    Brilliant Hotel !!!

Me and my girlfriend spent 2 weeks at this hotel in Punta Cana please see below... Positive feedback... •Pool bar service was incredible we met a guy called Frank and his service was very good he was working very hard in the 30 degree heat and deserves a promotion. • Hotel is very clean and the cleaners are constantly working throughout the hotel. • There is a great variety of good & drinks, plenty of bars. • The private beach is beautiful. Negatives... • be very careful when you are on the beach, I recommend you DO NOT get a photo of the PARROT or MONKEY. You will get CONNED out of $60 for a stupid photo we and others we met got caught out so be carful and say NO THANK YOU. I would give this hotel 5 stars plus as it really is a beaut.

    Fantastic Wedding and Holiday

We booked the Palace Bavaro for our wedding in September 2019. We had a party of 17, some elderly and 7 teenagers. We had an amazing time , the hotel was spotless and the facilities were good for all ages. The staff were excellent especially the reception staff who went out of their way to assist us with our requests. The rooms were spacious and really couldn't be faulted. The food was amazing and there was something for every taste. We had our wedding there and it really was a perfect day, Onaney the wedding coordinator was fantastic. I couldn't recommend the hotel more and the beach wedding was decorated beautifully and was breathtaking. We used the onsite photographers Antillanafoto and I was really impressed with the service and the photos taken. I also used the Renova Spa for hair , considering they didn't speak much English and I didn't speak Spanish they managed to do exactly what I asked and the end result was better than I could have imagined. Thank you Riu Palace Bavaro for a perfect stay .

If you dont speak Spanish or understand Spanish your stump as for the rooms there are pretty basic for a 5 star hotel. Food is mundane and repetitive. I booked a ground floor room and got a 3 floor room which we got changed in the end after seeing our rep. Ive stayed in a 5 star riu palace in Jamaica and your treated like royalty much better class of hotel . Will never return to Dominica republic.

    Palace or not

On this our first visit to the Dominican Republic were not quite sure what to expect but we're told as had done two riu palaces in Mexico would be much on the same par. When arriving in punta cana we had arranged for a taxi transfer which was pretty straight forward going out the airport an finding another tui rep who found our taxi who had a name board an away we went no messing 90k tail gating an using one of two phones constantly what a relief to arrive at hotel. Check in _ was easily done as usual staff very pleasant and greated with a cocktail? Very refreshing after such a long trip to be told we were on the second floor which ended up above the restaurant, ROOM _ which was second floor above restaurant on entering the room all we could smell was the drains stopping in this room think not? Told bell boy who immediately got on the phone an said won't be long he went to get new keys to room 3090 which was other side and on the third floor another good walk an room not quite done no petals around sinks no bits on door for please clean room just little no water in fridge table on balcony but soon sorted with bell boy what a diamond. DINNING ROOM _ we mainly used the main restaurant all the first week as didn't fancy what was on at other restaurants food was good and usually plentiful and mostly well cooked if we saw was raw we tended to leave alone as had heard about some getting I'll but it never affected us we were both OK on the second week they decided to use the steak house for midday meal not telling anyone just letting you find out which way every midday meal for second week not impressed with choice of food or really by the service, BARS/CAFE _used both near reception cocktail s they seem to dissappear out the back to make them does seem strange not to have a piano in the main bar an have someone playing early evening using the cafe side found one day he decided to leave us sat there while serving young ladies an most other people not really what I'd expect from a riu palace an once bought this to there attention never really happened again but could feel an atmosphere there. staff_ in an around the hotel were pretty friendly an glad to help the real only difference we noticed was no waiters by the pool bar or on the beach? This was a first for a riu?. Entertainment _ seemed hit n miss Michael Jackson show seems to be a riu thing an Mexico still got the edge on it entertainment a miss am afraid. OVERALL SERVICE _ we've had better an did not expect to have to call late on to have to get room done think best service was probably the bell boys an restaurant staff at breakfast an night time HOTEL SHOP OUT DOOR SHOPS _ the only one in the hotel think was called divers was expensive an decided to give a miss the rest of the shops were quient but couldn't get what souvenirs we wanted. TRIPS _ tiu trip as usual were well overpriced Including coco bongels at $120 each pretty expensive an better getting else where only place we really went was $5 bus ride away think was called Don Juan where we got most of ours. CIGARETTES suggest you get from either the UK or as you land in Dominican as paid $10 for a pack in the hotel. OVERALL impression is nice hotel not a lot to do but sunbathe. An use pool bar an the seaweed was cleared nearly every day so no complaints there as there was very clearly little to get cab or bus to if wanted day out of there ad trips were expensive to do. So to the last few questions is the bavaro a palace? Well it probably meets there criteria for one. Would we use again?? Mmm difficult as we going back to palace pacifico next year so eill put on back burner but must admit maybe unlikely. Bring on riu club buena vista in tenerife next.

    High hopes

CHECK IN and RECEPTION I have stayed in other hotels who are 5* rated and always treated to a welcome drink whilst checking in but not here... also asked reception for some extra coffee and after 2 days got bored of waiting ROOM and BUILDING Our room was lovely, we had a room over looking the pool area and we could see the sea. Only thing was the small little ants but we just made sure things were kept clean. The lack of maid service we went 2 days without our room cleaned near the end of the holiday and also the drinks being replenished every 2 days didnt happen so we had to go to reception to ask for more water and coffee- got the water ok but not the coffee and so gave up hope until we saw the man who did the drinks bit for our block. The room cleanliness was ok on the surface but the base protector sheet could do with a clean! The general cleanliness of the block looked good on the surface but we noticed a cup on the fire extinguisher which wasn't moved for the whole 2 weeks we were their. I know I'm sounding picky but would have expected better with a 5* POOL We upgraded to the VIP area and enjoyed the service we got from the pool bar staff as well as the lifeguard and the staff looked after us very well. Only thing to note is that we got speaking to a lot of people who ended up with ear infections. Also the pool could do with a clean rather than just whatever chemicals are used. POOLPARTY We went to one in the day and one at night both was surprisingly good and was lovely to see a variety of ages!! NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT Very hit and miss. Some nights better than others and ok if you like dancing GARDEN and BEACH Well maintained and kept clean the staff work very hard RESTAURANTS Main one there was plenty of choice Steakhouse was good but be mindful of how you like your steak cooked as mine came a bit too rare but they did cook it for longer for me so they are very accommodating Italian was delicious. Lamb chops to die for! My only grumble was that on one of the nights it should have been open there was a private function but no thought about opening any of the other restaurants. Japanese my personal opinion was it wasn't good as I found it all very salty. We didnt try any others. Not sure if it's due to the time of year but the specialist ones arent open every night Coffee shop is good especially liked the coffee Jamaica and milkshakes. SHOP Is very expensive dont use it go to the duty free shop near the splash pool if you need cigarettes
