Our Review and Experience So Far at the RIU Palace Arrival and Check-in Experience • Online check-in saves time; the entire process at the front desk takes about 5 minutes. • We are greeted with a refreshing drink, which is a nice touch. • The initial impression of the property is friendly but sparse. Rooms/Accommodations • The room is clean, but there is a horrible smell upon entering (it has yet to go away, even with the patio door open), which is very unpleasant. • The beds are very uncomfortable; two beds pushed together are not ideal for a couple. • The washroom design is awkward, and the toilet area lacks a fan, making it uncomfortable in certain situations. • The balcony seating is uncomfortable and consists of foldable patio chairs that do not encourage enjoying the view. • There is no screen on the patio door, making it hard to leave the door open for fresh air or to enjoy the ocean sounds at night. • Wi-Fi is spotty, some basic toiletries (e.g., nail clippers, file) are missing (must buy from the gift shop for $4), and the minibar is basic with no extras. • The resort is very noisy overall as everything is in one congested area at the front of the resort, comparable to being in West Edmonton Mall, with no quiet areas except the room. • On a positive note, the resort’s upkeep is impeccable, and nothing seems out of place. Facilities and Amenities • The pools are as advertised, but they are basic and lack shade. Umbrellas offer little relief as they are transparent, and finding available seating is nearly impossible. • Approximately 3/4 of the seating has armrests, making some areas inaccessible for individuals who cannot fit comfortably in the chairs. • Entertainment around the activity pool is enjoyable, but quieter relaxation options are missing. • The beach is beyond expectation—absolutely stunning and a highlight of the trip. Food and Dining • The food experience is disappointing. While advertised as à la carte, it is essentially an exaggerated buffet. Guests serve themselves, and menu items are often taken directly from the buffet. • In one dining area, we don’t even receive our food. • The dining atmosphere is chaotic, resembling a mall courtyard, with noise from screaming children and casual attire. It lacks the elegance and ambiance expected for evening meals. • The lack of top-shelf liquor options (e.g., Grey Goose, Captain Morgan, Malibu) is disappointing and diminishes the bar experience. Customer Service • The staff is exceptional, with attentiveness deserving a 9/10 rating. Cleanliness and Maintenance • The property is beautifully maintained, but seating is only available in crowded areas. There are no quiet garden spots to relax or enjoy private time. • Washroom hygiene is impeccable, even during busy evening hours. Value for Money • Compared to similar resorts like TRS, this property does not meet expectations for the price point or the way it is marketed. Activities and Entertainment • Activities and events are not clearly posted, and with spotty internet, it is challenging to stay informed about what is happening. Special Highlights or Issues • The lack of quiet spaces and seating options throughout the property significantly impacts our ability to relax and enjoy the environment. • The unpleasant smell in the room upon entering also leaves a negative impression. • The stunning beach stands out as a major positive of the trip. Overall Impression and Recommendation • While we’re glad we came, this trip is helping us identify what we do and don’t enjoy in a resort. • We’ve come to realize that adults-only resorts are a must for us, as well as à la carte restaurants in the evening and designated relaxation areas away from the noise and crowds. • The resort’s strengths lie in its cleanliness, exceptional staff, and incredible beach, but the dining, noise levels, room smell, lack of top-shelf liquor, and limited relaxing spaces—along with the lack of inclusive seating options—make it less enjoyable for us.

Vacation paradise
Staying here with other 6 cousins from 11/16-11/23 in RIU Palace Costa Mujeres is wanderful resort ,the food is excellent and the drinks is top shelf.Employees were friendly and always give you the best filling you are in the Palace ,a 5 stars ranking resort. Last September I’m staying in Riu Dubai with my wife for 9 nights and Riu Palace Costa Mujeres perfect match Riu Dubai. Shuki D.

Great Resort with Great Staff
We had an excellent experience at RIU Palace Costa Mujeres during our 14 night stay in November 2024. The resort, food, room, and service was outstanding. We also can't say enough good things about the PR Manager, Ms. Luna, who was exceptional!

The RIU Costa Mujeres is generally good overall if you’re looking for a reasonably priced family getaway in a quiet part of the Cancún area. The staff were very warm and welcoming and deserve a lot of credit. The grounds were very clean and well kept and the rooms were a pleasant surprise. Only knocks would be the overall quality of food and drinks were just ok - mass produced for quick service and large crowds. You won’t go hungry here but you won’t be blown away either. And hotel location is quiet and away from the hustle of Cancun but you feel a bit stuck if you want to go out and explore one day. Forced to grab an expensive cab or rent a car. Again overall wonderful kind staff and lovely property, but food and drinks just ok and good for families for a reasonably priced getaway. If you’re looking for a higher end experience maybe check out adult only resorts nearby.
