Apr 18, 2025Been to Cancun 10+ times, this was one of the worst experiences
This was one of the worst resorts I stayed in. Let me break down why: Food (1/5 stars) The food at the restaurants was inedible. As in, we couldn't get past a few bites. The wait for the food was also extremely long (30+ mins). This is surprising given their limited menu. Lunch options are limited to a BBQ or the buffet. This essentially means that you are stuck eating at the buffet 3 times a day. The buffet has lots of vegetarian options but they repeat day after day, meal after meal. Service (2/5 stars) Other than the bartenders and maids, everyone else at the resort were difficult to work with. The service at the restaurants was abysmal. The front desk gave us a hard time ensuring my group had hotel rooms near each other. The servers at the restaurant visibly looked miserable and didn't do their job. People sat themselves and did self-service to get around this. Pools (5/5) This was the redeeming portion of the resort. The pools are heated and there are numerous ones across the property making them not crowded. The slides are also nice. Entertainment (3/5) The poolside entertainment was great. I enjoyed the pop-up entertainment across the resort as well. The night time shows really lacked talent and creativity. Kid's Club (1/5) The club itself has nothing in it. The activities are lame. Not worth it. Beach (3/5) The beach is rock free but the waves are rough! Location (1/5) This place is far and it took us 2 hours to get from the airport to the resort. There was nothing to do outside of the resort unless you were willing to take a long taxi ride. The biggest concern I have for this resort is LACK OF SAFETY. There was a shooting during our stay. The hotel's lack of courtesy and response to this was unacceptable. I will be sticking to the hotel zone going forward.

Beautiful resort that was clean and immaculate. Staff was amazing and very accommodating. Food was probably some of the best I have ever had at an all inclusive in Mexico and I have been down there more than 60 times. Keep it up Riu Palace Costa Mujeres.

General overview
Overall, very clean and professional resort. The beach was very nice. All the staff were very friendly and on point. Housekeeping was great. The Japanese and Italian restaurants were my favorite. The layout of the resort was very convenient. And the shows were amazing. The best bartender, hands down, was Andrey! The guy was very friendly and remembered us after our first night. He was mostly at the bar next to the entertainment stage. We will be coming back to this place for sure.

Fantastic Stay
The resort is beautiful, The food is fantastic and the beach is incredible. I would definitely recommend staying here. The staff is so friendly and welcoming.

Definitely Recommend
The Riu Palace was a wonderful all-inclusive resort for our family holiday. Great facilities and loads of fun for all. We enjoyed everything from the water slides, pools, food, evening entertainment and beautiful white sand beaches.
