Excellent hotel & stay
Just returned from 10 nights at the hotel, and had a superb holiday, hotel, staff, and facilities are the best, full 5 star status. The beach is a heaven, and rooms of a very high standard. Great food selection, and variety of restaurants, will return next year, well impressed with all at the Riu Palace Las America's
Beautiful Property, watch out for the spiked drinks at the swim up bar.
Beautiful hotel, the staff was always helpful and the place was kept sparkling clean. The food was very good and well prepared. Loved the Japanese, buffet, Italian and the Black and White steakhouse. The service for drinks at the beach and in the bars was excellent. The only problem we had was at the swim up bar at the pool. Drinks(beer) came fast and without ordering. I was given spiked beer with Tequila in them after my first few beers. I asked for bottled beer and when not looking was given spiked beer. I learned the next day from a new friend from Australia that she saw one of the bartenders add booze to beer and hand it off to me and others. If they think it is funny to ruin a vacation by making a patron sick and pass out, they need to be dealt with immediately! This happened Thursday August 8th, 2019. I lost a day and a half of my vacation due to this practice. So fair warning to anyone going to this or any other all inclusive resort, watch what you are being served, ask to have the bottle of beer or wine to be opened in front of you, and do not drink from the open bottles in your room.
Second time... coming back for the third!
My sister and I visited last December for a quick sisters getaway, it was our second trip to this Riu and it was like coming home! Beautiful views from the second you walk in, check in a breeze and we received a free upgrade to a wrap around balcony room. Things we love: the location, the service, the views, the food, free room service, and easy access to the Riu next door. It is an easy and safe walk to nearby shops. We are coming back this year and sharing our special place with our husbands this year... looking forward to another great visit. Riu never lets us down!
This was our second time visiting this fabulous location, and by far the best one yet, nothing but a great things, will definitely comeback and enjoy ourselves once again, till then C’Ya save me a nice spot on that gorgeous beach.
What a shame!!
We were so excited to be visiting this place after hearing raved reviews. Check in is where it went downhill. We came here to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I booked a package which indicated we would get a balcony ocean view suite. When we checked in we were told we had to pay to "upgrade" The manager was called over and told us we have to pay almost $300 more. We did just because we were tired and did not want to ruin our getaway. We also asked for late checkout again (after emailing them several times) and were promised they would handle it. We get to our room and the smell of mildew was so strong. We packed damprid, kept the ac and fan on at all times and still had so much moisture that we did daily splits slipping all over the floors. Three damp rids were filled in a week!! We tried to make the best of it and enjoy the pools, beaches and restaruants. The food was great and the service from all the servers was amazing. We tipped very very well. Abu at the bar was funny and quick. All the staff (aside from the front desk) were amazing. They accommodated my dietary issues with no problems whatsoever. We enjoyed the quiet pool because it wasn't filled with rowdy young people who drank all day and never left the pool to use the restroom. While hanging near the infinity pool we noticed alot of drug dealing activiy near the beach and on property. They came right up to the pools which was a bit unnerving. They also allow smoking everywhere. People were smoking at the buffet, in the pools, corriders etc. It was disgusting. The pools also close at 6:30PM!! We have never been to any resort where the pool closes so early. This was the dealbreaker for us for sure!! The shows were amazing but nothing else to do other than that. The beach is small but kept very clean. There was always someone cleaning everywhere we went. The 24 lounge was convieneint for bottle water but smelled so bad. I don't know how anyone would eat the garbage in there. The coffee place was great and had excellent service. We chose this place because it was adults only but there were many many drunk young people. We were awoken several nights to people screaming, yelling, blasting music up/down the halls/slamming doors etc. There was also vomit all over the beach. The day of checkout we asked for a 2 hour later checkout and was told they could do it-just come to the front desk. We go to the front desk and they say it will be $50 for late checkout!! I almost lost it at this point. We love to travel and have been repeat customers at a bunch of places. This place will not be one of them!!
