My husband and I went for the first time from June 8 to 13, 2019 to celebrate 17 years together. I must say we had an incredible time!! The weather, food, staff, room, entertainment, pools and views were beyond amazing. The beach unfortunately we weren't able to go in because of the waves and undercurrent, but we did walk along side. We had access to the Santa Fe and Baja and were able to check them out. Staff, servers, and cleaning staff were so amazing and friendly. Room was always spotless and mini bar stocked. Servers were really friendly and very welcoming. Front desk staff were extremely polite and professional. Food and drinks were amazing! Absolutely no complaints there. Pools and pool bars were clean and the music they played there made you want to have a great time.
Girls Trip June 2019 we stayed at the RUI Palace Cabo San Lucas and it was beyond amazing. The Resort itself is amazing from the exterior to the interior. The staff was friendly and the food was great the overall hospitality was an awesome experience. The staff went up and beyond to make sure everyone stay was an excellent experience. The view from the pools and beach was breathtaking. A stay at this resort will not disappoint. The Steak House is a must visit at this Resort. The Staff was amazing and the food was amazing it was beyond my expectations. I will definitely recommend this Resort if your looking for an unforgettable time and amazing experience.
Great Resort! Very Modern and Hip
I loved this resort. It was right across the Pacific Ocean, from the El Arco (The Arch). The service was superior and the facilities were very clean, modern and hip. We stayed at the Adults only all inclusive, with 24 hour room service. The Restaurants were very classy and the food was top notch high end, with a plethora of seafood, meats, and something for every diet imaginable. The Entertainment around the resort was great, loud music and lots of activities, mini concerts and shows. What I loved about this resort was that itâs right on the beach and you can basically just walk into the towns from the beach. The town is a hike from the resort, about a 45 minute walk, but itâs worth it, as there were plenty of restaurants to stop and get something to eat or massage joints. We took a boat to the El Archo which is about a 10 minute ride from the hotel. On this little island you will see, sea lions and dolphins and various fauna. The views are breathtaking with mountains springing up from the ocean, miles and miles of beaches and the entertainment of the city of San Lucas, Cabo. Would definitely visit again :)
Everything you need to know!
4.25 out of 5 This is the 3rd RIU property I've stayed at and it's by far the best one to date. I've stayed previously at the RIU Palace Bavaro Beach (also fantastic) in the Dominican Republic and the RIU Negril (average at best) in Jamaica. I continue to go with RIU because I know what I'm getting. I want a hotel chain that’s not in the news headlines and restocks the mini bar. This was my 6th all-inclusive to Mexico but the 1st to Cabo. If this is also your first time in Cabo, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! For those of you worldly travelers: Cabo is like San Diego feel meets Las Vegas partying/topography. Cabo is very clean, smells good, new builds, great local people and nothing like Cancun/gulf side. I traveled as a couple (30yo) during the first week of June 2019. The weather was unusually cold (Lows in the high 60's F and Highs in the high 70's F). Also Cabo can get pretty windy. I booked my vacation through Vacation Express for 7 days/6 nights. They make it easy to travel with for one price and give you a point of contact. I've also used Apple Vacations in the past; it's the same experience. Just go for the lower price. Our flight was through Viva Aerobus. 1 Free carry on bag and they didn’t weigh it. Also carried a backpack as my personal item. Pro Tip 1): If you don’t bring checked bags your life going and coming home will be much smoother. You will never have to wait for your bag/worry about the airliner losing it. We went right through customs while everyone else was waiting for their bags and beat the entire crowd. Even the Home Land Security representative gave us props for this move, just saying. Pro Tip 2): fill out your Mexico immigration card online and print it off before you go so you don’t have to do any paperwork on the plane. Don’t be the person who didn’t bring a pen and have to ask someone to use theirs! Cliff notes about the hotel: 1) The waves in the ocean are massive. They tell you that you can’t swim in the ocean outside of the resort. If you want to swim in the ocean, they won’t stop you. Be warned you better be on you’re “A game” or you will get destroyed. 2) Beautiful beaches with vendors pushed back a decent ways from the resort. What ever you are looking for (or not looking for) the beach vendors have. Get it? 3) A ton of stairs. The floors/stairs are mostly granite within the resort. If you can't do stairs or have a fear of smashing your face you shouldn’t come to this resort. 4) “Family resort” didn’t see many children though. 5) Mixed drinks were average (aperol spritz, G&T, rum&coke, marg’s, pina colada) I drank mostly champagne. 6) Wal-Mart, Costco across the street if you forgot anything. 6) Website claims the pool is heated. IT IS NOT! The pool water is freezing. Coldest pool water I've ever been in at a resort. I reviewed each RIU property before choosing RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas. I also visited each property during my stay. I will go into that later. Check-in 5/5: Was easy with little wait time to talk to a rep. Bartenders instantly hit you with a margarita during check-in, which I respect. Rooms are available at 3PM. Since we arrived earlier the front desk representative took our bags and securely placed them into the back room. This allowed us to freely explore the resort, eat lunch, and go for a swim before our room was ready! The resort is massive. At 3PM we got our room. Room was #2011, which they considered a garden view, but I was looking at the ocean so I couldn't complain (see photo)! Rooms have a safe in the closet and we secured everything of value in it as the hotel recommends. Restaurants 4/5: I consider myself a gourmet; if it’s tight I’ve munched it. We ate at the buffet each morning. The buffet has everything you can ask for. If your European they have your cold cuts/cheeses/yogurts if you’re from the USA they have bacon/sausage/hash browns/cereal, if you Canadian no poutine, sorry. If you’re a vegan they have 15 different types of smoothie blends and cactus throughout the landscaping at the resort. You can eat Mexican food for every meal as well. They also had an omelet bar, egg bar (with eggs benedict). We tried all of the restaurants except the Indian restaurant (Bombay). All of them were great. If you are expecting to eat lobster go somewhere else. They didn't have any lobster even though it was on the menu. They did though have massive blue prawns in the place of Lobster so I was cool with it (El Medano). I felt the best the restaurant was Krystal’s. They have an awesome filet mignon and make it rain champagne. Ask for Armando as your waiter, he’s the man! Misaki (Japanese restaurant) has sake, make sure you ask for it. I would eat at San Jose for lunch each time. Baller views and they have the best lunch food out of all your choices. Other RIU hotels which you can visit or you may want to stay at. RIU Sante Fe 3/5: PARTY HOTEL and not clean. If you like to party and get wild this one is for you. We went to 3 out of the 4 pool parties. They do a White, Pink, Neon and Jungle Party. These parties are LIT! Champagne bottle guns, balloon’s, DJ’s, foam parties and twerking. Will you see people so drunk they will have to be wheeled out in a wheel chair? Yes! Will girls dance on top of the pool bars and get kicked out? Yes! Will people light up J’s in the pool and security try to take it from them? Yes! If I in my teen’s/college I’d stay here. If that’s not you, I’d recommend a Palace. RIU Palace Baja California 4/5: Brand new hotel and much smaller than RIU Cabo San Lucas. Adults only and very clean. This hotel had less food options. Classy place but it just didn’t have enough action for me personally. Looked boring in my opinion. But if that’s what you like, do you. Other things to do in Cabo 5/5: Water taxi to lover’s beach/divorce beach/el arco. Walk down the beach towards the marina and you will no doubt be asked by beach vendors to do anything you want. I walked down the beach to scope out/swim (calmer waters/only need a B game) before making any decisions. I talked to about 10 or so vendors before making my decision who to do business with for water activities. I went with a company called Rice and Beans that I met on the beach. Fun name and even funnier logo. An amigo named Michin owns the company. For $14pp they drop you off and pick you up from anywhere you want at a time you tell them on a private boat. After we were done swimming on lovers beach the captain showed us el arco. You have companies try to charge you $35pp to do this trip. Don’t get Gringo! After the trip we rented a wave runner for $50 for a ½ hour to rip through the ocean through Beans and Rice. There isn’t a timer so they will come find you when your time is up; if they remember you are out there. They did not remember we were out there; we were out there for easily an hour. They are chill and let you do your own thing. Did I find lower prices? Yes. Remember cheap isn’t good and good isn’t cheap. You are in their country and there’s a strong chance your health insurance is no good there so be smart and go with quality. If they don’t have a business card at least, move on. We also did a camel ride/tequila testing/lunch/desert plant learning secession through Nexus at the hotel 5/5. For $108PP it’s half-day trip and was great time. Ask for Ted to be your guide. He is hilarious and a great guy! He had everyone in our group and all the other groups laughing. He will teach you how to drink different styles of tequila and how to spot fakes. You will ride the camel for around 25 minutes on the beach. Tip: Bring a GoPro and take your own pictures. Taxi to downtown is a 15-minute ride 5/5. $14 each way. This is where you will want to go to get your souvenirs, fishing, restaurants, bars and partying. There is a lot to see and do downtown so get off the resort and get some!! Hope this was helpful! All opinions are my own!
My husband and I came for a quick Birthday weekend and the weather was perfect the Hotel was clean and luxurious for sure! We got a couples massage on the beach it was nice but loud next time we will book early in the morning instead. The food starts to get old after the third day but the cocktails were yummy. We paid for an ocean view but it was obstructed by a building and trees next time I’ll make sure to get what I paid for before settling. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall good trip we will be back!
