So We went to this hotel in 2016. We enjoyed it very much. Lots of beach chairs, restaurants we ok, lobby smelled like sewers but the room was gorgeous & very clean. Renovated too. The staff were so nice & helpful. We had a huge room facing the ocean on the 6th floor. The beach was beautiful!!best part about this hotel is that it is just a walk away from the Atlantis. Such a lively compound. There is the casino, lots and lots of restaurants (good too) all sorts of activities in the day or night. You can swim with dolphins or go on the slides or simply just stroll around the resort. It was definitely cheaper to stay at the riu with the gorgeous room and have the amenities next door. We will definitely go back to that hotel in the very near future.
Renos are Great!
I’ve been to the Riu 3 times now, and this was my first since they’ve renovated. I must say, the renovations make this place MUCH better, and the adults only is nice too. Food-still great. We only went to the buffet; no a la cartes. Jerk chicken by the pool was outstanding! Be sure to try it. Do NOT leave your plate unattended outside; the birds will be there within seconds. Rooms-nice to see the carpet gone. We were on the 15th floor again, and luckily it wasn’t too busy. Only one elevator goes to the 15th, so in high season I would stay on lower floor. One day we had no water at all for about ten minutes. Not sure what that was all about. The lower also went out during dinner one night. Luckily it was back on within a few minutes. Lobby-much nicer and fresher. The cafe is wonderful with coffee, milkshakes, desserts, and sandwiches. The furniture is also very comfortable and modern. Pools-2 pools now instead of 1 is much better. The infinity pool is lovely, but small. There were a lot of large groups (bridal parties, etc.) so the infinity pool got a bit cloudy late in the afternoon. The larger pool has loungers in the pool and is less busy. There are lots of canopies for shade around the pool when lounging. I LOVE listening to music, but as others have mentioned, the music at the pool needs to be turned down a bit. The bartenders couldn’t hear people ordering drinks, even when leaning forward. Beach-still stunning BUT new umbrellas are needed. **Riu management needs to spend the money as many umbrellas are broken. If you do your research, and realize you are heading to more of a hotel rather than a resort, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re looking for somewhere with lush grounds to walk around, this is not the place for you. We like this place because of the great flight times with Sunwing, arriving in Nassau at 9:30 am from Toronto. We were on the beach before noon, and didn’t fly out until 9 pm 3 days later. It’s a quick flight from T.O., close to the airport, has a beautiful beach and great food. The Atlantis is also just next door for some nightly activities. We will definitely be returning again.
Don’t waste your money he
One of the worse experience I have ever had. If you are considering to go to Bahamas to never stay in Riu Palace. First of all the elevators are barely working, if you are on 15 floor good luck taking the stairs. The Ar conditioners also not working, we call several times to the receptionist and she said that it works after 4:30pm. All the customers were very upset and complaining about the service provided but there was no solution to the issue. Very poor quality of food. I’ve never been so disappointed. DO NOT STAY IN THIS PLACE
Great place to stay
This is a great place to stay very warm and friendly staff. The restaurants are great options for dining. The rooms were clean. The gym was in good order except I think towels could have been made available
Great adults-only hotel/resort
Visited Riu Palace in March 2019 with girlfriends. As others have mentioned, rather than call this a resort, I’d say it’s more of an all-inclusive hotel. Situated beside the Atlantis complex on Paradise Island, you will arrive in Nassau and then transfer from airport approximately 35 minutes by bus or taxi. The Riu is a renovated high rise hotel with gorgeous decor, lobby, restaurants and pools. The infinity pool is spectacular. Beach is clean but small. Sand is well maintained and very deep and white. I travelled during high season and the hotel was fully booked, however it was never a problem to get a chair by either the pools or the beach. Pools can get very loud with lots of activities through the day. The entertainment crew is enthusiastic. Though this is an adults only resort, the games were pretty tame, as was the nightlife in the theatre/disco. That was perfect for me and my friends but others may expect more. Paradise Island has many other off-site restaurants and activities, including a short walk next door to Atlantis for those looking for more excitement. Drinks are excellent and I didn’t find them watered down at all. The selection was excellent and we didn’t need to use the included in-room drink dispensers. In-room fridges were well stocked. Room service was good but on the slow side. Selection for room service menu was basic but adequate. A suggestion would be to include bottles of wine on the room service menu. A la carte restaurants are not able to be booked in advance, causing patrons to need to line up. This is ridiculous. I’d suggest the Riu institute a desk for visitors to pre-book their a la carte reservations as many other all inclusive do, worldwide. The Indian restaurant was excellent and did not have a line up. The steak house was also good, but the line was started 1.5 hours prior to the first dinner service (6:30 pm). The buffet had excellent selection at all times during the day. Service was attentive and quick. There is an amazing little snack/coffee shop in the lobby- highly recommend you try their sandwiches and pastries! Cappuccinos here were also outstandingly good. Rooms were beautiful and recently renovated. Spacious with an amazing bathroom. Balconies all point towards beach/ocean view but rooms nearer to the front of hotel have the best views. Rooms were always cleaned spotlessly and towels were replenished without issue. Robes are provided for use. Rooms all have mini fridges stocked with soda, beer (Heineken) and water. Elevators were quick. Air conditioning was excellent, if not a bit on the cold side. Winds are strong on this coast so swimming in ocean is sometimes not an option. Snorkeling wasn’t possible either during my stay. The beach is very walkable and gorgeous. Note that cruise ship excursions come in on Wednesdays and drop many other tourists off right beside Riu beach. Not a huge deal but makes for a lot of noise and beach vendors. As this hotel is on the end of Cabbage Beach, it is a fairly busy beach with lots of visitors. It’s a beautiful place. I’d definitely return here. Hotel was high quality and had a relaxed vibe. Caters to a bit more mature crowd, didn’t find this was a college-aged or party scene at all. Travel kindly! A+
