didn’t like was chair hogging by the pool. Service throughout was excellent.

XL Birthday Trip
The exterior of the hotel is beautiful. The pools were in good condition & you walk right out from the pool onto the beach. The beach had some seaweed but was still beautiful. The staff was always working on removing it. There were some vendors that walked along the beach, but they do not harass you. The decor inside the lobby & restaurants is dated & hodge podge but it is clean & well maintained. The staff was accommodating but nothing above and beyond. Staff at the breakfast buffet were attentive & friendliest of all. Service at the swim up bar could be slow at times, as it seems there was only 1 bartender making drinks for the bar. Brenda at the pool bar & Alex at the front desk were the standouts for us. Every night there seemed to be some sort of performance going on at our resort & or the sister resorts. We enjoyed the performances in the courtyard. As a childless couple in our 40's we did not enjoy the neon party. It was all ages (infant to 80) & very busy. We had one drink left & walked down the way to a patio bar with live music & dancing. The resort is gated so it felt very safe. It is about a 15-minute walk from town. The restaurants were okay at best; however, all the buffets were great & had many delicious options. We didn't mind bc we planned to eat off site a few times. All-inclusive was still worth it for buffets & drinks. TIPS: -Bring your own Insulated tumbler & the bartenders will put your drinks in this. Perfect to keep cool & take down to the beach. -If you want a pool chair you must go down early and put a towel down to save it. We did not have that problem with any of the beach chairs. -Ask for a courtyard or ocean front room (anywhere away from lobby). We had a junior suite, close to the lobby on the third floor & this was the longest walk to the pools & beach. Our view was of the tennis court on the roof top next to us. -Money exchange in lobby. -Pharmacia located right down the ramp. -Bring an owl statue to scare away the dive-bombing birds at breakfast, they were out of control.

Wonderful Week's Vacation!
This is the third year we have returned to the RIU Palace, and we were not disappointed. This resort continues to maintain the highest standards of excellence in every respect. From the quality of the food, the beauty and cleanliness of the property, the comfort of the rooms, to the unbelievably warm and sincerely gracious staff - we have always enjoyed a wonderful week of entertainment and relaxation. This year was no exception and we will definitely return. The staff of this resort make us feel like we are visiting friends and the fact that we see the same wonderful people year after year speaks volumes about the culture of the resort. We look forward to our annual visit to this magical destination.
