RIU Palace Worth The Trip
I was very impressed with this hotel and the service. Very friendly staff, very clean hotel, the drinks as well as the food was awesome. The best was their steakhouse, they served salmon and lobster tails. This trip was amazing and I will be returning to this resort. Thank you all for a awesome trip!!
Please read in full. From an experienced AI traveler
I have been to almost 20 AI resorts. Here it is in 3 parts: 1. UNFORTUNATE incident- a family members got very sick one night d/t food she ate & d/t to being so sick & dehydrated she fell early morning on way from BR. Of note, floor tiles are slightly slick d/t condensation. She broke 2 front teeth & cut lip & nose. When not oriented to where & why she was there, we got concerned, called desk for a MD. We called down 2x! MD told to go to a local "private" hospital. Got CT scan/XR/med/fluids. We were scared/worried, there all day & incurred $7,000 bill. Unsure if it will be reimbursed. 2. TREATMENT by MGMT -I have NEVER experienced the atrocity that MGMT considers "hospitality". They were rude, unapologetic, expressed massive disdain for my family. NO ONE came to check on us at time of fall, NO ONE willingly talked to us to discuss how they could make the rest of our trip less stressful/comfortable. The hotel manager avoided us at all costs! (name starts w/ C)We were told multiple times "sorry its your fault"& "too bad". Were told w/ impassive attitude, to "email customer service". The worse treatment I have ever experienced. PS don't eat the ceviche. 3. REST of the staff-I wound have given them a 1 star except I can't do a review without informing you of the wonderful staff that served us each & every day: servers, indoor & outdoor staff, housekeeping & MD. *You will likely see some kind of GENERIC response below this review. Please, RIU, don't embarrass yourself any more.
Only to recommend, we will definitely be back!!! The hotel was just beautiful, exactly as pictured online. Food superb, service exceptional and the entertainment great. Since there are enough pools to cool off in it never feels overcrowded.
Great overall experience. From Valet to Lobby reception to Room cleanliness, all was exellent. Food was always fresh with plenty of choices. With 5 pools, there was plenty of space for everyone.Room was beautiful with modern design. The balcony view was spectacular and the grounds were kept gorgeous. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There were multiple daily activities by the pool to keep you entertained all day.Danny,a member of the entertaining staff, was upbeat and full of energy. We wished the nightly shows were a little bit earlier than 9:45. Overall a fantastic experience.
Excellent -- but if you drink alcohol at all, read caveats
I went with my husband and 2 teen boys in mid August. We wanted to just lay on the beach, in an all inclusive so that our boys could wander within the huge resort without us worrying, and have all day food options (because...teenage boys!!) RPP totally satisfied all that. The beach was great, no fighting over quasi-reserved chairs. We have seen all the local and area sights before, so we didn't do that BUT they offer many excursions. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. The food options were pretty amazing, and catered to many tastes. Treat people with respect, and service will be EXCELLENT. The bad news: If you drink anything alcoholic other than canned or bottled beer, you will not be happy. All I wanted was a decent margarita while on vacation. It was undrinkable because of the acrid mix, plus, it had no discernible alcohol whatsoever. It was so awful I din't bother trying again elsewhere in the resort. A $5 tip up front for one drink still got me a very watered down cocktail. Tried red wine from the pool bar. I should have known when the bartender shook the bottle first, who does that? When he poured it, the thinness was obvious! It was so watered down, ick. At dinnertime, we asked and got an unopened bottle. They have alcohol bottles in the rooms but I didn't try them. I shouldn't have to go back to my room to get a decent drink, though. All that said, would I go back? In a heartbeat, but unopened bottles only! If imbibing is a big part of your vacation, think twice.
