Been here 5hours and ready to leave. five star not by a long shot 🤯 Shower ! Had heavier rain fall, everything since we arrived has fallen short of RIU palace standards. Food, drinks, room all shoddy, not a happy bunny, worked hard for this!

Not 5 Star Riu Palace Quality

This was our 5th visit to this hotel and unfortunately the overall quality has been allowed to slip, the room are tired the food quality has slipped dramatically with poor choice and cold food in the buffet restaurant, if you require a robe for your room or need the optics refreshed you need to contact reception. We have been going to Riu Palace Hotels for many years and know the level of quality and service we would normally expect, this is no longer a 5 star Palace Hotel although it is set in beautiful surroundings,

Very outdated hotel, needs major updates. Group of almost 30 people would not stay here again.

Where do I start. We just got back from a week long stay along with a large group of family and friends (almost 30 people). We booked through a travel agent who highly recommended this hotel. We all stayed at this hotel because my husband and I were getting married in Punta Cana that week but thankfully not at this resort. Our travel agent informed us that we will be receiving an upgrade to the VIP, adults only section since we are bringing such a large room and getting married. Upon arrival on 11/7/19 we were told that “we did not pay for an upgrade” so we will not be upgraded. The guy at the reception was so rude (young, tall, slim) as was his supposed manager (I believe his name was Roberto). After waiting for 30 min, then arguing with us, me contacting the travel agent to find out who granted the upgrade we were stuck in a building on the 3rd level, garden view, no elevator, moldy smell, water damage on walls, and very outdated. After the rest of our guests checked in, mostly the following day, we found out that we received the worst room ! Appearance wise as well as all the other buildings had elevators. Our room looked identically to everyone else’s except for it being very damaged. Our room number was 5021. Our guests complained as well. Tv remotes missing in the rooms, doors not locking, facet handle broken, and bad smell in the room (mold, sewer). We have stayed in numerous all inclusive resorts and the service we received at this reception was by far the worst. Most hotels and resorts provide an upgrade for free. We brought this resorts so many people and they stuck us in the worst room! Overall the whole resort needs to be renovated. They have several restaurants, most were closed on any given night. They also have a cafe in lobby that opens up at 10am. I do not know who came up with this idea but a coffee place should be open first thing in the morning for people wanting to grab a coffee. The best two restaurants was the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant. The food at the buffet was good with the exception of it lacking selection and one of our guests eating a moldy bagel. The only positive take away was that the beach was beautiful. The staff working in the restaurants, bars, and housekeeping was very nice. The manager at the steakhouse restaurant, Carlos and his staff were excellent. We will not be ever staying at this resort again. They definitely lost our business (the whole group). Whoever manages this particular resort should teach their staff about customer service. Very disappointing. I included pictures of the damage in our so called “VIP room.”

    Love the place.

It was a very nice stay. The room needed a handyman touch (some electric fixtures did not work, some small things needed repair, etc.), but overall was clean and nice. The staff was great, but a special thanks to Ingrid at the front desk. She was like a good fairy resolving any problem fast and easy, whether you need flowers, taxi or just an advice. She personally deserves 5 starts. I would rate with 5 stars the beach as well, one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. On another note, I happened to encounter the stuff from the neighboring IBEROSTAR place. OMG!!!!! DO NOT GO THERE, NEVER!!!! NO MANNERS, NO RESPECT, NOTHING BUT BOORISHNESS. BE AWARE.

1st time at Riu Palace Bavaro and cant wait for next time

Went to celebrate mine and spouses birthday (Wednesday 10/30 thru Monday 11/4) and it was exactly what we both needed. Loved the resort and the adults only VIP pools as the main pool was too crowded and loud. So worth the extra cost to upgrade to adults only. The Bed was too hard and a week later my back is still hurting. The specialty restaurants were a pleasant surprise as we were unsure about them and did not know what we were ordering but they were exceptional. Finding our room was difficult sometimes and wished that were shown the way by a bell person when we first arrived none were to be found and at night the signs were poorly lit or completely dark as was our building 5200. Did a excursion with Subua Caribe and it was so worth it that upon our next trip will do another. Hated the entertainment at night but kudos to them but i hated it as it was repetitive and boring. They should also have someone seating guests instead of having us wonder around looking for a table. Should also have a smoke free section. Appreciated the workers everyday who walked the beach and cleaned up the seaweed the came on shore. Pool Parties were a blast and a must for whomever is 21 and older
